  1. Wow! Who knew nasty e-mails warranted so much attention. In retrospect, Ambassador Chris Stevens would have gotten more attention sending snotty e-mails to random citizens rather than asking the State Department for more security.

  2. I have read a variety of articles about the Petraeus situation and they all refer to him as “Mr Petraeus”. I could be wrong, but when you become a general officer you are entitles to that title forever. I think they are being very rude by referring to him as “Mr Petraeus”

  3. If that’s all it took, should someone send them an e-mail about Barrack Obama?
    Never mind, Fred cleared that up for us.

  4. The General had a fabulous career, he’s been called the greatest General since Hannibal,and he made it to the TOP,in the military,then the Central INTELLIGENCE Agency!
    BUT, he was SO F***ing stupid that he sent E-mails to a woman he was having an affair with that clearly indicated he was having an affair! Aaaaaargh!!!
    Sorry,General, I have to conclude that you are a bloody,egotistical idiot.

  5. Minuteman, it’s not just general officers who are able to use their ranks for life. I served in the RCAF/Canadian Forces and may use my actual rank on retirement or the old RCAF equivalent. In a signature block, I just put ‘(Retired)’ after the rank. One personal irritant is forms which offer a choice of salutations: Mr. Mrs, Miss or Ms. That doesn’t give we old soldiers a choice we want to use. That said, I agree with your basic comment and it should be General Petraeus, he gave up the simple “Mr” 40 years ago.

  6. While the whole timing is highly suspicious the cover story is a little more than just nasty emails.
    Apparently they were threatening. Now if they were threats to kill then FBI involvement might be warranted. It also depends on who this other woman was. Sources have said. Think of a small circle of people who knew each other.
    It would be useful to know who Paula broad well allegedly threatened and why. It could have been someone of some importance, which would also bring the FBI in. Whether it was broad ell or her husband using broad well’s email remains to be determined.
    Lots of questions need to be answered.

  7. john g: Sounds so much like a letter Broadwell’s husband could write, it must be him reaching out.
    It’s very difficult to look at the General and imagine any young woman being sexually attracted to him, especially having a husband as handsome as hers is.
    It could be a powerful woman desiring a powerful man but, really, with the position she had herself, and two beautiful children, what would make her compromise herself let alone the General whom she admired and respected?
    Under the desk? C’mon, that’s so juvenile!
    Someone needs to find out where he was when the Ambassador’s requests for help were being ignored.

  8. What is the big deal? A general screws his lover,and retires.Meanwhile,the Muzzie in charge is where?And doing what to help save the USSR and the economy? Meanwhile,snacking on vension,taters and fresh veggies,with a smooth red wine.And people in the center of the so called “free” world are starving.Got any power there in Kookky Island yet,leftards?

  9. How does that go about a Woman Scorned?
    no wait,
    Hell hath no fury like a pissed off wife/scorned.
    that’s still not right..

  10. My apologies for any weird spelling… using an annoying Apple appliance.
    I see this as a more sinister affair altogether. General Petrayus had embarassed the president over the Benghazi affair, then as soon as thie election is over with he is humiliated and forced to resign with this ridiculous and convoluted cover story. This story is no more comprehensible nor believable than the original YouTube video cover story for the Benghazi affair.

  11. The General aside, this, in one of the comments following the article, almost made me choke on my tea:
    “This news makes the photograph released on Tuesday of President Obama hugging Mrs. Obama (the most Tweeted image and Facebook-liked image in history) all the more poignant.”
    How could one EVER hope to communicate with an individual who’d believe stuff like this?
    The divide is insurmountable.

  12. I meant Gen. Petraeus. Original comment was made with an iPad appliance that repeatedly replaced the words as I typed them. Very annoying.

  13. You likely would not complain to the FBI about e-mails unless you knew that there was some heavy people involved,or you were a psycho.
    IMHO.it is extremely unlikely that the FBI just happened to have “stumbled across him”.
    The man was foolish to have an affair while married, esp. in his position. The timing of this ‘stumble’ is just too good for the Obama. Even if Petraeus testifies ,his testimony will not carry the clout that it did a few days ago.

