It’s promising that the media have such low expectations for the WR in this election. In such cases, they usually get so far behind the popular sentiment that, when they do eventually catch on, they tend to go overboard in pumping up the challenger.
There are still a lot of backwards people in this province who get their opinions spoon-fed to them through the MSM; it’s going to take a big shift in MSM reporting to get these people to leave their 40-year rut.

Premier mom is going down! She bought the PC leadership by bribing the Teachers Union, $120 million buysa lotsa votes. I volunteer for WRA and am waiting for my big old lawn sign (two firsts). Everybody needs to get out and vote this time around.

I heard on Sun News that the WRA haven’t had much success in Edmonton. Everybody needs to their part, but the folks in Edmonton really need to pull out the stops.

I always get three lawn signs. A biggun in the middle then two mediums on the corners of my lot so the lefties to either side of me look like they are supporters too. one is a teacher so take a guess what sign they will put up, different than their traditional one. anyway there is a big old spruce tree that overhangs the lot line so their lefy signs have to go behind the tree. It a cul-de-sac so my signs are always prominent. I was once doing an extension of my house in the old days of Harper running for Reform in my area, I had 12 big signs covering the whole side of the house on the side facing the entry to the street, they are still there for the archeologists to discover under the tyvek.

I’m doing whatever I can to help Wildrose to get a majority.
We’ve got a Get Out the Vote effort going and we’ll see that people know that Wildrose is the alternative to the Leftist Alberta PCs/Libs/NDP.
If Wildrose ends up with a minority government it’ll set people straight to see the surviving Alberta PCs voting with the Leftists in the Legislature and we’ll see a majority next election.
I voted Conservative from 1971 until Stelmach took over from a bored Ralph Klein. You gotta know that, when a dyed-in-the-wool redneck like me can’t hold my nose and vote Conservative anymore, Alberta is overdue for a change!
Wildrose will be the new provincial government. By a landslide.

I am hopeful but I am afraid that, sadly, Albertans will vote Tory no matter what. My own sense was that Albertans did not like Stelmach and would have gladly ridded themselves of him but a lot of people who i thought were on the WR bandwagon have gone back to, ‘let’s give the new woman a chance,’ talk.
I’ll be donating, volunteering and voting for WR but I don’t think they can win. The Edmonton vote is lost and I think a lot of the rural vote will stay Tory. If they can clean up in Calgary it would be awesome but I just don’t know.
Albertans are not as small government or conservative as we are often painted. I mean, we have a Dipper as mayor of Calgary and a Dipper as Premier. It’s not a very right-wing province…
With any luck, BC will join the ranks of AB and SK with conservative governments soon. We just got our first MLA today and will elect at least one other in Chilliwack on April 19th. WA and BCC could really change the West and put the brakes on this incrimental socialism we’ve had for decades now.
Iwas out capmaigning with rob anderson on the weekend we had lunch after and i can tell you there were alot of PC voters that asked for a wild rose sign if you get my drift….will it be enough time will tell but rob was even shocked!!

We had a Wildrose dinner/fund raiser 2 weeks ago Wednesday in my riding and we got 350 volunteers/contributors, just in one riding.
The PCs had a joint dinner about the same time with 3 (THREE) ridings and got 250 voluteers/contributors.
I don’t live in Calgary.
I want to get excited for WR, but are they really that different policy wise?

At least not as much as portrayed. What bothers me is there is never enough money. In a province of high government revenue, they borrow billions simply to pi$$ it away with neither rhyme nor reason.
It would be very interesting to see a split Alberta parliament.
I’m not sure if Albertians could deal with a situation where the PC’s don’t have 60+seats.
I’d love to see a WR minority, say 37 seats, 28 to the PC’s with the libs/NDPS splitting 18. The PC’s would have lost their rule, and I’d think the WR could win over a few PC and even some liberals looking to clean house and get things moving in the right direction.
The biggest problem with the long PC rule is that to fix any problem you must first admit there is a problem. But when you admit there is a problem and you’ve been running things for 2 generations now, there is only one party to blame…

It’s about the carbon tax for me, too, as well as the layer upon layer of increased fees, permits, licenses, and other costs. Plus Christy Clark supported Stephane Dion federally. She and Redford seem quite a bit alike.
I have pretty much always voted conservative. I would love to again – but that pasty faced rat has to go.
If the provincial PC’s want my vote again they can damned well run as conservatives.

One of the things the Alberta PCs did right was create the Heritage Fund.
Norway thought that was such a good idea that they did the same thing 15 years after the Lougheed Alberta PCs did.
Now, we all know that Norway is a fairly socialist nation so they spend much the same way as Canada as a whole does.
Today, Norway’s version of the Heritage Fund stands at about $500 Billion.
Alberta’s older Fund stands at about $12 billion.
Where did the money go, even after all that belt tightening Albertans did during the Ralph Klein regime?
It went into the pockets of the public sector unions and although Stelmach inherited a debt free Alberta with an $8 Billion surplus where the PCs themselves had passed a law against deficit spending, the province is posting deficit budgets and deep in debt again.
The Alberta PCs are all Progressive and zero conservative, not even fiscal conservatives.
I’ve been door knocked in a Liberal riding and the response to Wildrose has been good.
I think they can win 10-15 seats in Calgary and probably 15-20 seats in rural areas.
Edmonton will be a lock out unless they sneak in 1 or 2 because of vote splits.
Wildrose could win a minority with 35 seats, but expecting more than that is unrealistic.
IMHO pounding away at public sector unions is solid strategy for Smith. Nobody likes them (even a good chunk of their members) and nobody believes that Redford will smash them. The public wants big smash. Give them big smash.
Alison Reford’s demeanor starkly reminds me of Nurse Ratched in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”

The are 43 non Calgary Edmonton seats in Alberta.
These are pure Redford, Smith battles since the other parties have never existed there. This is where the power struggle for a majority will take place.
You have to give Ms Smith the advantage in these areas.
Unlike the rest of Canada the rual ridings hold as much power as the city. Like Ralph Klien Ms Smith understands this, which is why she has been working the rual for three years because in Alberta that is the beach head to a majority Government and there is nothing the Cities can do about it.

I agree , most people in here have not been out door knocking, i have and i had several people tell me just as a door knocker that they wouldl ike a WR sign on there lawn and that they used to vote for the PC with out hesitation,but now they have a change of tune , and that was shocking for us , i was with rob anderson and he was pretty excited .
I would be happy with a minority govornment but i think a majority is very possible especially since the wild rose has many policies that the average joe identifies with , they are simple but realistic policies, like repealing the .05 alchohol garbage, cancelling the alta link upgrade (waste of money and not needed) , eliminating the human right’s comission, none zero subsidies for green energy. DE centralizing health care, as well as allowing some private insurance for health care.
there are many more common sence things they are willing to impliment with a majority govornment , personal property right’s , as well as getting rid fo the bad blood in the provincial govornmen. and also shrinking it as well , freezing the pay of mla’s , i mean the ist goes on !!

I live in High River now and Danielle is running in this riding. They have some schmoe Barlow running against her. Allie was busying giving money away here last week but if the Wildrose signs popping up all over my neighbourhood are any indication, she won’t have too much trouble getting this riding.

Yea Alberta needs some maintenance, but we have hardly been a failure with this govt when 60 years ago Sask Ab and Man all had a mill, now this province has almost 4 mill. Alberta, still the best place to be.
