Y2Kyoto: State Of Anorexia Envirosa

Germany Forced to Cancel Climate Programs;

[T]he Environment Ministry is set to cancel several flagship subsidy programs this month — programs that were to be key elements of Germany’s transition away from fossil fuels and towards complete reliance on renewables.
Environment Minister Peter Altmaier, a member of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservative Christian Democrats, is set to cut the program aimed at promoting electric cars, a fund for research and development of energy storage technologies and a third program focused on protecting and expanding forestland in Germany as a way to absorb more CO2 out of the atmosphere. In April, further programs are on the chopping block, according to an internal ministry document seen by SPIEGEL. In total, 14 programs or one-time measures are affected.

  1. “a third program focused on protecting and expanding forestland in Germany”
This one I would NOT cut. Even with starting to get out of the climate scam, they are going to need all the trees they can get for heat/cooking,as the money all ready wasted hasn’t even started to hit home with fuel/electricty costs yet. And I thought the square heads were smart.

  2. Funny that….Germans after a coupla millenia are still very forest oriented…..despite their technological society…given a holiday or a weekend….they head off into the forest…..In a way Germans still worship trees….it’s seems genetic….
Most are unaware that the barrier to the expansion of the Roman Empire in the north-east was not the Germans but the Germans AND the dense forests of the North European Plain….it is for good a proper reason that Romania was named Transylvania….beyond the forest.
This explains the freakout about wood theft to fuel woodstoves. Those from the former GDR are not meek, obedient serfs…reflex backlash against regulation is a trait.

  3. This is terrible news.
There will be massive layoffs of Green paper pushers.
This will cause massive Global Warming. Lake Winnipeg will boil away.
    Aaaahh.

  4. Not to worry. The Obummer intends to pick up the slack so it will be full speed ahead for the USA in the war against imaginary globull warming. What a leader, what a bonehead.

  5. Likewise, sasquatch. I’d stay away from that sucker.
fenris….never thought of that great side effect of firing a bunch of climate bureaucraps.

  6. And in other Euro news . . . the Great Climb Down has also started in England.
“Debate about climate change has been cut out of the national curriculum for children under 14, prompting claims of political interference in the syllabus by the government that has failed “our duty to future generations”.
The latest draft guidelines for children in key stages 1 to 3 have no mention of climate change under geography teaching and a single reference to how carbon dioxide produced by humans impacts on the climate in the chemistry section. There is also no reference to sustainable development, only to the “efficacy of recycling”, again as a chemistry subject.”

Only a $Trillion++ dollars wasted on the Great Greenie Glowball Warming Scheme & Scam, all aided and abetted by the EnviroTards, University Professors and 3 Brain Celled media who invented and pushed the scheme so they could use it as a smoke screen for their preferred Public Policy initiatives.
$Trillion++ dollars . . . would have fixed a lot of crappy roads, paid for medical care for Seniors, helped educate a lot of children, properly equipped our long suffering and under funded military.
Your fault Suzuki, but you are a rich fat cat who doesn’t need to care about little people.
You have your trees to hug and pagan god to honor.

  7. “the barrier to the expansion of the Roman Empire in the north-east was not the Germans but the Germans AND the dense forests of the North European Plain…”
Yes, Imperial Legate Varus and his three legions, plus auxiliary units discovered that and came to grief in AD 9 in the Teutoburg forest.
Now, what was Margaret Thatcher talking about socialists running out of other people’s money.

  8. No Al, just did not want to put in too much detail. By the way, there is a statue to Hermann (Arminius) at the museum/battlefield site.

  9. Arminius’s real name is not known – Herrmann simply means “man of the
army.” There is a theory that it was – Siegfried.

  10. You will note the noxious assumption that nothing can happen unless the Reich wills it. Now trees are living things and they grow rather well, unless you deposit a mile of ice on top of them. Most of us have seen the photos of New England former farmland, farmland in 1900 but forest now. Some of us will have seen old farms in various places – for myself, Newfoundland, Pennsylvania, and upstate New York – where trees are in the process of taking dwellings and barns apart. Thirty years is quite enough! Concrete takes longer but it too will yield.
And I remember the Uithof in Utrecht in the Netherlands, the university centre. When I worked there in the `70s, it was polder land, almost bare. When I returned for a visit in 2004 I had trouble finding the place, there were so many trees. The land was of course good, but it was only thirty years. An interesting point is that that land had never been forest – it was just inside the old inundation line. It would have been rather grungy salt marsh (as most of the western Netherlands was before the dykes were built).
So there are parts of the Netherlands which are now forested which never before have been forested. Shouldn’t we worry about that? And I would expect, that as Germany becomes more urban and more depopulated, that there are considerable portions of their countryside that have been farmed for the better part of a thousand years, which are now forest.
Should we worry? Yes, but mainly about the conceit, arrogance, and stupidity of the New Reich.

  11. Well done Germans!
Also, heading off the Russian constriction of your Russian gas supply in payback for stealing 15% of their money in Cyprus.

  12. I lived in Germany for 5 years while serving with the CAF. Two of my German friends, out of a group of 12, were taking environmental studies pertaining to “how they could help save the world”. Both were smug pricks of the highest order.
I’m sure they will be purple with this news.
    Good.

  13. Funny how Germans think.
So miserable and hard assed about some stuff.
Combined with a childlike gullibility when it
comes to rent seeking pied piper ripoffs.

  14. Kate: one correction to your article:
“The Environment Ministry is set to cancel several flagship subsidy programs this month — programs that were to be key elements of Germany’s transition towards complete nationwide 24-7 blackouts.”

  15. Which came first, the C02 or the tree?Take one away, and the equation changes radically. I’m not very bright, but tinker with one, and the other reacts.
