  1. Shiny Pony will be against the LGR until it becomes expedient to be for some other form of gun control. He is a Liberal, after all. The “Natural Governing Party of Canada” has much to fear from the populace. Gun control is never far from their minds.

  2. What a courageous policy. He is firmly against the gun registry which has already benn abolished and destroyed. I suppose he is against the 2 dollar bill too.

  3. Meaning that the next gun control law that he will vote for won’t be a failure.
I also noticed that he approves of pipelines in general but is opposed to the Northern Gateway in particular.

  4. Notice how carefully the article avoids the issue of how he voted for the long gun registry, and how there is no reference to the past (where, so far as I know he has never made a statement praising gun ownership).
Typical CBC buffoonery, just another reason the Mothercorp should join the gun registry on the ash heap of history.

  5. $100 bucks to anyone who can get him to repeat the “LGR is a failure” or “owning a gun is part of Canadian culture” remarks in French on Quebec TV.

  6. His words in the interview have me thinking that he’s going to ban outright, the ownership of all guns in all areas of the country not considered rural… and bonafide hunters can store their guns at government approved gun storage centers, in rural areas.

  7. Having a firearm is an ‘important facet of Canadian identity,
Whoah. WHOAH. Full stop. Gun ownership just became politically correct, without the 2nd A or an organization of the same power as the NRA. Gun owners are now a respected and even feared voting block. That’s a serious accomplishment when the Liberal Party starts minding you, even if Trudeau is full of it.
I increasingly think Trudeau, whatever his past derps, is as dumb as a fox. He knows who to appeal to and has a pretty good idea how. If Trudeau is smart enough to maneuver to the right of the CPC on at least this issue, I expect Findlay and others are. The Conservatives, being bovine and arrogant, will no doubt let it happen.

  8. this one’s for les anglais
the french already got “too many albertans in gov’t” schtick.
what happened to the stache-goatee? too passe Movember?

  9. For a nanosecond there he had me doubting if abolishing the LGR was a good idea!
After all is he right about anything? Then I realized like all Liberal Progressives he’s a pathological liar so abolishing the LGR was indeed a good idea, one of the reasons his party is nothing more than a lying soapbox of pandering has-been’s.

Yup it’s time to get our concealed carry rights back, along with “Stand Your Ground” & “Castle Laws”.
That little germ living in daddy’s thin shadow said “…we need to keep our cities safe….”. Why not start with actually holding criminals once convicted, and stop importing the Third World?
    .

  10. “The NEP was well intentioned.”
Yes, the intention was to break the West and he’ll do it if he gets the chance.

  11. “Can someone explain to me why he is called Shiny Pony?”
Don’t forget first there was John “Silky Pony” Edwards; so the name is partially borrowed from the Americans but it still suits Trudeau well.

  12. Like his father, he puts a finger in the wind, which way should I sway today, likely the middle one like his detestable father figure, ahem, when riding the train.

  13. “my biggest challenge is getting people to know everything that I am and everything that I’m not.”
No challenge at all,Justin baby! We KNOW you’re a silver spoon, unaccomplished son of a dilletante, and we ALSO know what you are NOT: our future Prime Minister.
Trudeau reminds me of our own beloved Christy Clark, all over the map politically, trying to be all things to all people and ending up being the choice of NO ONE.
But, for you lady MSM Reporters, he DID carry a 30-06 one time! I bet you’d like to check out the barrel length on Justin’s rifle anytime!
    C’mon, ladies,admit it.

  14. Apparently, that vote against the abolishment of the lgr.. was ‘a long time ago’ in liberal speak.. Zackly like the Albertans quote.

  15. The only gun he ever saw is when he walked in on his mommy who was getting drilled by a RCMP

  16. Philip, about 25 years ago, there was a cartoon and a series of toys called the shiny pony.. my oldest daughter had one, it was sort of a unicorn thingy, that came complete with hair brush for the mane.. It was cutting edge, lovey, touchy feely at the time, and sooooo much better than those evil toy guns.. As such, the leftards loved it, and normal people bought them for their kids, and secretly puked.

  17. I just woke up from a nap – I was reading this article and thinking that I crossed into an alternate reality while I was asleep.
Till I got to the part about a “gunman” killing 14 women in Montreal in 1989 and I knew I was in Canada.
If I had actually crossed into another dimension I would have read a balanced report indicating 21 women and men were shot, that the perp was was born muslim, and that his real name was Gamil Gharbi.
    De-fund the CBC now.

  18. Be careful. I read that he doesn’t like the CURRENT registry.
We don’t know if he’d be in favour of a new one, with a larger class of prohibited weapons (like the scary-looking-but-just-a-rifle AR15). I’ll bet my semi-auto Soviet 1954 Tula Armory Simonov carbine that is what he’d be after, the weasel.

  19. Be careful. I read that he doesn’t like the CURRENT registry. The “as it was” quote lets loose the lie, and leaves him the room to completely flip-flop on that promise.
We don’t know if he’d be in favour of a new one, with a larger class of prohibited weapons (like the scary-looking-but-just-a-rifle AR15). In fact, I’ll bet my semi-auto Soviet 1954 Tula Armory Simonov carbine that is what he’d do after all, the weasel.

