Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

The left are generally wrong about every major issue into which they blunder — but we are asked to discuss until fully exhausted any alleged error in syntax of a conservative commentator.
Maybe we should just use laughter more, but then the poor things get offended and lawyer up.
Maybe the problem is that sluts are often communists. If they had basic business acumen they would charge enough to at least cover costs.
marco, they charge by the inch, and if they only accomodate lefties, they just go broke!!!!
Gah! Hot coffee burns!
Well hang on here. If the US taxpayers are going to shell out $3000 per year for each freeloading leftist woman, should the taxpayers not have the right to demand the most effective solution, a hysterectomy, be employed. Pros, no possibility of pregnancy and no children born to the leftist feminists ever. Con, they’ll have to put up with more shrill, dried-up harpies decades from now.
This whole thing is silly. Since the lefties are demanding that others pay for devices to protect their health while they partake in recreational sex, does this not mean that a skateboarders helmet and kneepads should be furnished by the taxpayers as well? Or hockey equipment, I hear that goalie pads cost thousands.
Yeah, correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t the Pill cost the same no matter how often you have sex? I mean it’s a one-a-day prescription, isn’t it?
Twits.
The pill doesn’t prevent transmission of STD’s.
Even a 20 dollar Hastings Street special knows to employ condoms.
You break your tools? You can’t make a living.
Who’s the dimwit?
bib: “The more sex you have, the more pills you have to take. Slutty sluts end up taking lots and lots of birth control pills.”
Well, that’s what Fluke seems to think. She said her birth control costs amounted to $3,000 a year.
Does she need more birth control pills than most? Because a year’s subscription of The Pill is nowhere near $3,000. (Is she selling them on the side?)
Knowledge beyond mommie’s basement is brought to the table. Try leaving it sometime to expand beyong your ignorance. You’ll need a 100SPF though and welders goggles.
There’s a whole world out there. Good and bad.
Ask mom to hold your allowance. You going to Hastings Street with money might not work out so well for you.
Your welcome. We adults have to be mindful of the children.
A quick extrapolation of the price of a condom and including the price of a monthly box of the pill, it would appear that Rush is onto something. Thjs lady must be reamed out like the Holland tunnel if she actually uses this much disposable equipment.
You mean like Bill Mar and Letterman.
Get over yourself, bib.
I’m a woman. I have two daughters. The damned birth control industry has brought some short-term relief to women (no baby this month/year) and nothing but misery to far too many: cancers caused by a surfeit of estrogen and STDs such as genital herpes, human papilloma virus, HPV, HIV/AIDS, just to name a few of the over 50 se*ually transmitted viruses which are mutating all the time and are unable to be cured but can only be managed. Many STDs being contracted by se*ually active women are causing sterility as well.
So, what’s your point: Obama’s the savior of women because he promotes contraception in its many manifestations? I’ll tell you who he’s helping: Big Pharma, which is literally making a killing on contraceptives and the medications needed once se*ually active women contract an STD or a variety of STDs, which they’re stuck with for life, or end up with cancer.
Do your homework and WAKE UP.
And, BTW, in case you’re not aware of it, there is no women’s vote, just like there is no men’s vote. Women’s opinions — and knowledge — is as varied as men’s. How stupid and condescending to assume that “all women” vote the same and that “the women’s vote” is going to elect Barak Hussein Obama. Smarten up.
Banned in Boston. Many of the women at my wife’s plant WERE Bammy boosters. They are worse off than 4 years ago.
Bammy lost those union women.
Amen
As usual, Mark Steyn says it well:
http://www.ocregister.com/opinion/fluke-343935-sex-right.html
Personally I think if Obama is planning on running his whole campaign on birth control he will lose. If you think this is a winner well we’ll see I guess. I’m not sure the people suffering in this horrible economy are all that tuned up for free birth control for college kids.
” … just another brick in the wall.”
