…of the CPSU Republican Party decides Ron Paul does not exist:
…
As the roll call of states commenced [and continued], several states listed votes for both Romney and Paul. When repeating back the count, those at the podium cited only the Romney votes.
Voice-brushing.

Not citing the Paul votes was a calculated move, it was extraordinary, explaining that move as mere “stupidity” doesn’t cut it.
It cuts it perfectly. The GOP is the stupid party. There establishment is petty and stupid.
Why has the oh-so-principled Dr. Paul not been running as a Libertarian or an Independent?
He did. In 1988 he ran for LP president candidate. He wanted a seat so he got into the GOP. Simple.
Like maybe send a couple thousand drug dealers/gang bangers to jail first, THEN cut the welfare checks.
Nice. Coming up with the excuses for failure before Willard has even had his chance to fail.
Welfare be-gets crime. And welfare is actually NOT driving the US deficit entitlements are.
Re Israel: RP just wants to stop shovelling money at Israel’s government and he’s right. The US has (too many) aircraft carriers to need an airbase.
While I too have some disagreements with Ron Paul, I must say that he has done more to promote the cause of liberty and a constitutional republic than all the GOP presidential candidates combined from the last seventy years. For that alone, he deserves accolades instead of scorn and derision.
I fear that Romney realizes that he is not mobilizing and energizing his base sufficiently to win easily in November, despite Obama’s horrendous record that should have made a GOP victory a slam dunk. Hence the efforts by the RNC to shut out any criticism or alternatives to Romney and create the image of a united front. But that united front, for all their efforts, is just that: an image.
Over the last several decades, the welfare state has become such a leviathan, and created such a sea of dependents, that those same dependents now fear losing their entitlements more than their freedom and their ability to progress economically. At nearly every step of the way, GOP legislators have willingly participating in this unprecedented and unconstitutional expansion of state power. Ron Paul was one of the few that opposed it, and never backed off from warning people about where it would lead them.
I guess they want the only enthusiastic section of their party to go vote Johnson. GARY JOHNSON 2012. LAS
You support Gary Johnson, but a survey of some of his positions show this guy is nothing but a weird mix of the hard left’s agenda with a sprinkling of his own ramblings. Sort of a George Soros in sheep’s clothing.
For instance, Johnson has nothing but kind words for the EPA : “I happen to think that the EPA is a great example of an agency that, you know, really does identify bad actors, pollutors — without the EPA, maybe we would have polluters that we didn’t otherwise, and when it comes to enforcing action against bad actors, that the EPA plays a really important role in that,” says Johnson. Say what?
Where is Gary on the Muslim takeover of the West? Gary Johnson, in his own words: ” What aspects of our lives have been adversely effected by Sharia law? It seems to me to be just inflammatory to Muslims.”
This is a ” libertarian ” speaking? I wonder how many Paulists out there know their guy Johnson is ok with Sharia?
Johnson also admits he really hasn’t thought it through, but he claims that ” gay rights ” may be on a par with civil rights, and that he opposes gay marriage, but ” is open for debate on the issue” ? When do we get to hear how far he will support the ” gay rights ” agenda?
Johnson believes the US should massively cut research, development, and acquisition of new weapons systems by the US, and massively cut its nuclear force. Apparently, he is see-no-evil on the whole concept of foreign threats to the US, and the civilized world, which probably follows from his benign view of Islam.
Is there any evidence in Johnson’s platform that would show that he is actually a real candidate who is seriously interested in addressing the US’s problems, rather than just another multi-millionaire dabbling in politics as a hobby?
Or does he simply believe that the voters are such slobs that they won’t note his contradictory positions on their way to the voting booth?
I think Romney would’ve won anyway, so it just makes it even stupider. LAS
“Won anyway”? How many legitimate delegates – by your count – did Romney get? How many did Paul get?
What should be the threshold for nomination, in your view? 50%? 60%? 70?
While I too have some disagreements with Ron Paul, I must say that he has done more to promote the cause of liberty and a constitutional republic than all the GOP presidential candidates combined from the last seventy years. Dennis
With full respect, what Paul has done is precisely zero, as he has had essentially nothing enacted into law. Talk does not count.
How, in your view, does Ronald Reagan measure up to Ron Paul, as far as promoting liberty is concerned?
