Good luck to all Albertans as WRP is the ticket for more responsible government. Particular good look to Link Byfield in his election bid in Edmonton.
Well I did ‘er – for the first time in my life I voted Wild Rose right across the board. King Ralph is gone; and if the liberals are going to hijack my party they can have it – and I will find another one to support.
Good luck Danielle – don’t make us sorry.
Go Wildrose! Will be watching from Manitoba with great interest.Hoping to see msm head-explosions,when results come in.
And no surprise, the Globe and Mail in their lead article has to try and turn the election into a case of minorities-vs-non-minorities, educated versus uneducated, white vs. non-white:
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/dynamic-calgary-holds-historic-vote-in-hand/article2410586/
It really is true that the *only way* the left views the world is through race and grievance. That is why they are such a dangerous force.
HA technically this hread should be empty excpte for the well wishing for the wild rose …why you ask?
We have a news network that is on our side finally and they have done a great job covering all of the elections in this country ..and i hope if anyone decides to watch the election coverage tonight they will show there loyalty to the sun news network they are here for you and are finally showing the other side of the coin and i am soo blessed and lucky to finally have a news network that represet’s much of my opinions and sentiment’s !!
GO WIL ROSE!!!
I voted Wildrose last time around, and this election it is not just going to be a vote in protest. Wildrose will be the governing party by the end of the day, but will we have a majority? I will be so pissed to see a minority, knowing full well that the legislature will be nothing more than a sh!# show.
I spent the last couple of months trying to get 2 of my brothers that live in Alberta engaged in this election.
Both are voting, 1 WRP and 1 maybe. The maybe will probably change since I pointed out
Ms. Redford has trashed St. Ralph. He won’t abide by that.
Plus he thinks Danielle has great tires.
@knacker
I agree look at harpers minority!
nothing get’s done becasue they all have there arms crossed and there bottom lips out if they don’t get there way so everything just sit’s and does nothing .
In Calgary, watch for Calgary-Glenmore and Calgary-Mountain View, currently held by WR and the Liberals, respectively. If the WR wins those two ridings, it will be a good night for conservatives….
Do us proud Alberta – clean sweep of corruption, lethargy, arrogance and entitlement – clean starts are a way of life in Canada’s Premier province.
From BC here, hoping Wild Rose saves the day.
I’m not sure how many Canadians realize what hinges on this election…moreso Albertans.
Let’s hope the election stays honest and no hanky pank at the polls…after all the UN has a vested interest in this one and their ‘agent allie’ is supposed to deliver the Crown Jewel energy rich Alberta to the One World Gov’t fold.
Go get ’em Danielle!
5 votes coming Right up in Mountainview. Lets get rid of Swann!
Go WR!
After twenty eight days on the campaign trail, Albertans head to the polls today. The election is seen as a referendum on the leadership of Alison Redford, Progressive Conservative, perceived by many as a bureaucrat and Danielle Smith of the Wildrose Party.
Redford felt it was important to pass a budget prior to the 28 day election campaign, yet she didn’t campaign on it, instead she has made millions in additional promises, without a plan to pay for them.
While the Progressive Conservative Party in Alberta has been touted, by the national media as a centre of right party, this is no longer the case. Under Redford the party has placed more emphasis on the “Progressive” label.
Redford says she wants to change the “character” of Alberta. She has come across as one who knows what is best for Albertans.
http://albertacowpoke.blogspot.ca/2012/04/election-day-in-alberta-will-it-change.html
Based on the PC ad’s on the radio yesterday, they are scared and are in complete panic mode.
Lets hope the WR can get the vote out.
Hoping that WRP wins big tonight!
After this, it’s time to rid ourselves of all the other pseudo conservative parties and create the real things like our Alberta friends have successfully done.
well I lived in AB
Tobacco taxes.
Why would any “conservative” vote PC with a dumb bag like running it?
Be thankful you have a alternative and keep your expectations very low for my Dany boy.
To follow up on Karl’s comment. Alberta is at a crossroads, just like the US is this year. If Redfraud wins, Alberta is on the road to becoming an Ontario, if Wildrose wins, Alberta will be a beacon of freedom and enterprise.
Hopefully there’s enough Albertans, who like me feel we need “less progressive” and “more conservative” and will be voting Wild Rose today.
Progressivism, like it’s cousins liberalsim and socialism has proven to be a complete failure as Redford and her predessor Stelmach have now emptied the coffers of “other people’s money”, also known as the Alberta treasury.
Like other progressive movements, after the money is gone they go to work on the hearts and minds and campaign on claiming to know what’s best for the populus. Sorry Alison, but I’m a free thinker and don’t need a critchedy old librarian type to tell me what I need and don’t you DARE tell me what to think.