‘Just wondering what kind of brick and what kind of wall?
bib,If you or she thinks that pills protect the user from STD’s,sexually transmitted diseases( I translated that just for you) then I expect that I will see you or her on the next edition of Jackass.
bib – A few points. First, please don’t move into personal insults (knuckle draggers). Stick to the issues.
Could you provide evidence that the students alone provide medical insurance coverage, ie, that the university contributes nothing?
IF Fluke’s medical insurance policy is funded by the students of that university ALONE – which I doubt, for the numbers of students alone would not cover all health care costs of all students – then I ask: Why should all students have to fund the contraceptive use of some students? Is an insurance policy the correct use of the costs of a lifestyle choice?
That would be like all students having to pay for the expensive food tastes of some students.
By the way, she is 30 and a hard core feminist political activist. There is no way that contraceptives of any kind cost $1,000 a year. But, they might cost anywhere from $5 or $9 or $15.00 a month, which is far below Ms Fluke’s claim of over $80.00 a month.
Then, I think one should consider batb’s excellent outline of the results of the use of, in particular, the pill – and STDs etc.
Finally, there is the issue of whether an insurance policy is the correct source for paying for your contraceptive requirements. IF, let’s say, the student is paying $50.00 a month for medical insurance, and contraception takes half of that (at most), that leaves only half for the really serious medical requirements of treatment for medical risk events – physical injuries, serious medical health issues. That doesn’t seem to be a productive use of medical insurance.
I dont agree with Rush that Miss Fluke is a slut. She is a TERRORIST.She was sponsered to go to that university to break that Catholic’s anti birth control policy and to take on the church’s anti abortion stand because the morning after pill IS an abortion pill and the next step is funded abortions because THAT pill is the test.
Thanks, batb and ET.
“Almost every matter of the moment boils down to the same story: the Left’s urge to narrow the bounds of public discourse and insist that ‘conventional wisdom’ unknown to the world the day before yesterday is now as unquestionable as the Laws of Physics. Nothing that Rush said is as weird or as degrading as what Sandra Fluke and the Obama administration are demanding. And any freeborn citizen should reserve the right to point that out as loudly and as often as possible.” Mark Steyn
a society in which middle-age children of privilege testify before the most powerful figures in the land to demand state-enforced funding for their sex lives at a time when their government owes more money than anyone has ever owed in the history of the planet is quite simply nuts.
Average starting salary of a law grad from the 30 year old students opposite of diversity is $160,000.
To start.
“Everything they hoped to accomplish this week, they’ve not accomplished. They might have 25 years ago, but they haven’t. They, on the left, are now being forced by an army of people on the right to comport themselves to the same standards that they are demanding of others, and that’s going to put a real crimp in their style. Remember, when I apologized I said one aspect of what I had done wrong was I descended to their level. And I meant to emphasize that. I descended to their level. That’s what was, among other things, wrong about it. But it was a one-time thing for me. They live there. Now they’ve been called on it.”
Rush Limbaugh
“All they ended up doing was calling attention to their own constant misogyny. All they ended up doing was focusing the attention on all of their people on the left who are constantly and every day in the gutter. They’re not there by accident or by mistake, like I was for five minutes. They live there, and that’s what’s been made plain this week. That has been what has been made clear. I also had — I didn’t get to it yesterday, but you may have seen this by now — a video. Jan Schakowsky of Illinois and Sheila Jackson Lee were caught by somebody. It might have been Breitbart people, I forget who it was, with camera and microphone — and they would not condemn any of the language from any of their favorite people on the left. No, no, totally different! Oh, you mean so it’s okay for Sarah Palin to be called the C-word as long as the guy calling her the C-word is pro-choice, essentially? Their hypocrisy has been illustrated triumphantly and in great klieg lights and is on display every week. I apologized for behaving like a Democrat. They can’t apologize for that, because they are. They’re there every day. I apologized for behaving like a liberal. They live there.”
