Chow even tried Ronald Reagan’s debate trick against Jimmy Carter. “Mr. Ford, there you go again,” she said, several times. Well, it worked for Reagan.
Poll at the bottom of the page, just to drive them nuts.

80% of the voters said Ford won the debate at 9:00 PDT
Have no dog in this fight but I do love seeing lefty heads explode that he’s STILL going!
Same for me ldd. I am generally sick to death of government, so I hope Ford wins.
Ford can come and run my city anytime. Hell, he can run my province.
Rob Ford’s approval rating went up after the first televised mayoral debate at City, according to a poll conducted by Forum Research.
The poll, a random sampling of 634 Toronto voters, shows Ford’s approval rating at 46 per cent, up from 42 per cent a few weeks ago.
The poll was conducted immediately after the debate at City on Wednesday night.
When it comes to voter preference for mayor, Ford and Olivia Chow are in a neck-and-neck race, with each taking a third of the vote (Chow 33 per cent, Ford 32 per cent).
Young males represent the core of Ford supporters, while young females are drawn to Chow.
How many decades has Chow lived in this country? By her pisspoore english I would have guessed about a year. She obviously doesn’t take her citizenship here seriously enough to learn how to speak english properly (maybe she should have taken english classes rather than the socialist elective courses while in college) so why would anyone take her seriously as a candidate to effectively run Toronto? Besides, she has proven to be a liar and a fraud. She would turn Toronto into Detroit in no time.
I second that motion.
Good for Ford for knocking them down.
Ford is a better politician stoned than the rest of the field clean and sober. They hate the fact that he doesn’t have that tax and spend mentality required for empire building and has the audacity to respect taxpayers money. He actually cares how the money is spent. It just goes against every reason most people get into politics and sets a bad example for established pigs at the trough. How dare the peasants continue to have faith in this man after the brutal hammering he received by the media and all the vested interests. The man is truly a threat to politics as usual and imagine the apprehension if the demand for honest politics were to spread. The horror….
Rob Ford is an intelligent man, which is unusual among politicians.
Rob Ford GETS the issues, and he’s the most likeable of the candidates.
Olivia Chow is shrill and dour-faced. She’s a typical strident NDPer.
What’s wrong with Olivia Layton Chow. .? No race card, I’m a broad card or you bully me card
New slogan: A Conservative on crack runs Toronto better than the most intelligent Liberal socialist.
From the article….
“How they could miss a target like Rob Ford boggles my mind.
In the name of fair play, I wanted to run across the studio screaming: “Crack! Talk about the crack! Or home cooking! Or drunken stupors! Or something!”
But no. All we got from the four against Ford was …
“No mas, no mas!””
The only worse fate I can imagine for Toronto than the drug-addled Rob Ford is O. Chow. A seriously self-abusing addict or a whiny taxpayer abusing socialist. Hmmmm…..4 yrs of mangled English worse than Chretien or 4 more years of drunken stupor smartphone videos.
These are the best Canada’s largest city has to offer it’s citizens? What a f**king embarrassment.
The polls only go to demonstrate that we have no one to blame but ourselves for the fact we are overrun by politicians with little or no character.
And that Sir, has my whole-hearted endorsement! “A” effin men!
CC
you nailed it big time
the fact that Ford is a “street fighter” gives him a big advantage in a herd of pussies!
–Proving once again; even a recovering crack head is more rational than a crony socialist.
It also proves that without the din of partisan media slander, the candidates and political philosophy they pimp is totally vacant, visionless and detached from the requirements of the office they seek to fill.
Good one Rob – keep smoking crack and running a tight ship while steam rolling the GTA 5th column.
I’ve done business with the City of Toronto. I came away from meetings with their officials wondering what planet I was on. The liberal-socialism lunacy that has nested in their methods of operation is truly mind boggling. There is absolutely no sense of responsibility to the taxpayer; only an air of entitlement and the laziest of thought processes.
It’s no wonder that Rob smoked crack. Having to deal with those socialism addled mental midgets on a daily basis would drive anyone to drugs!
Lorrie Goldstein wrote a reminder piece in the Toronto SUN about Jack & Olivia living in subsidized housing when both were raking in “big bucks” as Toronto City Councillors”.
But that’s what commies do eh?
I hope Lorrie re-runs that piece in the T O Sun again, before election time.
Who’s your mayor, C.O.? (And that’s not meant to lead to sarcasm.)
And Blazing Cat Fur had Twitter links to two far-lefties who admitted Ford won too.
As many in Toronto believe:
He may be unprofessional and likes a drink to far occasionally, but unlike the slick, professional politicians, he won’t outright lie in your face while robbing you blind.
