Notice that it has now grown from “Residential Schools” to day schools, where the Natives returned to the reserve, or their homes at night. Of course, the blackmail against John Furlong couldn’t have come about without it. My gym teacher made me run extra laps if he thought I was doggin’ it!

  5. The photo-op with Justin will not doubt start donations flooding in. The More Idle than Ever crowd was flashing-mobbing a mall in Moncton today (the Maritimes’ Boxing Day) and one of their members expressed her delight that the place was full as it meant that they were all there to support the movement.
    I can only hope that there is no climb-down on the Prime Minister’s part. Give in even once to redmail and there is no way back. I hope that folks in government are old enough to remember Bobby Sands. Oh, yes, after he starved himself to death, he appeared in posters on the walls of a number of university students looking for a transgressive icon to decorate their rooms, but very few people today could tell you who he was or what he wanted.

    Here in Sarnia Ontario we have been putting up with the closing of a CN Rail line because the Indians are pissed off at the Feds. My suggestion that a freight train be allowed to proceed at full throttle did not meet with popular approval.

  8. o give you an idea of how this woman has literally grown fat on taxpayers funds in 2010 $34 million was pumped into the Attawapiskat reserve of some 1,500 people. $11.2 million, 32% of the reserves grants and 36% of its entire expenses went to the band leaders, like Chief Spend, salaries and benefits while the rest of the band lived in 3rd world squalor.
    Trudeau’s dad and Chretien bailed on solving the first nations affairs by failing to follow through on the only solution to this ever expanding problem. Pay a decent sum to each native and thats the end of it. If you want to live on an unsupportable piece of land in the middle of nowhere that is your call and you are on your own.
    No treaty ever signed would have given the natives what they demand today. Talk to or read the comments of people who actually worked on these reserves building and endlessly repairing their establishments to really get a grasp on the futility of their task.

    Chretien’s White Paper,if enacted,would have resolved the Indian issue once and for all, but the Indian politicians howled blue murder as they saw their fat meal ticket about to be cancelled.

    Back on the 11th of Dec.,the great broadcaster of all nations ran a piece on the Chief and the start of her ‘soup and drug’ diet.
    She was savaged by the cbc crowd. They mocked her and her tiny ‘nation’ of idle hands.
    Today,she is the new media darling. The only thing that changed was that our media ‘betters’,the stewards of our morals and intellect,turned the page and saw an opportunity to go after the PM.

  20. QNDPS Could you be any more vacuous? Let me try and walk you through this…O.K.? SDA provides a service, that judging from the traffic, is widely appreciated. While those who provide content here do it free of charge, there are costs associated… ie bandwidth. Patrons of this internet establishment can donate to offset those costs if they so wish.
    Contrast that with a hunger strike by a woman who collects substantial government funds both personally and on behalf of her constituents. Also note that there are questions about how those funds have been handled. What costs do you figure are associated with a hunger strike? Groceries?
    If you can’t at least be relevant…maybe STFU and save yourself some embarrassment and SDA some bandwidth.

  26. Phil, I see free loading farmers all the time on my way to work in Shilo. Their lazy asses are out working their fields, usually before dawn. I envy their idleness as they sit in their tractors plowing in the spring and their combines harvesting in the fall. They really display their sloth as they move around irrigating devices during the summer heat to keep their fields moist. And when I see them spreading stinky fertilizer on those same fields I am disgusted by their free loading and want to yell at the top of my lungs in anger. Its a good thing I buy my vegetables at the supermarket. I’d hate to have to buy them from those layabout farmers. I’d be supporting a system of welfare where I definitely don’t get a return on my investment.

  30. My wife is from a pretty good aboriginal community.
    We lived there and raised our kids until we decided that it was better to leave as the opportunities for our kids were significantly better than staying “on the rez.”
    Wife is proud of her heritage and we teach the kids to be proud of all the different communities they draw their lineage from.
    But, I think it’s unlikely we’ll ever move back.
    While a good, solid community, without the kind of graft and corruption of some communities, there is still an overarching sense of entitlement and expectation that the money will flow.
    Or as one of my wife’s family members said, who moved out of the rez too, “it breeds mediocrity.”
    Sadly, that is true.
    So, we moved and, frankly, couldn’t be happier.
    Yeah, we could be living in a nice house, paying no property tax and a mortgage totalling $200/month but why raise our kids on the rez when the world is so much bigger and far more interesting?

  35. Indian affairs is a massive black hole that chews up approx. 10 billion $ a year. About the same as our entire military budget. Of course, a healthy portion of that goes to make work programs to support the thousands of snivel servants throughout the land. Considering the Indians lost their wars a couple hundred years ago , perpetuating this guilt trip has really paid off. They are rewarded handsomely even for our great great grandfathers screwing around with them. They want every amenity the white man has to offer but still want to be seen as noble Indians. What a crock. Thanks to the taxpayer funded white lawyers, the CBC which has never seen a Indian that wasn’t a victim and brain dead judges with their idiotic decisions. Since whites will be a minority in this country in less than 30 years I’m pretty sure the gravy train will derail long before that. Thankfully the CBC will also be on the dust heap long before then and the Indians will have to get a life, get a job and get out of our wallets too. Someone should mention to Indian affairs that this is 2013 , not 1813. Time to grow up.

  40. What’s your problem with hard working farmers that pay for their RVs?
    When we had the farm there was no time or money for RV or boating on the lake that was 5 minutes away.
    I see needy people constantly, and I will help them because I can, and because they are in a rut.
    When millions of bucks go to one community after another, year after year, and they expect the handouts, and makes no attempt to fix their own problem, that is not a rut, that is a culture of entitlement and they do not have my sympathy.
    And we support hard working local business, or bloggers. Our money, our choice.
    Send us a picture of you handing 100 bucks to the folks on the reserve, or the hungry family down the road.

  41. Phil, farmers work pretty hard.. And from what I’ve seen it seems to take up most of the year. Even now in the dead of winter, I still see them working. To say they only work a couple of mnths a year only highlights your ignorance. A farmer provides food for everyone. Would you prefer they stop their work?
    Now with the ntive population, we’ve been shovelling money into their communities for years for no real inprovement or benefit to anyone. The fact that you are standing up or corruption while condemning those who actually work again highlights your low character and contemptfor those who feed you.

    As for Idle Some More crowd, if the powers that be cave in, I suggest a scorched earth policy be implemented. They can have the land they think they own but nothing serviceable on it, whether it be a building, house or road.

  46. If you ate today, thank a farmer. Any of my tax money that goes to farmers is money well spent. Keeping farms alive and well is important for our future. Every dollar invested in our farms pays back at least double, likely more. Any of my tax money that goes to aboriginal communities is just sucked into a bottomless pit with nothing to show for it.

  50. Why do the Natives feel that the European white man needs to repay them forever for conquering Canada a few hundred years ago? If we owe them forever for becoming dominant in Canada, why don’t the Cherokee and Iroquois (for example) owe countless other Indian tribes that they conquered before the white mans arrival?
    For example, why wouldn’t the Iroquois have to pay support for the remaining Erie Indians that they conquered and exterminated?
    Me thinks that the Natives believe in the old saw: OK for me but not for thee.
