  1. Actually, it reminded my of the Panzer song from “Battle of the Bulge”. The song may never have happened in real life; the deaths of the young men did.

  2. In South Los Angeles, a 4-plex home was destroyed by a fire.
A Mexican family of six, all welfare recipients and gang members, lived on the first floor. They died.
An Islamic group of seven welfare cheats, all illegally in the country from Kenya , lived on the second floor. They, too, all perished.
Six LA, Hispanic, gang bangers & ex-cons lived on the 3rd floor. They, too, died.
A white couple lived on the top floor. The couple survived the fire.
Jesse Jackson, John Burris and Al Sharpton were furious!!
They flew into LA and met with the fire chief.
On camera, they loudly demanded to know why blacks, Muslims and Hispanics all died in the fire and why only the white couple lived?
The Fire Chief said, “They were at work.”

  3. Ezra rips Neil Young to pieces, exposing Neil’s “Indian fetish”.
Neil says ” the first time wasn’t that great, at least I didn’t get any diseases”.
Young is more than an eccentric has-been, he is messed up in the head.

Years ago, there was a radio promotion that went wrong. A station had everyone bring their disco albums to a ball game and then blew them up real good.
I think a bonfire of Young’s albums aided by some good old crude would a fitting tribute to Neil’s hypocrisy and idiocy.

  5. The crisis in Ukraine. The two maps in this article vividly show how Ukraine is divided, but it is not as simple as that. Many Ukrainians in the two major regions, as shown by the maps, feel that President Viktor Yanukovych has exceeded his constitutional powers, and so the protestors do not necessarily just represent either for or against Yanukovych’s trade diplomacy although a significant percentage have always wanted closer ties with western Europe.
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/worldviews/wp/2014/01/24/this-is-the-one-map-you-need-to-understand-ukraines-crisis/
A comment to the article explains Ukraine’s dilemma.
“As a foreigner who’s lived in Eastern Ukraine for the last 20 years you are astutely spot on with your maps. There is a saying here in Ukraine: “Yanakovich is evil, but he is OUR evil” meaning, yes Yanakovich is evil, but we know him and he is for us so his evil will not hurt as much. If the opposition leader gets voted in, he may be worse to us, so we’ll stick to what we can know and understand. That being true, there is a surprising number of Eastern Ukrainians who are hoping the opposition will succeed in Kiev. They are afraid to speak up or protest, they themselves don’t realize their strength of numbers! At the same time, we hear the older generation saying things like, “we just need the black cars to come in the night to collect all the opposition leaders, that will stop the protests!” That remark refers to the Stalin reign of terror, when people would be picked up in the middle of the night and never heard from again! What is crazy about that is all of these older people have memories of that very thing happening to their loved ones, and remember how horrible it was, yet the wish that to happen again?! The country is very divided. Westerners don’t want a Russian speaking president from the East, and Easterners don’t think that uneducated, redneck, backward farmers from the West know how to run a country. Those aren’t my words or belief, I’m just repeating what I hear so often. I personally, don’t want the EU, I don’t want stronger ties with Russia, I want to see Ukraine independent and free. She is a rich country with more ability and potential than she herself knows she possesses. This Country has a self esteem problem. If we just had leaders who loved this Country more than their own pocketbook…”

  6. Prime Minister Harper’s Fire and Water Speech.
““Through fire and water, Canada will stand with you,” he told the Israelis.”
    …-
“Conrad Black on Harper in Israel: A great moment for Canada”
““Through fire and water, Canada will stand with you,” he told the Israelis. All Canadians, including those who sympathize with the Palestinians, should support him.”
“We have finally got beyond the self-righteous fairy tales about peace-keeping and “soft power.” (You don’t need peace-keepers in either peace, or war, and soft power works only when there is a hard-power alternative.) All Canadians are ennobled by this espousal of, as the Prime Minister described it, what is morally imperative and strategically wise in the world’s premier crisis area.”

“Canada’s Prime Minister: A Display of Rare Courage”
“It [the new face of anti-Semitism] targets the Jewish people by targeting Israel…. What else can we call criticism that selectively concerns only the Jewish state and effectively denies its right to exist, to defend itself, while systematically ignoring or excusing the violence and oppression all around it?” — Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada
Invited to address the Knesset, the Israeli parliament in Jerusalem, Stephen Harper, the Prime Minister of Canada, did not hold back in expressing his government’s support for the Jewish state as the lonely and beleaguered democracy in the region. As Harper told members of the Knesset, “Israel is the only country in the Middle East which has long anchored itself in the ideals of freedom, democracy and the rule of law. And these are not mere notions. They are the things that, over time and against all odds, have proven to be, over and over again, the only ground in which human rights, political stability and economic prosperity may flourish…. through fire and water, Canada will stand with you.””

  7. The American national anthem is a slightly modified old British drinking song called ‘To Anacreon in Heaven’. That’s why it’s played prior to most sporting events.
    Cheers,

  8. Syd…all due respect buddy…but I’ll say most of us did not check out the story at snopes.
I get a few of those ‘stories’ daily in my e-mail…kind of a Daily Rash thing.