A Conservative on crack is better than a socialist on committees.
“[Ford] may be unprofessional and likes a drink to far occasionally, but unlike the slick, professional politicians, he won’t outright lie in your face while robbing you blind.”
First, God save us all from the “professional” political class anyway; it ought to be a fundamental tenet of democracy to resist all sinister attempts at “professionalizing politics”.
By gosh, I think Rob Ford could easy win another term. The Millerite-Chowista bloc just doesn’t get it: Rob Ford was elected precisely because of THEM. It is a telling indictment about the state of Hogtown municipal politics when a voter would view Ford’s drug and booze shenanigans as infinitely preferable to the eccentric fiscal shenanigans of his predecessors at City Hall.
The only person with a chance against Ford in this mix would be a General Rick Hillier type: i.e., a forceful, strong-willed candidate with a similar political platform but without Ford’s personal foibles.
There ain’t anyone like that in TO right now. So – looks like Rob Ford it is!
“How many decades has Chow lived in this country? By her pisspoore [sic] english [sic] I would have guessed about a year. She obviously doesn’t take her citizenship here seriously enough to learn how to speak english [sic] properly…”
I may have no use for Olivia’s politics but she doesn’t deserve ad hominem attacks about her English.
Least of all from someone who a) appears to have spelling challenges and b) fails to even capitalize “English”.
What’s happened to Red Tory John? He’s not rising above the nobody’s or the lead socialist and the present Mayor who the Left, the media and even the police force have allegedly been following around for months, all working full stop to label him as a crack smoking clown but goes on to win the first debate hands down.
Good luck Toronto,Capital of Ontar-I-owe, with what’s going on at City Hall and the Ontario Legislature it’s a city in quite a quagmire.
Having had some small experience of the Upper Crust in Toronto, I can tell you every second that Rob Ford is mayor drives them crazy. They hate this guy like poison. They would sooner see Olivia Chowchow impoverish the city than have Rob Ford be mayor, even if he managed to cut their taxes in half and ended street crime completely. Because he’s a typical working class, type A sweaty businessman, and they just HATE guys like that.
Go Rob!
Has it occurred to anyone Ms. Chow may just be stupid?
What has she ever actually accomplished? Other than pushing the usual socialist drivel as policies?
How come the NDP never gave her any shadow positions of substance?
Does that make me a racist or a sexist for asking? Or just someone that dares to ask?
Perhaps Ms. Chow is bright and capable, please correct me if I am wrong.
John Tory is a Granite Club liberal of the Old Guard. He is a dust-farting, tax-and-spend dinosaur. If he ever had a good idea, or even a new idea, he choked it to death and cast it into the nearest gutter. The most Conservative thing about John Tory is the cut of his suit.
May he develop boils. And infect Tim Hudak with them as well.
Stupid and bright are relative terms. It seems that compared to Ford, Chow is not bright.
“I can tell you every second that Rob Ford is mayor drives them crazy. They hate this guy like poison”
Exactly, the Hate Ford movement has never been political – it is class based and it is the gated community (minority)socialist priggery in a death grip with Populism, populist politics and populist democratic governing – they hate it like poison and this tiny elite want a monopoly on controlling the law/finance/culture of the city – archetypical Fabian socialist types (champagne socialism)- and Ford is the embodiment of everything they loath – primarily people governing themselves through popular consent rather than a being run by a top-down elite.
You go Rob, and keep making these types gnaw on their own testicles witnessing populist will.
I don’t think Olivia Chow is stupid, but it seems fairly clear she lacks the political nous of her late husband (whatever you might think of him).
In fact, that’s concern too. Why are we supposed to get behind someone whose most notable claim to fame is that she was married to Jack Layton? I would have thought all the feminist “sisters” would have had something to say about riding hubbie’s coat-tails to success (worse still, shamelessly trading on the legacy of a dead man).
It reminds me of Hillary Clinton somewhat: I should be your president because I once slept with your president!
Positively Argentinian!
Ford makes Chow look bright as a shiny penny as long as you’ve pressed the mute button.
Paraphrasing someone who’s name elude’s me, the real challenge in politics is getting to a situation where one doesn’t have to get the right person elected to do the right things but to where the wrong person elected feels compelled to do the right things. Drunkenness accompanied Churchill and Ralph Klein and those two were considered doers of good. Having been in politics, I can understand how one could easily succumb to the bottle. It sounds like Ford is still the best candidate.
The people who are going to vote in Toronto are close to 50% hyphenated Canadians. Another large demographic are the same tools that voted for Miller… urban progressive twits.