At Phantom,
In terms of Ron Paul’s economic strategy he actually has said numberous times that the plan would be to cut military spending overseas concentrating on a strong home military, and use that money to fund social programs while reducing and grandfathering them by not allowing new people on. There would be no drastic cut but a gradual move towards personal responsibility and the recovery of the private charity industry. I do agree that a massive rapid cut in social programs would cause social strife, but at the same time I think we both agree its part of how they got so dependent in the first place. The president actually has very little ability in that area as it is state and municpally controlled.
In terms of the Departments of Education, Energy, Transport etc. those could realistically be scrapped with little consequence other than unemployment of generally useless bureaucrats. Most of the actual welfare spending and education is done at state and municipal levels. Anyway cutting those departments is something easier said than done, nor would I expect RP to be completely successful in that area but if anyone will have the balls to make some necessary cuts in useless departments it would be RP. Because you and I both know the media would cry as hard as they could for their poor union brothers and saving the kids. I suspect if he were actually elected he would make some significant cuts, the usual union whining and blockades and hijacks by bureaucrats would occur but at the end of the day real people would see that no harmful effects came from this, and support him in a second term… if he could live that long. Kind of like Gary Johnson, Chris Christie, Walker etc. all operating successfully in highly democrat states after making significant attacks on the precious system. Besides if one actually just cut those departments the states would probably have more money to fund any programs people wanted.
Just so you understand where I am coming from in regards to Israel, without saying too much online not only did my ancestors die in the holocaust and I grew up with that being a very palpable thing, but I also due to background have a few friends who fought in the various wars against the current group of racial cleansers who wish to destroy Israel.
I still support Ron Paul. I agree with him that Israel doesn’t need or really benefit from US foreign policy. However when it comes to aid, never fear there are thousands of Jews who send money privately to keep Israel afloat when it needs it. Israel can take care of itself, I truly believe that. Nor do I think RP would allow a second holocaust if it actually came to it. Finally Israel will use its nuclear weapons if it needs to, that I have no doubt, nor do I think any of the other countries in that area are willing to try them.
When it comes to Iran, they’re going to get the bomb without us being able to stop them, just a matter of time. I’m not really afraid of them with it to be honest, any linking of it to any terrorist actions in the US would be met by the most horrible consequences for them – and I actually think if we adopted RP foreign policy and Iran foolishly used their bomb in terrorist activity RP would probably be one of the few politicians to actually have enough balls to smite them back hard in a non politically correct nation building way. I think Iran is more interested in using it as muscle to control local interests. So what, I couldn’t care less about the Middle East in that regard. Trust me, leave that place alone to itself and in no time they’ll be attacking each other.
In terms of military bases in other places, its high time those places learned to defend themselves and appreciate us. All they actually do is bitch and whine about the US. I don’t care about them anymore, let alone want to pay for them to live cozy and protected at our expense.
At small c conservative.
Gary Johnson wants to cut the EPA by 43% and supports Gay Marriage as a constitutional right.
He also wants to cut income tax, corporate tax to 0%, supports the second amendment 100%, and wants to build a strong military without nation building in countries that by and large don’t deserve it. Hardly liberal talking points.
Go read his actual platform.

Get real…………..
OMMAG cheating is the issue, why is everyone talking about anything but?
…and I still see a bunch of people ignoring the fact that mega-cheating was done.
But its OK because……..
EVIL HAPPENS WHEN GOOD MEN DO NOTHING.
langmann – you’re being a bit deceptive there; every one of those quotes was direct from Johnson’s mouth. Are you saying his platform says one thing, and he says things entirely counter to that when he is interviewed?
Your friend favors a 23% VAT, why didn’t you mention that in your spiel on taxes? Or his endorsement by that gold standard of liberalism, the American Civil Liberties Union?
langmann – by advocating Ron Paul, you advocate a world in which Israel stands alone. Israel’s military, like all militaries must have the most up to date weapons technology to prevail, and the only dependable source for that is the US. On Iran, you miss the point – if Iran gets the bomb, their will be proliferation across all the regimes that are enemies to the west. In that scenario, who do you punish if a suitcase nuclear weapon destroys New York? All the nuclear states?
Eliminating the Iranian threat, if done with the gloves off, would be quick, as would the occupation to clean out the program and kill the mullahs.