Progressives also try to erase history and demonize their forefathers. Witness Redford’s disdain for Ralph Klein, who was instrumental in righting the good ship Alberta as the bumbling fool Getty had us taking on water during his entire reign.
She probably couldn’t stand to be in a room full of people who get their hands dirty for a living and would be more comfortable with the latte drinkers or the eastern Canadian chattering classes who believe in one-world government and the false assumption that the UN is somehow a noble organization.
She gave away the store to the Alberta teachers union and was about to give our resourses away to Dalton McGuinty and Jean Charest in a new, stealth National Energy “Strategy”. I pray there are many Albertans who are also saying, “Not on my watch”.
Let’s hope Redford is like old Harry Strom and the Wild Rose sweeps her into the dustbin of the history of our great province.
Good luck to Danielle and her team!
If you’re in Alberta, call your local WRA office and ask what you can do to help get the vote out. Stop the UN!!
There was an election ad on the tube last night (think PC but anti-WRP at least) at about 11:00ish PM. Just caught the first 12-15 seconds as the channel was being changed and by the time I found the correct channel it was over. Can anyone enlighten me on the cut-off time/date for (tv) ads?
When we wake up tomorrow, remember this, nothing will have changed. We will still have a bunch of politicians, maybe with a different BRANDING, still trying to please their enemies.
Democracy with out leadership is a useless folly.
“nothing will have changed. We will still have a bunch of politicians”
And if you simply roll over and accept this, you will have no one to blame but yourself. Anytime I hear “the politicians are all the same” I get steamed. What a cop out. If this is how you feel than you should be going out of your way to cintinually hold the feet of the politicians to the fire.
Unfortunately the vast majority will roll over and continue to take it. Witness the pathetic percentage of voters actually going out to vote.
Those that stay home whining that nothing will change or their vote doesn’t make a difference I actually hold in far more contempt than I do a corrupt politician.
I was at two advance polling stations in Calgary on Saturday. It was one of the nicest Saturdays in months and people were taking the time to vote. That can’t be a good sign for the PCs.
Show us how it’s done,Albertans.
Boot the “progressives” to a single digit.
This election have huge implications beyond borders of Alberta. If PC will get decimated, the middle of the road politics won’t be seen anymore as a wining option in Ontario or Manitoba, perhaps even in Atlantic provinces.
The advance polls in my area had 4 times the turnout of the last election. I hope that is a good sign for the Wildrose. We will know tonight who gets in but regardless this election has changed Alberta forever.
My hopeful prediction: this is the last day for Alison Red-fraud, the unelected, back room dealing, billion dollar cheque writing, legislatively absent, sanctimonious, sour faced hag. Good riddance!
I have this week off, so i went to polling station in central Edmonton at 0900 and the line was 20 people deep already at doors open, i can’t recall ever seeing that before frankly. I have family that worked the advance polling in southern Alberta and apparently the turnout was
huge.
Our favourite little terrorist, Bridgitte De Pape or whatever the hell her name is staged a little protest for Danielle Smith. It should give the Wildrose a nice boost.
Here’s a pic
I won’t be voting Progressive Conservative. It hasn’t always been that way. On the 18th of June, 1959 my Father ran for the Alberta Progressive Conservative party. I was eleven. He didn’t win but ran a good second. He ran because he felt that the govenment of the day (Social Credit) had been in power to long and needed changing. At that point the SoCreds had been in power since 1935. It took another 12 years for the Tories to replace the SoCreds. By 1971, I had come of age and voted for the PCs, who under Peter Lougheed ousted the Social Credit Government. I was a faithful PC for many years afterward and never failed to support them at the ballot box. No more. This PC government no longer represents my values. I believe the Wildrose Party does and as such will get my vote. If my Dad were alive today he would concur.
Vote out the RED-Fraud Progressives and save Alberta from the socialist UNers!

Just got back from voting in Mountainview. I asked how the turnout had been for the advanced polls and the lady said it was the largest she had ever seen in her years working elections.
Sounds like good news for WR.
Why exactly do the PCs want to change Alberta? Given that change is universal and perpetual, what does that mean?
The point is to manage change, if one can, so that it is in a direction that is beneficial. Change for the sake of change is the most stupid of all possible slogans. “The budget is balanced” – let’s change. “We have nearly full employment” – let’s change. I fear that when the Rat Queen talks about change these are some of the changes she intends. After all she spent years in Africa, making money off of basket-case states.
The Progressives will try to run out the clock today. Only a couple of people I know even got voter cards, I have had the same address for many many years and no voter notice. We voted advance poll, and the line up was out of the building, as they only had one booth set up for a historic election. I had to carry a chair for a very frail senior who kept getting dizzy standing in line. Nobody in my family including inlaws is voting for anybody but Wildrose, that is about 15 voters. Nobody I know who voted PC before is voting for them this time. I expect REDfraud will quote Mark Twain at the end of the day. “The People Have Spoken, The BASTARDS”.
