  1. I can’t be smarter than an atheist, I am an atheist:-))))
well, actually atheisim in an absolute belief, and only fools believe in absolutes:-)))
and I got thefirst 9 correct and then dithered and got #10 wrong and knew I did as I hit the next button, I forgot for a moment that catholics ain’t all that bright!!!!

  2. Did that a while ago and still got 100% this time. Still don’t know what American law has to do with religion though.

  3. Well, NME666, I am smarter than you ๐Ÿ™‚
    I got 31 correct.
    Never heard of Mainomides.
    Born again believer in Christ.

  4. I concur with bluetech. Who is this Mainomides? Sounds like a Greek food to me.
Anyways, I got 30/32 and am not an athiest, agnostic, Catholic, Jew, Mormon, JW, Hindu, Rastafarian
or any of the others except a protestant Christian.
    Have a good evening.

  5. Mainomides, a great Jewish Rabbi. Only got 29 right but I am not surprised that sda readers are a well read lot.

  6. 29 and Atheist. I had to know what I was rejecting. Damn American questions!
I would like to compare Kate’s readers vrs the rest. This blog seems to attract people who question and think for themselves. While I am an atheist I am culturally a Christian – can’t shake the culture.

  7. 30 out of 32, but then you don’t have to be smart to be a Christian, you need only to believe.

  8. 32 for 32…
I’m not the sharpest tack in the box either.
I mean no disrespect but…really?!? Folks out there are scoring less than 90% on this survey? Oye…
People, this is basic friggin’ information, not Jeopardy trivia. You need to know this stuff, you just do!

  9. Aside from the Great Awakening question (which I got right BTW), how was this even a quiz?
I wanna know who thinks Mother Teresa was a Shintoist or whatever. Oy.
Oh well. I like anything that makes me feel clever.

  10. Quiz results
    31 Correct 1 Wrong
You answered 31 of 32 questions correctly for a total score of 97%.
I cratered on the Great Awakening question…must have been sleeping during that part of history lessons. ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. 29/32, just passable for a Christian Atheist.
The SDA commentators are doing well, perhaps we should challenge rabble.ca to see how they’d do. I can guess.
First, they’d whine about the American questions on a matter of principle(but don’t ask them what principle) and boycott them. Then they’d whine some more that there were neither questions about Gaia, nor about David Suzuki(their Prophet of Doom).
I was hoping the Christian Science Monitor would have had a question about the last Chapter 9, verse 5 of the Koran (the verse of the sword) and why it over rides(abrogates) earlier ones.
Funny, how the Western media keep neglecting our religious education.

  12. Bah! 29/32. I am dubious about the statement that Protestants are to be saved by faith alone. Whatever happened to predestination?

  13. I don’t know why you’re being so hostile. I said I liked you.
I fear Osumashi’s right about your rage issues. You know. Macho Grande. I guess those wounds run…. pretty deep.

  14. I am dubious about the statement that Protestants are to be saved by faith alone. Whatever happened to predestination?
Faith alone is the foundation of Protestantism. Google the Five Solas.
God knows, you don’t. From your point of view you have free will.
Think if it like a movie. The people who live in the film don’t know how it is going to end. But God (who lives outside of time) has already seen the spoilers :-).

  15. Like many here, I’d never heard of the “Great Awakening”; guess I slept through it.
Think Q12 was poorly phrased, but whatever. 30/32, and can’t believe that anyone with
half a brain would get less than 24.
    I notice phil-lacy didn’t share his score.

  16. Don’t get him angry. You wouldn’t like him when he’s angry. He won’t turn into the Hulk or anything. Just red in the face.
A lot of these questions are pretty general. Only a few specific ones.

  17. Former atheist but now a follower of the Man from Galilee.
I got all 32 correct which I couldn’t have done when I was an atheist,(albeit a much younger man)even though I thought I knew everything then.