Luckily for Israel’s citizens, the PM’s policy is reality based, and the vast majority of Israel supporters in the US recognize Romney is the optimal candidate. Obama will lose huge chunks of the Jewish vote, as they understand lives in mortal peril so long as Obama is in office.

Heard Gary Johnson speak the other day. The only thing currently on his platform that you are correct about is the sales tax. Which he also said he’d like to eventually bring down to 0%. Not sure how feasible that is but is what he said. Consumption taxes have the lowest impact on the economy so its still better than Romney.
As to Israel being alone, you have no idea how many Jews would be sending money to support Israel if it needed it. As for arms, RP never said that he’d stop sales. Israel does do quite well in regard to building their own technology however.
As to nuclear weapons. Its a question of when not if Iran will get the bomb. Giving an active weapon away to a terrorist org would be foolish and extremely expensive. More likely what would be given, if anything, would be material to make a dirty bomb: something they can currently do now.
Problem is the nuclear material is very traceable like a fingerprint. Not worth taking that kind of risk of getting converted into the largest parking lot in the Middle East.
Iran wants the weapon to control regional affairs as well as prevent US interference. They’re going to get it, so we’re better off working on strategies to deal with that reality.
Eliminating the Iranian threat, if done with the gloves off, would be quick, as would the occupation to clean out the program and kill the mullahs.
Excuse me for a moment …HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
ok, I feel better now. So, you’ve learned absolutely NOTHING from the experience in Iraq and Af-stan? This fantasy so many so called conservatives have that these wars will be quick and painless would be laughable if it wasn’t so tragic. It cost Canada over $1 billion and almost 200 dead young and women, and accomplished – nothing. Why anyone would believe that Iran – richer, better armed, and just as virulent in its hatred of the West – would be a pushover is beyond me.

Ron Paul RNC Tribute Video. Played right before Rand hit the stage.
Ron Paul has a huge following of passionate right-wingers and *real* conservatives. Only Ron Paul elicits such a high level of devotion among freedom-minded traditionalists. 116 comments on SDA can’t be wrong. No other politician garners this type of loyalty, emotion, and debate.
Oh, and please cease the invective and insults, everyone.
So sorry small con you’re right. GJ doesn’t want to denigrate gays or Muslims or lavish money on corrupt military contractors so he must hate America.
KevinB: What we should have learned form Iraq and Afstan is that initial invasion can go great but nation-building is a bad idea. I am an advocate of eliminating the Iran theocracy.
LAS I’m in favour of turning the entire middle east into one big glass bowl.
Dr. Ron Paul, the Champion of the Constitution, was feared by the ‘left/right’ media slavers from the onset of this election. Fox News lost me when they refused to accept the valid results of the Iowa straw poll because Dr. Paul won that poll. Dr. Paul also won the Iowa primary. The votes were ‘not counted’ in the counties that Dr. Ron Paul won! I was horrified as the rhetoric fired against Dr. Paul from the msm continued for the entire election cycle. All the proof needed to convince any thinking person that the UN picked the President of USA (Bammy or Mitty) has been explained by FREE, LAS, Langmann, Mike, in Calgary, KevinB and other people here who do not climb on collective band wagons just because ‘everyone (msm talking heads) says’.
The next President is the same guy, one with a R and one with a D. It is the job of Patriots to decide which one would be the least destructive to the Constitution of America. Msn won/Patriots lost the first skirmish – I hope that the good guys will win in the congress and in the senate.
BTW, I remember well how the msm called the Reform Party ‘right wing radicals’, ‘crazy uncle Presto’, hayseeds in suits’….tarred and feathered Stockwell Day…. Msm sneered and belittled the Reform M.P.s – Patriotic Canadians did not listen, we persisted and we won. IMO, the Ron Paul Conservative Republican supporters won in America too, because Willard Romney ‘won’ by cheating (with the co-operation of the 3rd estate). Cheaters only ‘win’ once if people are ‘on’ to them because nobody with any sense of self respect/preservation/fair play will play/associate with a cheater. Mitt has lost the respect of Patriots. Hopefully, the last fact could result with Mitt being a lame duck who will not ‘accomplish’ anything (that is on the UN agenda).
Most of the delegates from Texas left with Maine. As many have learned the hard way: When you mess with Texas, you wish you had stayed home.
