Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Dad and I shared an interest in birds. When he was young he relieved a crow’s nest of an egg. When the bird grew up it could speak and loved to ride the horses. One day Grampa was loading the hay rack when the crow perched on the horse’s back and with a croaky ‘giddy up’ had the horses dragging the hay rack across the field. A short time later Grampa dispatched the crow with the trusty 410.
We’ve visited the Jurong Bird Park in Singapore and realized how smart certain birds are, and visited South African ostrich farms to learn how stupid birds can be.
There’s quite a range, just like in humans…
I agree with Grampa.
I can’t stand crows. Here in the city they kill and eat the fledgelings of other birds. You hardly see robins anymore but there are two crows for every city block.
Crows and Ravens are amazing birds.
People have observed their cleverness for a long time, but only recently has any amount of research been done.

Inspiring creativity in people, too…

Parrots are also pretty clever.

I’d like to have a large flock of crows descend on Ontario’s Queen’s Park and take over the Liberal government who have ruined the province for decades to come.

Sorry Liz J, crows appear BEFORE the vultures. Maggots and bugs are next in line.
I think we need to keep an eye on those crafty crows.
