    I’d say the latter, given that he ownly named Quebec PMs as being great, and they weren’t all Liberals, at least in by name: Mulroney!
    And he didn’t mention that other famous Liberal PM who dominated Canada for decades – you know, whatsisname – believed he could communicate with his mother via a dog, or something.

    When asked about his policies ,the shiny pony replies;

    Basically,he said nothing,but that may be part of his appeal to Christine. Who doesn’t want an attractive brain dead toy to play with ? You may not want to live with one or have one run your errands,let alone the country,but for a weekend or two,Justin does have appeal.

    Paul Martin,from Windsor,Ontario,though he was elected in Quebec, was not a great PM. He did have a hand in ruining the Liberals,but even with that,he wasn’t a great PM.

    1) Using the billions generated by Mulroney’s GST
    2) Cutting transfer payments to the provinces.

  15. First off, we can at least thank the French (from France though, not Canada…) for having women first wear their underwear below the waist during the French Revolution. The “pair” idea most certainly is associated with the leggings, and I concur with “Texas Canuck” that it makes no sense for the bra, with two cups (double-barreled) to be referred to in the singular. The French were again implicated in this, as Philippe de Brassière hijacked the designs of the original bra’s creator, Otto Titzling from Germany. Anyways, enough of history and the waywardness of the French. It is still encouraging to cite some positive contributions from their ethnicity, so as to offset the negative and detrimental influences they’ve bestowed upon Canada. It’s a well known fact that the loser from the Plains of Abraham has been an overly-compensated winner on this soil in the generations since. I have welcomed the change to our competent, all-inclusive, national representation, with a stable Conservative majority, and a Prime Minister who leads our nation with wisdom and class, both domestically and internationally. We truly are the envy of the world, if we can just convince most of the ungrateful idiots who live here.

  16. One of the lefties favorite talking points is that more people didn’t vote conservative than those who did, and somehow that refutes the government’s majority.
    However when one looks deeper a different conclusion is obvious. Only 61% of the eligible voters actually voted. More people chose not to vote than the number who did vote for any of the parties. Using lefty logic, more eligible voters didn’t vote for any of the leftist parties than those who did.

  18. In September I attended a conference in wpg where on of the speakers was Peter mansbridge. He related a story about the (first) time he interviewed Barack Obama. Accompanying him and in the room at the time to take notes of obamas answers was the nationals international correspondent nahla ayed (http://www.cbc.ca/thenational/about/correspondents/nahlahayed/).
    After the interview Mansbridge looked towards ayed and asked he what she thought. “He’s gorgeous!!” She gushed. She had not taken down a single note during the ten minute interview.
    Mansbridge related this story to the audience thinking it was humorous. I, as you might imagine thought very differently about it and him.

    No worries there. When you look at it Obama ran a harper style campaign. Defonenopponent early with less than flattering ads. Don’t talk specifics and avoid trouble in the debate….oh and get out the vote.
    Romney did as well as he did because he did not run an Iggy campaign. He would have been better to run the harper 2006 campaign, as a challenger. Message a day to keep the media on their toes.
    Obama did almost lose. The sandy star turn helped him or broke mitts momentum. But the get out the vote, whether tainted by fraud or not, was better on o AMA’s part.
    Mitt got defined and couldn’t crack it. The libs and media tried to define harper in 2006 but the message a day substance helped break through. By the end even the media knew harper was something real.
    Mitt avoided specifics. A legit strategy that worked for o lamao in 2008. But there he could avoid specifics as challenger….wave election. Mitt counted on this being g the same…was almost right.
    As for silky pony. Trust me, there is a “book” on Justin now that will be unleashed if he wins. Mulcair was a different story and a different opponent. Skilled polutuician that is harder to pre define.
    Libs are in a tough spot. They need the freshness of Justin but they also need someone more skilled and smart. They are really in quite a box and the mistake goes back to electing dion, that sets the chain of events up.
    Harper, though, has his focus on mulcair. A resurgent nut insufficiently strong liberal party will help. The cons may want Trudeau if he siphons votes away from the NDP in Quebec. Those voters aren’t cons a d never will be.
    One way or another Justin will not be prime minister.

  41. It’s bad enough that, generally speaking, the press are in the tank for the left, and that they’ll willingly run interference for them. Most of them at least try to maintain the facade that they are impartial arbiters of the facts. I’m sure many of them really believe that myth, rationalizing how a minor Tory gaffe is front page material of earth-shattering consequence while repeated assertions by Liberals that uppity Albertans need to shut up and go home barely rates a mention.
    But this fawning coverage of Justin Trudeau takes the cake. The media isn’t even trying to hide that they are collectively wetting their panties, gushing over the dreamboat emperor-to-be. They want a rockstar politician, an Obama of the north, to call their own.
    On the plus side, it’s more blatant evidence that the media have become shills, and deserve the decreased readership/viewership they have been experiencing. Everything they report concerning politics should be taken with several grains of salt.
    They’re still going to have a powerful affect on the next election, though. The press had their thumb on the scale for the American presidential race, giving the White House a pass on the Benghazi scandal, playing up Obama riding to the rescue of Sandy victims, etc. That can’t NOT tip the scales in close races.
    I think the Tories need to be reasonably worried about Justin. He will be built into a messiah, with a powerful cult of personality insulating him. Harper is not likeable. A steady hand on the tiller, yes, a competent manager of the country, yes, capable of taking a stand on principles, yes, not prone to dithering about important decisions, yes. But he just didn’t give off the warm and fuzzies, which so many people think they need to feel about their Prime Minister, that the media tells them they need to feel.
    My advice to the Tories would be two-fold for how to undercut a Liberal comeback under Justin. First, be able to go to the public and say “What ‘Hidden Agenda’? We’ve had a majority for X years where we could have rammed through anything we wanted to.” Be able to bury that meme, and keep the backbench muzzled so you don’t give them any grounds to revive it. Second, choose an issue that really resonates with younger voters and back it to the hilt, and start it well BEFORE the election to show that you mean it. Say, decriminalization of pot. Myself, I’d recommend something tech-heavy, like Net Neutrality, or repudiating draconian laws and treaties being lobbied for by media corporations (they aren’t on your side anyway). It’s esoteric enough that older voters won’t be swayed either way, but the younger ones will take notice. Many of them don’t really trust leftist parties to follow through on their promises anyway (eg. Obama dropping any interest in same-sex marriage or pot legalization once the votes are in). Show them that you mean it, and you can siphon off their votes before they devote their energies to the Justin campaign.

The USA election taught us that. Take back the schools, own the airwaves. Make sure your message is seen and heard in every household every hour of evry day.