  14. the head of the CIA isn’t smart enough to hide an affair???
    ..now that’s scary on many levels

  15. Timing is everything.
    To be honest, I thought until Nov. 7 2012, that “Fiscal Cliff” was the white middle aged accountant hip hopper I see at the mall some time…

  16. BUT, he was SO F***ing stupid that he sent E-mails to a woman he was having an affair with that clearly indicated he was having an affair! Aaaaaargh!!!
    Sorry,General, I have to conclude that you are a bloody,egotistical idiot.
    ..or perhaps there’s more to this than the MSM propaganda.
    the head of the CIA isn’t smart enough to hide an affair???
    ..now that’s scary on many levels

    Exactly….. somebody gets it.

  17. Women never hesitate to tell when scorned. This reminds me of a Crewleader at work who was never at work, but at his cabin on the lake with his Mistress. He dumpted her. Not only did she inform the City of his activities by the tax department, along with the wife of course.
    These guys are idiots.

  18. If only there were a Bush around. Then the media would be all aPlame, I mean aflame, to get to the bottom of this.

  19. The New York Times has an “ethicist”? That is like Michael Moore having a physical trainer.

  20. FBI involvement, and a decorated general and top civil servant busted merely for dipping his pen into someone elses inkwell? I doubt it. In fact, the story stinks to high heaven. Didn’t the Administration recently have a nasty problem in which the CIA was involved? How do you spell B-E-N-G-H-A-Z-I ?

  21. So the Fu&*^ing Big Idiots are chasing Patreaus,and not investigating the Muzzie in Chief? The Yanks are soooooooooo screwed,but they do seem to be enjoying it. Hows that power thing in NYC? As Kathy would say,shoulda picked their own cotton.

  22. Aviator, a question. Would that not be for Captain and above?
    Latitude, exactly, and that is why, as Zog says, this stinks to high heaven and there has to be something else behind it.

  23. A judge would have had to have signed the order to monitor email of a us citizen.
    But they were monitoring Blackwell not petraeus as far as I can tell. Formally that is.
    It really is not clear if petraeus gmail account was actually monitored or just Blackwells as a receipient.
    So lots of deniability to go around. Which makes it well crafted.
    So who is the other woman that was threatened abd was petraeus fooling around with her as well. Petraeus hasn’t disclosed that if that is the case and represents a second embarressment….are there others.
    Let’s hope this was one time and that petraeus has no more skeletons that can be used to threaten.

  24. All it takes to be investigated by the FBI these days in Obamastan is having the wrong type of political bumper sticker.

  25. How convenient this soap opera is the main story now. Everyone’s throwing rocks at Petreaus, (himself included).
    Meanwhile, Shrillary’s laughing,,, O look, A Squirel!! while packing her bags to get out of town before the Benghazi hearings.
    What if there was no affair???
    Of all the letches and perv’s in that administration, he’s the one everyone is gloating over because of how the mighty have fallen?
    Whatever he’s falling on his sword for, it’s got to be bad and he’s protecting somebody or something.
    For all I or anyone else knows, he got setup without an ejection handle.
    I read his resignation letter. He’s saying he did the dirty deed.
    Did he have any choice if this frame up was that convoluted?
    This just reminds me of a sh**ty plea bargain cuz your defense is in the tank with the judge.
    If I’m in denial,,,so be it.

  26. I wonder why this was included and phrased the way it was? Priming the pump for something to come?
    “They also discovered that Ms. Broadwell possessed certain classified information, one official said, but apparently concluded that it was probably not Mr. Petraeus who had given it to her and that there had been no major breach of security.”

  27. Simply ammunition filed away for use at an appropriate time. Petraeus could damage Obama and the slimiest president ever took him down. Perhaps Congress could get a lot of useful info out of Petraeus. He’s already been taken down.

  28. The news said “General” Petraeus married the West Point’s Superintendent’s Daughter.
    First step on the ladder;
    being away from said Daughter,now wife;
    next step on the ladder;
    the need to be as good as the Main Stream Media states he is;
    Media source next step on the ladder;
    Makes dumb decision and succumbs to Chicago Politicians;
    Slides down the later;
    Wondering how “Mr.General” Petraeus became said General other than an excellent writer of reports. Just saying; Cheers;