Ford got in because enough of these two groups were losing their shirts to civic property taxes. Those voters have had their frontal lobes wiped by the media campaign against Ford and have already forgotten the tax pain of the past and are incapable of seeing the consequences of the choices they now face.
Ordinary working people in the GTA have been cowed by the flood bad news about Ford and have no choice but to stay home on election day.
There are only a few geographic conclaves that are inhabited by the wealthy and influential in Toronto and the rest commute from the outlying areas and therefore do not have a vote.
Chow WILL win this election.
Ralph Klein was certainly no angel….however unlike Ford, he had a loyal cadre of enablers that kept him out of public scrutiny and as an ex-journalist…was an untouchable. Ralph was unquestionably the best Calgary Mayor and Alberta Premier .
The writer wonders why no mention of crack – I wonder why nobody brought up the fact that Layton and Chow were both billing the federal government for the same townhouse in Ottawa. If I recall, that was double billing of $55,000.
Umm, JJM, she wants to be a political leader, so, yes, her mastery of the language is an issue, she’s 57 and came to Canada at age 13. Sooooo, after 44 years she should be able to speak English clearly and with only a minor accent. I know many who came here at a later age than her and speak with only a very minor accent. PPL who are hard of hearing have a much more difficult time understanding ppl with accents, as would those who’s mother tongue is not English. Criticism of her ability to speak English clearly is a valid point.
Here’s a question for the good citizens of Toronto:
Based on what you currently know, which politician’s acts and policies are more likely to cause long term harm to you and your family – McGuinty’s or Ford’s?
Other than Sun News and Rex Murphy, I find what passes for *news* media in this country to be the “f**king embarrassment.”
As we speak, the Toronto Star’s buddy, GAWKER, is trying to hire a tuba player to cozy up to Rob Ford for a full day.
“I should be your president because I once slept with your president!”
I don’t think Hillary wants that much competition. 🙂
The Sun? Really? Can we have a more objective worthwhile source please, like the NP?
The fact that Ford is perhaps the best choice is pretty embarrassing and sad. I don’t think he’s that great because I am capable of actually analysing policy unlike most people here. His subway proposal was terrible and Karen Stintz saved him from himself on that one. She’d probably be a better mayor.
Can someone please shut down the factory that churns out Hudaks and Tories?
“you cannot let private sector run the business, ok” – Olivia Chow
Chow has the warmth of a brass seat inside a portable toilet in mid winter Porcupine Plain Saskatchewan.
“Umm, JJM, she wants to be a political leader, so, yes, her mastery of the language is an issue, she’s 57 and came to Canada at age 13. Sooooo, after 44 years she should be able to speak English clearly and with only a minor accent.”
Jean Chrétien was born in Canada and became prime minister at age 59. Sooooo, after 59 years he should have been able to speak English clearly and with only a minor accent.
Stephen Harper was born in Canada and became prime minister at 47. Sooooo, after 47 years he should have been able to speak French clearly and with only a minor accent.
“The fact that Ford is perhaps the best choice is pretty embarrassing and sad. I don’t think he’s that great…”
I agree. But that’s precisely the point: he doesn’t have to be great; he just has to be better in the public’s perception than the sorry line-up running against him.
But is he? Like I said, I think Stintz might be better.
Not that I know a hoot about Trawna elections but really if Rob Ford isn’t a natural choice then we are all doomed, and Olivia can f-off and get another job in a chinese restaurant.
Vote Chow.
Detroit Canada has such a nice ring to it.
Toronto is too hard too spell, as the average NDP voter is apparently too stupid to gain possession of one of 32 possible IDs, if Olivia wins, they will have to change the name to Detroit.
So the voters who take her over the top will feel at home.
Harper speaks ONE of the official languages very clearly. Sad that you can’t understand the difference. Fact is, bright BOY, one of my friends came to Canada at age 14, never went to school here, is 2 yrs younger than Chow cow and speaks with out an accent at all, and that is after working with those from his country of origin for the first years. Chow cow has NO excuse for not speaking English without a major accent, full stop.
Spinal Tap, I read and view many news sources. I like Sun News because they cover U.S. issues more thoroughly than other Canadian papers and networks. They will discuss issues ignored by the other outlets. Sun provides balance to an otherwise celebrity-obsessed media. The National Post is good, depending on the writer. I do like its Letters section.
“I don’t think he’s that great because I am capable of actually analysing policy unlike most people here.”
You know that, huh? I’m thankfully not from Toronto; I’m commenting as a BCer only.
Quickly, someone please get Hudak a mountain of crack. If he starts smoking soon maybe the Torries will have a chance after all.
Not even crack could make Hudak electable.
