A consortium led by French nuclear group Areva has ditched a A$1.2 billion concentrated solar thermal project after the federal government pulled critical funding.
The Solar Dawn consortium, which includes developer Wind Prospect, has been plagued with problems since winning $464 million in federal funding through the Solar Flagship program to develop a 250-MW solar thermal plant in Queensland’s outback.
Business is business….a loser ain’t business.

Even spend thrift French government knows a funding black hole when they see it – as are most green energy mega projects – these are the con jobs of racketeering contractors. The world’s immediate energy needs can be filed quite environmentally soundly by the new clean-burn coal fired generation technology. But the relatively inexpensive task of converting existing coal fired generators and building new ones to meet need, will languish in political taboo while empty headed deep pocked trend-conscious kleptocrats exhaust public funding and grid capacity chasing these unworkable green tech white elephants.
America under Obamunism will be the green energy program to watch – here is a nation at saturation point for electric energy productive capacity – they have lots of cheap coal but will struggle debt-subsidizing every flaky green energy project there is until the lights go out. Of course, the more costly energy becomes the more industry is chased off shore, and the added cap and trade taxing will chase even more industry away. So Obama’s energy agenda is a triple whammy for the economy/budget. Don’t ever think that other more cautious governments are not watching him systematically destroy US energy and industrial capacity – they will lure the fleeing business with cheaper energy, we should be in there like wolves getting our share of fleeing US business.
