  10. Unfortunately, there are some very serious ramifications to all of this. It really isn’t a laughing matter. I know it’s difficult not to laugh, but this is going to mean some serious hardship for a lot of union folks. Sure, it’s their own fault, but that won’t change the fact that they can’t afford to live.

  11. It could have been worse, of course. All will be well, thank heaven, with Detroit’s superannuated government employees. Sure don’t they all have fine strong sons in honest trades and daughters in good marriages, at least one of whom will be more than happy to take in their dear mothers and fathers in this, their time of need. Like you do.
    It really would have been a terrible situation if those sons of theirs were dead or in jail, or the daughters still at home with six children by six fathers, and they all living on food stamps and grandma’s pension from her make-work job, because not a one understood how to read words of more than one syllable, write a coherent sentence or make correct change (never mind that in the real world you’re expected to show up for work on time and sober), and that nobody who was in his right mind and had any choice would hire any of the daughters for any position under him that lasted more than five minutes and couldn’t be compensated in drugs.
    Wouldn’t it now?
    (It’s a great day when three sets of parasites—banksters, unionists and Barry’s “community”—all get a long-delayed, but long-deserved kick in the teeth.)

    They helped themselves to the cultural heritage built up by Detroit’s whites, dis everything in their power to drive Mr. Charlie before them, and spent the last forty years drinking away the money, doing nothing constructive to earn it, and not bothering to raise their children to aspire to anything better than being rappers, drug dealers, pimps and prostitutes.

    How can their long-suffering fellow citizens help? Stamp the passports of those retiring to Liberia NOT GOOD FOR RE-ENTRY TO THE UNITED STATES.

  20. I am very passionate about this issue. I lived through the Detroit riots (Black day in July)
    and place the blame squarely on LBJ and the Democrat party. My next comment will probably be held in the filter and deleted but I must quote LBJ when he introduced the 1964 Civil Rights Bill. LBJ said, and I quote “If we pass this thing we’ll have the nigger vote for the next hundred years”.
    Detroit has been governed by a succession of corrupt administrations over the years. One need look no further than Kwame Kilpatrick.

    Please tell me you don’t really think Redford allowed an honest election to take place when the result was at all in doubt? That would have been a great idea if she wanted to accompany the PC leadership to prison when the Queen of Alberta found out what the Tories had really been playing at in Edmonton those 40 years.
    Wildrose and Danielle Smith had the hearts and minds of the plain people of Alberta. The PCs and Alison Redford had control of Elections Alberta—and the ear of Calgary and Edmonton imams ready to send brothers to vote 15 or 20 times under twenty different names for the PCs.
    When in doubt, stuff the ballot box like a Christmas turkey. That’s how Alison is premier today, and that’s how Barry is president today.

  34. What’s interesting here is the response of the MSM. Lots of coverage but one very large aspect missing. In any big story, the MSM always likes to jump to the “why” and “who’s to blame” often long before the facts are in, as the Lac Megantic train derailment illustrates.
    However, in the case of the Detroit bankruptcy: 1. the MSM has been ignoring this story even though it’s been building for months, particularly with the displacement of the city government by a financial administrator; and 2. it’s avoided thus far any discussion of “why” and “who’s to blame”.
    The reason of course is obvious. The answers run completely counter to the progressive narrative. Just one more piece of evidence that you can butt-kick the MSM with all the facts you like; they still can’t find their a$$holes with a map, two hands and a flashlight.

  41. I would advocate simply giving Detroit to you Canadians, if I wasn’t certain that would constitute an act of war.
    Such a sad case, really. At one time Detroit was one of the very wealthiest and most technologically advanced cities in the world. But decades of uninterrupted rule by Democrats, and this is what you get. There’s plenty more Detroits out there, too. Philadelphia, New Orleans, Newark, Oakland.
    Sometimes having an edgy, world-weary, gallows humor about this whole state of affairs just isn’t enough to take the sting out of it. It’s the sad death of a civilization, entirely self-inflicted.

At some point US blacks stopped thinking of themselves as Americans but rather began to view themselves as a wronged underclass. LBJ’s prediction about sewing up the “nigger vote”(as quoted by Ghost of Arthur Ellis) has proven to be correct as black residents of the US vote 95% for dumbocRats.
    The primary problem with people voting for people based on racist principles is that it just ensures that the sleaziest con-man will come out on top and, if they’re black, they’re much more likely to be incompetent. Thus, Detroit voted themselves a succession of black city administrations who were more concerned about repairing imaginary past grievances than governing a city. The end result of this was inevitable.
    There was a time when the US was a true melting pot and people from around the world fought over the right to become American citizens. Being a meritocracy, the best would wind up on top but then came the apartheid laws such as “affirmative action” where ones skin color counted far more than ones ability to perform a particular job. What was once a fairly homogenous group of people who viewed them selves as “Americans” suddenly became hyphenated Americans; each group with a special set of “historical grievances”. This resulted in a mindset where the primary aim was not to excel at what one was doing but to milk the “oppressors” for as much as possible. The end result was inevitable to anyone possessing a modicum of rational thought; unfortunately a steadily decreasing minority of the population.
    I thought WWII was a war in which the forces of nationalism were subjugated by the forces of freedom. Unfortunately, US blacks have chosen to follow a racialist path in which anyone white is considered to be an untermenschen and thus a valid target. There’s only one way to deal with such fanatics — shoot them.
    Unfortunately, group loyalties still have power even among educated people. My father was an intelligent engineer but also a Ukrainian nationalist and I couldn’t believe it when he told me some 40 years ago that he’d voted for a Lieberal candidate in a parliamentary election because the candidate was Ukrainian. In his view, being Ukrainian made up for all sorts of sins. When I pushed the question and asked him if he’d vote for a Ukrainian communist, his answer surprised me as he stated he would be in favor of an independent communist Ukraine if all of the communists were Ukrainian. This was a topic which we just didn’t discuss again for the rest of his life as, in his view, Ukrainians could do no wrong.
    Red-Ed in Alberta was probably the recipient of such nationalist views by those individuals who labor under the delusion that someone of their racial origin can’t possibly be a moron. Most groups of humans have the same fraction of morons, idiots, totalitarians and psychopaths as other groups of humans and progress is the ability to see an individual who has superior qualities in many areas and vote for them regardless of their origin.
    So, with the passing of apartheid laws in the US as well as the creation of “black studies” programs charged with propagating the meme of “white privilege” the US has become fractured into sets of warring communities which will likely result in a full scale civil war once the incompetence and social depravity of the black segment of the population becomes too obvious to ignore. The future of black America is that of a series of Detroit’s as, apart from a few brave individuals like Thomas Sowell, very few black Americans are willing to criticize the steady decivilization of the black community. This is the same path that the UK has followed where, instead of attacking the culture of the dysfunctional underclass, it has instead chosen to become a totalitarian surveillance society where only non-members of the underclass are prosecuted for criminal acts.
    I fully expect that the bankruptcy of Detroit will result in blame being laid upon the white population of America who didn’t bail out this instantiation of Haiti on American soil. In the “black American” weltanschauung, no other explanation is possible.
