Here’s irony for you. From the Mica Dam on down, Bonneville Power is running millions of cubic meters of water over the spillways. The Columbia and Kootenay Rivers are running at near record highs. Arrow Lake was 4′ above full pool just a week ago, and the Kootenay was running over the emergency spillway at Bonnington. At the same time, many of the turbines have been bypassed due to low power demands. Apparently, California has chosen to de-link itself from much of this tremendous power source. You know, all that melting snow causes global warming, and if you don’t run it through turbines inside those big, fish killing dams then you won’t contributing to global warming. Man.
If I read the graphs right it seems that approximately 3,100MWs of power was being generated by all the renewable sources combined at 2pm but demand is 41,000MWs so at peak demand more than 90% has to be produced by nuclear reactors or fossil fuel burning plants. This after decades and many billions of dollars in subsidies for renewable electricity sources.
Pity that the Ontario liberals are too blind due to idealogy
to learn from California’s mistake.
Slowing down economic activity at certain times of the day in order to maintain comfort levels in homes will not help the economic recovery.

Irony is that these eco-freaks do not consider hydro power….renewable.
In fact, their wet dream is to remove ALL hydro-electric dams…to let the rivers run free…..picture a hairy legged hippy piroueting in a tutu….

Last I heard California was way behind in their payments to BC Hydro, to the tune of hundreds of millions, probably billions by now.