@jim in calgary
Shane McAllister is set to stomp David Swann in mountainview…and thank God. David Swann is an idiot. It’s shocking that guy could be elected and go as far in politics as he has.
He was once on the radio advocating putting Alberta into a 50 year recession on purpose. With the goal of lowering our GDP by 1-2% a year so that in 50 years we’d cut our standard of living in half.
Why should this be a good idea?
To stop Global Warming of course!
He used to be the leader of the official opposition!
Albertans have some strange politics.
Mosty good, but sometimes shockingly, shockingly bad.
Just voted and the polls are very busy here. More so then other years.
Nothing too shocking at the polls, except for some reason my name wasn’t on the list while my wife’s name was. Maybe my past fling with a CPC membership put a scare into the guys at ElectionsAB!
I expect to hear lots of media stories this evening about people being mis-directed, polls running out of ballots, and all sorts of other bungling…but 99% of the complaining will be coming from either morons or wingnuts. That certainly describes the one guy I saw flying off the handle this morning, yelling that he was going to go the media. He wasn’t where he should have been, but “that’s where he’d always voted!” Sounds like a PC voter to me.
Slaw, I’m a resident of Calgary-Glenmore and will be voting Wildrose.
Just got back from voting. Polls were as busy as they normally are in the evening. No prior experience voting this early but the poll workers seemed to have been caught a little off guard.
Interesting that they were asking every person if they wanted a senate ballot.
Went to the polling station this AM(Millwoods). There were over 60 people in line @ 8:45 in the pouring rain. Asked the gal at the door how advance polls went. She said about 1/3 eligible voters had been out.Looks great for WRP!!
My daughter(who is a snivel servant) fears her poor little boss is history(Agr). She figures she will vote PC as the WR is just the old guard from Ralph’s days.Asked her why that was bad.She said they all are ship-jumpers.I just told her to maybe think about WHY they jumped the socialist ship before she votes, and check some facts.WRP “promising” 635 million in expendtitures. She said seeeee!!. Then I told her REDfraud is 1.047 Billion, not counting what she all ready promised/gave to the unions, around 250 mill. She is doing some thinking(fingers X’d,but not hopeful)
I’m nervous for Alberta…. I hope we’re smart enough to throw out these “regressives” and get back to what is important… Freedom and Liberty!
We made the walk and voted already! Go WildRose!
(I had to cancell out the vote of my leftist son-in-law…. a “the world owes me a living” friggin posty….)
Weather out west looks good for getting out to vote. If the turnout is high then I think the WildRose can make a change.
Here in NS all I can do is watch and hope for a massive victory for the WR. It gives hope for all conservative Canadians living in these Socialist mismanaged backward provinces that will never change and have brainwashed the young with Global warming Crap. You go Alberta! Throw the Progs out and be a model for the rest of us!
Eachh year we go backwards and owe more money but the worse we get the more money we get from the Feds who take it from Alberta. Nothing like rewarding bad government and failed policies.
Currently in Nigeria and 7 hours ahead so will be up all night on SDA. If the WR gets a majority it will be worth it and if Redford gets binned it will be more than worth it!!
Here in the Calgary-Klein provincial riding there isn’t a single candidate who has even a clue what Libertarianism means. Spoiled ballots carry a stigma and are ignored by all parties.
But there is hope – Albertans have the option to personally appear/register at their polling station and then officially decline their ballot yet still have it counted. I’d rather that than spoil my ballot by writing in “None of the above”
Spoil my ballot rather than vote “none of the above.” That Paul would be my idiot namesake.
@paul – BS. This is the only election in my lifetime as a voter (federal, provincial or otherwise) where every single person on the political spectrum (from far left to right) has a party to vote for. No excuse for anyone not to mark a ballot. There is never going to be a perfect candidate or party but WR is making a lot of positive noises for liberty lovers. Are they perfect? No, but they are the closest thing libertarians have had in this province for 15 years. Time to put the easy, cool, holier-than-thou cycnicism aside and pick a side.
Go Wildrose!
Off Topic-sorry-
The Russian Stock Market has yet to open today. Many scary thought about why at Zero Hedge.
As Kate would say…It’s probably nothing.
Here in Edson, Legion parking lot packed, cars lining up on street. This bodes well for the Wild. Looking forward to waking up tomorrow to hear we have a real conservative gov. in Ab.
Justthinkin, you are not thinking enough man!
Redford did not promise $1.047billion! The Canadian Taxpayers Federation tallied all the new spending promises back on April 12 and back then it came in as follows:
PC: $3.4 billion
NDP: $1.9 billion
Liberal: $770 million
WildRose: $308 million

james, Brigette de Pape does not look very happy. That’s a good sign. 🙂