  20. Could this supremacist bigot be any more full of schit? The little turd voted against getting rid of the LGR but “thinks” it was a bad idea to have it in the first place… Tribal bigots have a real talent for speaking out of both sides of their mouths, don’t they? I wonder what other Liberal boondoggles Turd Jr. thinks are bad ideas, but would vote to impose them anyhow… “The best way to protect french in North America is to expand and conquer Canada”… forced “bilingualism’ and it’s hideous costs, make the LGR look like sound fiscal and social policy… the man/boy is a bigot and liar, just like the old man… say whatever you gotta say, or in Trudopes case, whatever he’s told to say… get lost, you colossal “POS”.

  21. “The only gun he ever saw is when he walked in on his mommy who was getting drilled by a RCMP ”
Um, “Inn”, that was his Daddy that was “getting drilled” by an RCMP.They were playing “musical ride”.
Mom preferred rock stars and Ted Kennedy.

  22. “There is no concept, no idea that gun ownership is ever going to be under attack for law-abiding hunters and farmers across this country. But we need to keep the cities safe. And I don’t see that that’s an unsolvable solution,” Trudeau said.
Code speak for, “hunters and farmers may keep their long guns but no guns within city limits. No handguns, and no guns if you are not a farmer or hunter. Kiss my butt, pretty boy.

  23. Canadas electronic and print media can polish this Turd all they want, the fact is that he has zero values and even less integrity. He voted in favor of the gun registry no matter what the slimey Bas%$%d says now,he sat in that Quebec interveiw and plainly said that Canadas problems were that too many Albertans were making policy. Then he said that Canada was better served when Quebecers were in charge and that the country belonged to Quebec. He might be able to convince the Gimmee Gimmee bunch from Quebec to vote for him, and maybe even the urban Ontario entitlement crowd who never saw a benefit they didn t like to vote for him,but the rest of the country will see through him and realize that he has daddys arrogance and mommys brains.

  24. Gotta love the “justin” logo.
Is that a first name thing like “Bono”, or better yet, “Ludacris”?

  25. “Philip, about 25 years ago, there was a cartoon and a series of toys called the shiny pony”
    Posted by: robins111 at December 1, 2012 9:44 PM
Apologies for being pedantic, robins111, but it’s “My Little Pony.” It’s made of plastic and mainly appeals to little girls. Not a bad name for Trudeau then.
I don’t think there was a “Silky Pony” or a “Shiny Pony” until John Edwards and Justin Trudeau came along.
Let’s hope Trudeau’s career ends in obscurity like Edward’s.

  26. Then perhaps Mr. Trudeau will decriminalize the simple non criminal possession of sporting arms by removing the licencing system Mr. Harper was too gutless to do, and go back to the cost effective system of a federal certification permit which his father wisely created – police scrutinized vetting of people who want to acquire a firearm without criminalizing those who already own and gave owned firearms for tears with no record of abuse. Heck you want to decriminalize pot smokers, why not duck hunters.
Wadda ya say shiny Pony – reinstate your Dad’s firearms FAC system and dump this draconian crimnalizing PAL/classification system and even I’ll vote for you.
Maybe these are just the kid;s good instinks being blurted out – he’ll change totally when the Librano statist policy succubas get their hooks into him.

  27. Just another Lieberal. The last thing Canada needs is another Cuebeker – and especially this one – in a position of authority.

  28. Rizwan, 11:11a.m. — Great statement that has the added value of being true, my friend, but you stole my line!
I was going to pick up the theme from the other day that somehow the Liberals were for the oil sands in the Chretien years, but opposed to them now.
To modify your expression, “He was for the LGR/oil sands development before he was against it.”
Yukon Gold, 9:55p.m. and others expressing the same sentiment — bang on, as Mr. Martin used to say every three seconds: a form of weasel words, and rather inept at that.
The LGR, whether in its previous or new, improved future incarnation, cannot otherwise be understood without recognizing that it was a bald-faced attempt to shift blame for what happened at Ecole Polytechnique to long-gun owners everywhere. Without my minimizing the disgrace and sorrow that we all felt about what happened there, until Mr. Trudeau acknowledges forthrightly what the LGR was really all about and respectfully suggests that the Province of Quebec quit playing charades on the subject, we will be able to sleep peaceably knowing that nothing has changed.
As many have noted elsewhere, C-68 contained much more than the LGR. The LGR was insulting in its motivations to everybody off the island of Montreal (although many weren’t smart enough for a long time to see it — and many still aren’t), which is why, IMO, it’s demise ultimately carried. Don’t assume that all CPC supporters understand the rest of C-68 — many aren’t gun owners and have no knowledge about the issues involved, including me. So, I’d say have at the next set of issues and start letting us know.
P.S. The other day I asked my wife, who’s a horse lady from way back in her days growing up on the farm, about the definition of “Shiny Pony”. She said, “Well, every three ring circus has a Shiny Pony.”

  29. And just while we’re at it, doesn’t this statement from the link sound pretty outrageous?
“Yes, the RCMP guarding me had handguns and I got to play with them every now and then,” said Trudeau, quickly adding that the RCMP was “very responsible” around him and his siblings.
    I am missing something?

  30. Too bad the RCMP didn’t let that little Justin toddler play with their handguns just a bit more.
    Accidents can happen.
