Wildrose Country

Meow….

Bumped for update – the tweet hits the fan.

Then this morning, Ms. Smith released the following statement:

“In the last day the question has been raised about why I don’t have children of my own. When David and I married in 2006 we intended to have children together. After a few years we sought help from the Calgary Regional Fertility Clinic. I appreciated the support and assistance of the caring staff as we went through tests and treatments, but in the end we were not successful.
“I consider myself very fortunate to have a terrific stepson, Jonathan, David’s son from a previous marriage. I am also blessed to have grown up in a large family with four siblings who have given me the opportunity to be the auntie of 5 terrific nieces and nephews: Emily, Sam, Chloe, Seyenna and Logan.
“Family is very important to me and I consider this to be a very personal matter. I will not be commenting on it further.”

As of this morning, Amanda Wilkie no longer has a Twitter account.
You know, I may just be a commercial artist living in the middle of nowhere who, without any ties to media or party politics, built a political blog that draws 5 million visits a year. And as I have only my internal server stats to assess the ability of Twitter to drive traffic….
… when I warn that Twitter is worse than useless as a medium with which to reach a general audience, that the risk-benefit ratio is so high that any politician who permits staff to use Twitter in any capacity beyond issuing pre-approved public service announcements is a fool
…I probably don’t know what the hell it is I’m talking about.

  1. “U.S-style negative attack politics” Oh my! Complete with Canadian-style negative American allusions.

  2. What is poor wittle mandy’s problem.I though Red Cino’s like her would LOVE the fact Danielle has no kids.Or is she just pissed Danielle looks better even in curlers and no make-up than mandy ever will?? What a b&tch.

  3. I just sent this e-mail to Amanda Wilkie’s @gov.ab.ca address:
    Dear Ms. Wilkie,
I’m not a Twitter user but saw your tweet published on several places on the Internet. I’m curious about two things:
Most of your tweets seem to have to do with Alberta and Premier Redford. Therefore, can one assume that it was representative of the Government of Alberta who you work for?
Both former Premier Stelmach and current Premier Redford have warned of the profound danger of this election focusing “on personality and U.S-style negative attack politics”. Your tweet wasn’t possibly representative of what they were referring, was it?
    Most curious,
    Robert W.

  4. Here are some of Amanda Wilkie’s very “telling” past tweets:
March 26: @Premier_Redford“election will be a defining moment where we will decide what we want the future to be and how we want to conduct ourselves”
March 19: @schamuhn @cinnet77 @Princess_Jules I understand why you’re illiterate Dominic, since you’re too clever to need to finish undergrad #idiot
March 16: @cinnet77 no, I’m suggesting when you don’t know what you’re talking about and simply being classless, you shut up.
March 16: @Princess_Jules This silly twit works for a Premier – you never will. I guess that makes you a silly nobody, so stop talking. #limitedcareer
March 8: How effective would any #wrp MLA be working with a #pcaa team, when they’re being so vile and nasty towards govt? #IneffectiveRep
March 7: @ElectDanielle is just the puppet master for @RAndersonMLA telling him what to say since he can’t think for himself #wrp #pcaa #elxnpc
February 23: Racknine Inc. manages #wrp membership information, including all demon dialers and push polls http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/02/22/racknine-inc-fraudulent-election-calls-traced/ #ableg #yyc #yeg #ymm
February 1: @evmenzies I called #wrp ignorant rednecks, not conservatives. Literacy is a great thing. #pcaa
And on & on it goes. Folks, this woman is a directly representative of Alison Redford and of Alberta. What a nasty piece of work and an absolute disgrace.

  5. Screenshot a previous “favorite politician” of Ms. Smith and you will find Barack Obama as her favourite, take a good look, the media stampeded RedEd into “our fair share” “H1N1 etc, don’t let the same media stampede you into a herd of Randy Whites. David, is high up in the media, methinks there has been a free ride so far, doesn’t matter what you say or do when you are a criticizer, does when you hand is on the Johnson Bar, easy pressure.

  6. I love and support women in many ways, but have no desire to go through the process to become one. Does that mean there’s something wrong with me?

  7. @robert vancouver
The pcs are in pure panic mode they are all finding out at the same time that when there teachers told them they were special they lied.
Since you have compiled all those tweets you should forward them to Rick Bell at the Calvary Sun.

  8. Ah yes isn’t the old ‘if/then’ argument fun? How’s about ‘If Alison Redford is Conservative why does she have the Lorne Calvert painful hemorrhoid look on her face’. Well ‘if not painful hemorrhoids then they both must wake up in the morning and suck a bowl full of lemons for breakfast’.

  9. .and we’re still talking about the hubcaps lady?
    Posted by: 49erDweet at March 31, 2012 2:53 AM
Yup. And the only one’s who seemed upset about the hubcaps, where the female CINO’s.Ummmmmmm. Are they PO’d because even with tires as breasts,Danielle still has better looking ones then they do???

  10. If Redfordloves public education so much why does she send her daughter to PRIVATE school? I know I’m not from the left so it’s not a fair question.

  11. Lefties hate kids (pro-abortion), lefties love kids (according to this tweet)…I’m so confused!!!
“progressive” conservative. yup makes perfect schizophrenic sense.