KevinB – the US has a force of heavy bombers that would reduce Iran to prehistoric conditions within days – B-52’s, B-1Bs, B-2’s and F-15E’s – more than 300 aircraft present a force that Iran could never oppose. The US Navy would mine all Iranian ports, and launch additional air sorties.
The fight would be a reprise of the air campaign against Saddam Hussein in 1991, but with the extinction of the regime as its goal. When the US set out with a similar goal in 2003, that result was achieved very quickly indeed.
Can you outline how Iran would prevail as the US dropped railroad cars of precision ordnance at will throughout the country? How would they oppose the US Navy, and, at minimum, 2 full Marine divisions, US Army heavy armor, supported by infantry divisions, which, on their own, are more powerful than the strongest Iranian divisions.
Lacking their own resources, what force(s) exist that could oppose the US on the air, sea, or land and save the Iranian regime from a determined assult by the US?
langmann – Has Johnson held those positions – such as his lavish praise of the EPA – or not? Has he advocated a 23% VAT, or not? Has he advocated a 43% cut in Defense, or not?
If he has vacated those positions, it simply shows Johnson is a political chameleon, or maybe ” medical ” marijuana wasn’t the only psychedelic he indulged in.
Your views on Israel’s defense are delusional. Without US technology – Israel would face foes armed with the latest products of French, Russian, and soon Chinese arms manufacturers. Israel wouldn’t be developing just a fighter on her own; the question is, could she simultaneously develop all the other parts necessary to maintain an iron wall against her enemies? Time would be on her enemy’s side, and, at some point Israel would be overwhelmed.
Israel faces the constant threat of extinction, and will never be able to relax her guard, or the luxury of taking chances with her defense.
The fight would be a reprise of the air campaign against Saddam Hussein in 1991, but with the extinction of the regime as its goal. When the US set out with a similar goal in 2003, that result was achieved very quickly indeed.
Man, pass me some of what you’re smoking. The US has been in Iraq for 9 years. They still have over 16,000 people at their Baghdad embassy. I’ll bet every single one of them is a cultural or commercial attache, whose sole purpose is to rebuild the business and bustle of Baghdad. Oh, they achieved their goals very quickly indeed, and the occupation has been quick and painless.
Now, you’ll have to excuse me. The Hurt Locker is on TV.
KevinB – you have a hard time with facts.
March 19 ,2003 – start of war against Saddam Hussein
April 2003 – Fall of Baghdad
July 22, 2003 – death of Hussein’s sons
By the end of 2003, most of the 55 most wanted had been captured.
The Hussein regime was finished off in under a year. The surge campaign against Al Quaeda in Iraq ended the terrorist’s reign, and Gaddafi surrendered his extensive chemical weapons program. The only shortcoming was a failure to continue the campaign and end the mullah’s rule in Iran.
Which security objective of the invasion did the US fail to achieve? It worked beyond anyone’s expectations, and all Middle East nations but Iran take pains to please the security vision of the United States.
Can you be specific?
Has Johnson held those positions – such as his lavish praise of the EPA – or not? Has he advocated a 23% VAT, or not? Has he advocated a 43% cut in Defense, or not?
If he has vacated those positions, it simply shows Johnson is a political chameleon
How does that show Johnson to be a political chameleon? Maybe he changed his position pretty sure he did on the EPA. The rest are sensible. Consumption tax is better than income tax and the US Military needs to be cut in half.
Israel can take care of herself. Even is she can’t, that’s not the USG’s responsibility.
Imagine a world where the US Constitution was actually followed.
Since the criminal act of voter fraud perpetuated by the RINO’s has been pulled off “imagine” is all that is left.
SAD
LAS – a VAT plus income tax will be the result of instituting VAT, because no Congress will give away the power of control inherent in an income tax. I think it would be very hard for even Ron Paul to veto legislation that put on a VAT but left a tiny income tax that could, at a later date be revived as a major revenue source. The inherent right of the government to levy income tax originates in the 16th Amendment, and to take that right would require repeal, and a Supreme Court which would refuse to permit its resuscitation under another guise ( an honest SC )
For all these reasons, it’s impossible to imagine the VAT replacing, rather than existing concordant to income tax.
The political energy needed for a VAT would be far better invested in getting rid of spending, defanging the EPA, closing Labor, Commerce, Agriculture, HUD, Education, Energy, etc., etc., etc.
