  1. How did you enjoy your income tax increases, and oh! What about that EI surplus… provincial downloading…
I can’t enjoy income tax increases that don’t exist. The Liberals actually cut income tax in the late ’90s. I also love downloading. Fact: Paul Martin was more fiscally conservative than Bush was or Harper ever will be. End of story.
ITT a lot of mental cases that should just ask Flaherty for his hand in marriage already. I have no doubt they’d rationalize liquidating The Kulaks if a team blue flak ordered it.

  2. Paul Martin? Did someone say Paul Martin? Mr Dithers? You want to “balance” the budget? Just cut transfers to the provinces who in turn cut to the municipalities who in turn are legislated to operate at a balanced budget. So the shop keeper and the mechanic and the truck driver who sit on council in their little town juggle the property tax revenue that’s left over to get a water treatment upgrade or the pot holes filled. They’re the heroes. They’re the ones that make this country move and prosper. All Mr. Dithers did was cut what belonged to the provinces and steal from the EI fund to balance the budget. Any other CEO of a corporation that stole from an insurance plan paid for by employers and employees would be put in jail. But the Mr. Dithers of the world get an out of jail free card because of their ideology supported by the idiots like `Spineless`.

  3. Excuse, transfer money does not ‘belong’ to the provincial government. It was money extorted from taxpayers and then doled out for political gain. Transfers shouldn’t even exist. Provinces have their own tax powers.

I remember when the Canadian Right was about more than slobbering over (incompetent) team hacks like Failherty and talking up intergovernmental socialism to justify it. It has been overrun by TeamTards just like the American Right was circa 2000-2008. Different countries, similar outcomes likely.

  4. We’re not printing loonies by the truck load on a daily basis like USA, JAPAN and CHINA are.
    Good job JM, thanks.

  5. “Flaherty’s flip-flop on income trusts cost me at least $50,000.”
True, OTOH he also put in place the Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA). A majority (53%) of Canadians still haven’t opened a TFSA. Why complain about taxation when one hasn’t employed the tax shelter available?

  6. “The banks and telcos were preparing to become income trusts and had they done so it would have destroyed productivity and innovation in this country.”
Income taxes spur productivity and innovation? Ludwig von Mises must be turning in his grave.

  7. Having the base number of your fractional currency represented in your coinage system is not “So 19th century”.
I personally hate getting ripped off. What’s wrong with wanting exact change. Now you have a whole bunch of tards out there who think using pennies in a financial transaction is somehow illegal.
2¢ can buy you a share in lots of companies.
Oh, and if I wanted to vote for a party that was going to abolish the Penny I would have voted NDP. The conservatives didn’t campaign on it, they had no mandate to get rid of it and yes I will be voting for an Independent, Libertarian or CHP candidate because of it.

  8. Absolutely surprised that no one has predicted that Flaherty will work in the private sector for a year or so, and then throw his hat in the ring as Conservative Party leader in Ontario when Tim “Who-dat?” loses again to the Lib/NDP ‘juggernaut’.
    So I will.

  9. Tim WhoDat!?
    Sad but true.
    but Hilarious! too.
Maybe ontario pcs can draft Jimmy sooner rather than later.
McWynnty and Horgarth will sink ontario if given another chance.
If ONLY Timmy was the Harris Lite he’s so afraid of being labeled…

  10. Last year was it that all of Cyprus got a 10% haircut on their savings accounts and what does PMSH’s regime do but quietly pass legislation to allow them to do the same to the savings accounts of Canadians.
The ‘Tax Free’ savings allowance looks a bit sinister in light of that legislation.
“A majority (53%) of Canadians still haven’t opened a TFSA.”
Those would be the wiser ones.
