At his May 7 event, [Imam Johari Abdul-Malik, the spokesman for the “Home of the Migrants” mosque] urged Boko Haram to change its view of Islam, even as he declined to challenge its religious claims. “Groups like Boko Haram desire to take us back to a medieval … world where kidnapping of women and girls and enslavement and rape are acceptable,” he said.
“The world has changed … [and] in particular we are saying as modern day Muslims that we now reject all of these acts and that they are contrary to our faith,” he said.
However, Abdul-Malik didn’t promise any religious or political action by U.S. Islamic groups. When pressed May 9 by TheDC to cite Islamic texts that contradict Boko Haram’s Islamist arguments, Abdul-Malik quickly ended the phone call.

Fact is that when you take abrogation into account (later chronological verses of the Quran hold sway over their predecessors) the actions of Boko Haram enjoy substantial support from the teachings of Islam. Indeed, “modern” Muslims who oppose the actions of Boko Haram do so in contravention to the immutable, first person revelations of Islam’s most sacred text.
Again number 1… there is no such thing as a “moderate” muzzie. Get that fact through your head.
When speaking to an Unbeliever doesn’t the Koran say that it is acceptable to lie to them, especially in circumstances such as this?
I’m no fan of Islam, but conservatives have to be above all else realistic, since the left sure as heck won’t be. It is a childish fantasy to imagine that 1 billion people are going to simply renounce their religion because we don’t like it. It is a profoundly evil (Nazi-level) fantasy to imagine that we’ll kill all of them, as some of the more unhinged voices on the far right advocate.
We’re going to have to share this planet with these people whether we like it or not. Their religion is what it is, and they aren’t going to abandon their holy texts (just as Christians and Jews won’t abandon Leviticus). It is very possible to stand firm against the violent elements within the Islamist world (using force when necessary) while at the same time recognizing the fact that millions of Muslims just want to live quiet lives with their families. They may be aware of the controversial writings in their holy texts, but that does not mean they have any intention of acting upon them.
Also, when it comes to immigration one thing is constantly overlooked by conservatives: it’s a two-way street. For every Canadian Muslim who becomes radicalized here, there are hundreds of Canadian second-generation Muslims who become thoroughly Westernized. It is FAR more likely that Westernized Muslim youth will spread those values back to their homelands, than their radical cousins will spread jihad here.
I’m not apologizing for Islam, just trying to be realistic about how we can move forward.

As for Westernized Muslim youth spreading our values back to their homelands, good luck with that,they and we would be far safer if they remained here rather than going back to their homelands. We have a glaring example in the Khadr Klan, how do we know what others get up to when they go back and forth?
What would we move forward to? Would it be trusting people who haven’t earned our trust?
Steve, just look around here in Toronto for example. Public schools being turned into mosques on Fridays and girls segregated from the males, cafeterias in schools and universities serving only halal foods. Now we see fast food outlets like Subway in the UK removing ham and pork products from all their branches, prayer rooms being set up in businesses and our international airports for muslims only. All the things that I saw in Europe are coming here, the honour killings and beatings, the burka, hijab and niqab are all around areas like Thorncliffe in East York.
As Kate shows so well if we comment on it we are islamophobic or racist. Hirsi Ali’s speech to students is cancelled do to islamic pressure. If muslims were so happy to be in Canada with our freedoms why would the women continue or even begin to wear hijabs or burkas. Remember the islamic world produces nothing and hasn’t for a thousand years.
All those facts are there for all to see, it’s a far cry from assimilating. Who can talk to a person with their face covered? Treating women like lesser beings is not what we stand for in the Western World so why should we tolerate it by allowing it even in our schools under the guise of religion?
Exactly, although I think the reformer Muslims are just as worried as any other critic of the Koran from standing out too much in the crowd. Nothing going to change until the leaders in the Muslim world separate church from state, relinquishing the direct personal benefits derived from their status and power over the faithful. And that is not going to happen until they consume all the infidels and then turn on each other.

Yeah well, that did occur for a time and the current wave of anti-west Islamic terrorism is the result….a violent, effective backlash which, fir example has transformed places like Egypt and Iran, in the 50’s, westernized/ing societies, into the current medieval morass where bare headed women are gang rapped/beaten in their capitals.
The Islamists have not only perceived the threat and acted against it, but have turned it back upon us. Islamic immigrants in the West are intent on transforming…not assimilating.
