Today David Suzuki launched a form-letter style write-in campaign against my Senate Inquiry into the interference of foreign foundation in Canada’s domestic affairs and their abuse of Canada’s existing Revenue Canada charitable status. Ironically, he even made it possible for foreigners to participate by providing a “Not in Canada” option.

Dear Senator Eaton, Members of the Senate, and Members of Parliament,
As a Canadian who cares deeply about the future of our country, I am extremely disappointed by the recent attempts of some environmental activists to silence and demonize those who don’t share their positions.
Some activists have labelled those who raise concerns about foreign-funded environmental activism as “anti-Climate” and have questioned the integrity of legitimate Canadian businesses like Syncrude, and legitimate Canadian politicians.
I am proud to support Canada’s energy industry, which has a long history of protecting biodiversity, promoting public understanding of economic issues, and providing well-compensated employment to help Canadians enjoy and preserve the natural environment on which we all depend for our health and present and future prosperity.
The Senate is supposed to be a house of sober second thought. As such, we expect more from our senators than uninformed and immature rhetoric that does nothing to further debate about matters of vital national importance.
Like many Canadians, I believe that the issue of huge amounts of foreign funding to environmental activists is a criminal conspiracy and an effort to silence and discredit ordinary Canadians who are simply looking to earn an honest living while maintaining the natural environment as well as can be done.
Never fail to remember than a clean, park-like natural environment is a luxury that can only be afforded by those countries which have an abundance of cheap energy, and the income level afforded by industrial employment. The worst environmental degradation, by far, is found in third-world countries where the rural poor are forced to rape and pillage the forests merely to stay alive.
As a Canadian who looks to the House of Commons and the Senate for leadership, I ask you to get back to the business of rational debate on development issues, rather than allowing foreign-funded pressure groups to stifle the voices of millions of Canadians with whom they do not agree.

discredit Canadian organizations that are looking out for the interests of
Canada and Canadians is appalling.
A democracy functions best when all points of view are considered rationally
and carefully, and when our leaders, both elected and appointed, examine the
facts before speaking. As a Canadian who looks to the House of Commons and
the Senate for leadership, I thank you for getting back to the business of
thoughtful debate unlike organizations such as the Suzuki Foundation that
attempt to demonize the voices of millions of Canadians with whom they do not
agree.