This outfit makes the HRC’s look positively benign. The Civil Forfeiture Office, which exists in 8 Provinces, was originally designed to go after proceeds of crime, but like any bureaucracy, they have expanded their mandate to an absurd degree.
The B.C. CFO has a yearly quota they have to meet to stay in business, and they operate in complete secrecy. The accused has to prove his innocence, just like the HRC’s,and the punishment is the process.
Anyone see any possibility of abuse?

  10. RIP: AGW Pause.
Ich Bin Ein AGWarming Full Stop 16+ years!.
But wait! >>> “The heat is out there, somewhere.”
    …-
“Spiegel Reaffirms Warming Stop: “Climate: Warming Of the Atmosphere Has Paused 16 Years””
“Science journalist Axel Bojanowski at the online Spiegel writes a report on the warming stop, reaffirming that it indeed has stopped for 16 years. But at the same time the article says, citing NASA, we that could see a record warm 2014. The heat is out there, somewhere.
Interestingly, Spiegel now says it’s the atmosphere near the surface that has paused, and not the globe or climate. 10 years ago, on the other hand, atmospheric warming was called global warming.
More than 97% of all models are wrong
The big questions is why the near-surface atmosphere has not warmed like all the models said it would. Spiegel writes:”.

  11. I used to know an excellent Australian beer drinking song …. problem was that the only time I ever sang it was with my Australian beer drinking mates. Meaning … I could never remember it sober or with strangers.

  12. “Harper” You mean that Bilderburg member, that signs deals behind closed doors. You know that same guy that signs the TPP or trans pacific partnership behind closed doors and it takes WikiLeaks to tell us about all the freedoms we are about to loose, that guy. I sure hope your not another one of those red necks that actually voted for this guy, we lost 33,000 manufacturing jobs in 2013 how many are enough for you.My biggest fear is that he will come out in the near future, and claim he balanced the budget, with all that money printing going on, that’s not they way to do it. Do me a favor think the next time you vote.

  14. You are right about the origin of the music, but wrong about why it is played at sporting events (and other non-essential gatherings). In the 20th century, the American people were embarrassed and felt ashamed about their spending precious time enjoying a non-essential sport while their sons were being killed in the foreign wars in which we were engaged. That was the American answer to the hollow “I support our troops” and “Thank you for your service” bandied about by the lying libruls to deflect criticism of their unpopular stances. That just showed the world and the peace mongers among us that no matter what, we were one hundred percent behind The Unite States.

  15. Americans are not much for drinking songs, except “drunk last night”. However, the Europeans, and particularly the British were. Their entertainment was sitting in their pub, clubhouse, etc. and singing – no TV ya know. Here are a couple of their most famous. These all have many different versions, but I picked the version with which I was most familiar.
Hurrah for the next man to die (RAF)
So stand to your glasses Steady,
This world is a world full of lies
A toast to the dead already,
And hurrah for the next man to die.
Gentlemen Rankers,Rudyard Kipling (Stolen from R.K. by Rudy Vallee and Harvard)
To the legion of the lost ones, to the cohort of the damned,
To my brethren in their sorrow overseas,
Sings a gentleman of England cleanly bred, machinely crammed,
And a trooper of the Empress, if you please.
Yea, a trooper of the forces who has run his own six horses,
And faith he went the pace and went it blind,
And the world was more than kin while he held the ready tin,
But to-day the Sergeant’s something less than kind.
We’re poor little lambs who’ve lost our way,
    Baa! Baa! Baa!
We’re little black sheep who’ve gone astray,
    Baa—aa—aa!
    Gentlemen-rankers out on the spree,
    Damned from here to Eternity,
God ha’ mercy on such as we,
    Baa! Yah! Bah!
    And of course the Germans:
    Trinkt trinkt trinkt
    O Du Wonderschoner
    Das Glaube Mir
    The Americans:
    Madamemoselle(?) from Armentiers
    Mountain Dew

  16. peter, don’t print balderdash. The rising price of electricity in Ontario is responsible for the loss of the jobs in that province and let me assure you, it has only started. When you try and run industry with wind power you are not just stupid but you should be criminally responsible as well. I live in Sask. and the socialists are no longer in power here and we welcome the former Ontarians that are making our economy thrive.

  17. “electricity in Ontario is responsible for the loss of the jobs”
What planet are you on, Quebec had the highest job losses and the lowest electrical rates in the country. These job losses are result of free trade deals, with places like china and India. Companies are closing their doors and moving to places, where they can have slave labor and no environmental standards. Even china is now exporting jobs to north Korea where the workers life spans are rated in months.

  18. If i remember right,Vancouver had a bylaw for food carts saying the hotdogs had to be given to the customer in a disposable cover……They ended up with the nickname of “condom dogs” and weren’t a big hit(ceptin’ on the west side, for some reason)