  12. I don’t use Twitter or Linkbook or Myface, or anything, but it seems with Twitter especially, every publicized comment is stupid, wrong, or both.
So my simple question: has anyone ever written anything intelligent, perceptive, or penetrating on Twitter?

  13. They like their children as far away from their “lifestyles” as possible.
Kind of like the distance between their pea brains and their genitalia.
And of course princess can’t be exposed to “the commoners”
(Conservative young men that don’t give them the time of day)
    dwright

  14. Kevinb the only useful thing about twitter is that left wing reveal their true colors on it. There are literally no good insightful “tweets” they don’t exist. I have a twitter account to watch lefty journos carry on their pack journalism throughout the day.

  15. You can expect the PC’s to go massively negative as Wildrose goes up in the polls. They are in panic mode and will be vicious….which will turn more people against them.

  16. Well, I believe Danielle Smith just finalized this girls termination. Statement at wildrose.ca

  17. And in typical fashion, the above account has been deleted.
Why deal with a problem when you can run away screaming?

  18. Well seeing how she was so kind as to self identify herself as a moron who is cheating her employer by doing private activities at work while she is being paid to work, not tweet, she will be very easy to contact with her pink slip email when Wild Rose gets elected.
Maybe she can be the first useless snivel servant to be fired in the big crackdown against cheats and frauds on the public payrolls.

  19. Keep talking and tweeting, PCs. All it does is reinforce my decision not to vote for you.

  20. The conservative part of the “Progressive Conservatives” died when Special ED snuck into power.
Now under the NDP orange banner of Alison Redford the stealth Jihad immigration style takeover is complete.
Be very wary Canada, and learn from this. Liberal Progressives around the western world are infiltrating and organizing public dissentions with race, gender, and other dividing politics the way Saul Alinsky instructed in his Liberal holy book “Rules for Radicals”

  21. LAS, I disagree completely. Her classy retort may very well have been the fatal blow in any remaining chances the APCs had … especially if this story is picked up wide & far.

  22. I loved Danielle’s reply.  It was simple, dignified, sufficiently informative that the MSM won’t be baying for more salacious details, and will probably garner huge amounts of sympathy that can go a long, LONG way in a political campaign.
Couldn’t have turned out better if Amanda Wilkie was some kind of long-term WRA “sleeper” in the PC machine.
As for Ms. Wilkie, I was stunned when I first saw the tweet, simply because it was the kind of remark you expect to see from a rather clueless male, not from a female.  This leads me to believe that Ms. Wilkie is, uhm… oh, what’s the phrase I want?…
…oh yeah.  “Dumber than a bag of nickels.”

  23. These type of comments/tweets/whatever drive me insane. Just like people constantly asking newly married people when they are going to start having kids. It’s none of their business. You don’t know what other people are struggling with, so keep your mouth shut, and your foot won’t enter it. The state of occupancy of Ms. Smith’s uterus should not be of any concern to her political campaign. I applaud her response to this unnecessary comment. I think it speaks volumes about her character.

  24. Kate, I read what you said about twitter and agree.
I comment on you blog because your personality, contributors, and mods that know to “snip” me if I go too far. Not because I’m trying to score “brownie points”, I truly feel that I’m part of a large community of like-minded people.
    yes, you rock.
    dwright

  25. Another Amanda tweet- “March 16: @Princess_Jules This silly twit works for a Premier – you never will. I guess that makes you a silly nobody, so stop talking. #limitedcareer
Premier Alison Redford- “…The young woman who authored the tweet has resigned from her position. From that action I know she understands the gravity of her actions.”
Amanda Wilkie- just another silly nobody…

  26. Danielle just tweeted her acceptance of Redford’s apology.
The damage has been done, and can’t wait to see Smith on throne.

  27. Perhaps the brand deteriation that Alberta PCs are doing will finally get the rest of the provincial PC parties to drop the P. Since “progerssives” have co-opted the term let em have it I say!

  28. In the same vain of stupid tweets, comes the following gem from former Michael Ignatieff speechwriter, Adam Goldenberg:
Question for @ElectDanielle: Why are all of the stock photos on your website of white people? #abvote
Another Liberal, another race-baiter. Little surprise.

  29. Question for @ElectDanielle: Why are all of the stock photos on your website of white people? #abvote
The Reform Party used to have the largest percentage of MPs who were non-white but were constantly accused of racism. Consider the source.

  30. Smith’s statement was indeed well done. But the best part is the last sentence: “I will not be commenting on it further.”
That’s the trap (intentional or otherwise) for the media. From this point forward, ANY “journalist” who brings up the subject is working to an agenda, and is going to be immediately called on it.

  31. Wow I didn’t even think about Danielle Smith as a woman before, much less white for that matter, until the bigoted Liberal race baiters came out on the issue and made me “aware”.
Well I suppose not everyone can be “Obamba’s long lost son” because they happen to have black skin for the Liberal establishment to pee themselves like happy little puppies pleasing master. That would cause race wars and general riots which would never be the mark of a true leader, or a responsible electorate in any productive society.