  18. 32/32 by a Christian Atheist.
But only 31/32 according to the quiz, which claims that Hinduism is the wrong answer on Q4, which it is not.
And pure luck on the great awakening one, really had no idea.

  19. Did not do as well as the rest of you, although it was above the atheist average (but I did know about the Great Awakening!). Probably would have done better if I had not slept through church (my Mother’s fur coat was so soft and the sermons so boring).
I was very surprised to not have answered the agnostic question correctly. Always thought an agnostic believed in God, just not one in particular.

  20. Well, hallelujah! ‘Got 94% (30 of 32, and I could argue one of the answers: Protestants are often known for their “cry”: Sola Scriptura!).
I guess I amsmarter than an atheist — but mainly because I actually believe in God. ๐Ÿ˜‰ (And I’m a Catholic!!!!)

  21. 30/32, consider myself a hopeful agnostic. Haven’t given up on the idea just yet. And I got the faith and protestant question wrong, which was the religion i was raised in. Apparently not very thoroughly.
Embarrassing to admit how I was reminded of some of the answers. For example, would i have gotten the Abraham question if I hadn’t listened to countless versions of Highway 61 Revisited a zillion times? Or heard a comedian’s routine which included: “Uh, Moses, could we get a look at that map?”
    I guess it all counts.

  22. phil: “Whoever claims they got this question correct is therefore also in error.”
Wait a minute. The question was: “Which of these religions aims at nirvana, the state of being free from suffering?”
Buddhism and Hinduism are both correct answers so whoever gave either response is right. The quiz was flawed, not the quiztakers. There was no option to give both answers.
So, no, phil whoever claims they got this question correct is therefore *not* in error.
Two commenters have called themselves “Christian atheists”. I wonder if they’re both waitresses at McDonald’s.

  23. Agnostic. 30/32. Like others didn’t know Mainomides and got the Catholic Protestant one wrong even though I was raised Catholic.

  24. “…a high score indicates absolutely nothing, given the simplicity of the questions.”
    Posted by: phil
Regardless of the simplicity of the questions, a high score indicates you know more of this stuff than the people who get a low score.

  25. I jus dunno…..30/32
I maintain the Islam is not a religion….MHO.

“Buddhism and Hinduism are both correct answers so whoever gave either response is right. The quiz was flawed, not the quiztakers. There was no option to give both answers.”
    I agree

  26. Well, I’m a bright one, to be sure: 32/32. This was a quiz I could have aced in Grade 8. Seriously.

  27. 28/32,had NO idea the Catholics believe the cracker and wine turn into the blood and body of Christ!
Also figured the Catholics and salvation was the same as the Protestants. It’s been over fifty years since I attended (Knox Presbyterian)Sunday School or Church,so the old memory ain’t too bad.
Never heard of “The Great Awakening”, which was “great” in whose opinion?
And got one of the questions on U.S. Supreme Court decisions, which I believe is forgivable as I’m a Canadian atheist, not an American. I’ll admit ignorance when any American can tell me about any SCC decision.
The quiz was fun, enjoyed it more than the halftime show at yesterday’s NO power outage.

  28. 32 of 32. More knowlegeable than your average atheist. Whether I’m smarter or not, that’s a whole ‘nuther question.
About that Great Awakening question, you weren’t asleep during History, you were asleep during American Literature, which, if you’re a SDA native, wouldn’t exactly be a shock. (btw, do y’all Canuckians have HS classes in Canadian Literature?)
“Sinners In The Hands of An Angry God” – his most famous sermon.

  29. “Two commenters have called themselves “Christian atheists”. I wonder if they’re both waitresses at McDonald’s. ”
If you think a bit, unless you have forgotten how, you will understand what “christian atheist” means.
    Are there waitresses at McDonald’s?

  30. Johan i Kanada, good one, I was wondering if someone would comment on that. Perhaps there should be a thread: “Are you smarter than a sectarian Christian?”