Rush Limbaugh
Um, if she is indeed some flavor of graduate student, she can get a federal loan of up to $25,000 per year to use on tuition + books + whatever. And she doesn’t have to start paying it back while she’s in school at least half time.
What, you mean she’s not making adequate progress toward a degree?
Did in fact Sandra Fluke prostitute herself out for the so called cause she claims to represent: or did she do it for future considerations in the advancing of her career which also would most likely include self flagellation of her narcisistic personality?
The whole encounter was a set-up from the get and no one should view this as anything more than guerilla tactics of the Left.
Rush screwed up in that he miscounted his conservative base in thinking they would back his expletives…not so Rush…these tactics aren’t part of the Conservative DNA.
And that’s the REAL problem.
Conservatives keep walking into a gun fight with a knife and then wonder why its not working.
The Left are driven by their need to control and want exclusive rights to the population’s soul as well as their mind and body.
This is shaping up to be a war…winner calls the shots…Loser into the camps.
It’s been said best by others.
The US is going broke, and the speedometer keeps going higher, but, the left demands more and more gubmint spending.
Meanwhile the MSM continues its deflection campaign, of red herring issues (birth control), the false premise of AGW, “spring ahead” is hazardous to your health, and the endless nauseous expose of Hollyweird ‘celebrities’.
MSM, in the bag for Bammer (witness Soledad’s stammering breakdown the other day) They are completely shameless.
marco, they charge by the inch, and if they only accomodate lefties, they just go broke!!!!

Thanks for the coffee spray on the monitor. I’m still laughing. Blindsided me it did!!
That much birth control medication requires allowance for BACK medication as well.
30 years old, is not as pliable as 20.
Just doing my public a service…
“Political Slut” who works in close proximity to
top “Democrat Party vote whores” should be ok.
.
“Where in the world would Rush Limbaugh have gotten the offensive idea that he could go on the radio and call a woman with whom he had a political disagreement a slut? Perhaps he got it from MSNBC’s Ed Schultz, who on his syndicated radio show last year used the same epithet twice to describe conservative talk show host Laura Ingraham.
Schultz apologized, took a powder for a week, then went right on yapping on MSNBC. Ingraham, unlike Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke, did not receive a comforting phone call from President Obama.
Or Limbaugh might have drawn his inspiration from HBO’s “Real Time” host Bill Maher. Last year on his cable show, Maher referred to Sarah Palin as a “dumb … ” — well, actually, I can’t print what Maher said. Suffice it to say that it’s a four-letter word that refers to a part of the female anatomy…”

“provides the same benefits as similar plans at state colleges.”
She could have chosen to attend a state university, instead, this middle aged school girl decided to attend one which is governed by some religious principals. You may be too obtuse to see the difference, but that is their right. You have no right to take it away in the name of obozo.
I am not religious, but I am amazed at progressives who cheer on the growth of leviathan government and the subsequent restriction of liberty. They blissfully think it will always be about screaming at conservatives – rather than wondering about the future in which a government of a different stripe uses this newly appropriated authority to affect their rights.
She is probably not a slut, though, just silly and starved for attention. Or, like so many of my fellow law school attendees I remember, eager to begin climbing that careerist greased pole and needs a little political juice to do it.
Wow. That post was killed fast.”
Yup.You showed up. And obviouslt did not take anything ET said to heart. If you had,you would have given her some answers, with links.
Remember, you said ” that her university health coverage which she, not the government, pays for, provides the same benefits as similar plans at state colleges.
Posted by: Banned in Boston at March 10, 2012 1:29 PM ” , ergo (hope that word’s not to big for ya),the onus is on YOU to PROVE your statement with FACTS, not vice versa.(I know. All foreign concepts to you).
Okay, if she isn’t a slut, then what would you call some one testifying that getting a law degree depended on being able to engage in sexual congress with multiple partners, a community organizer?
Psst…..
As a recent recruit to the legions of seniors, I can distinctly remember the watchword of the ’60’s……
“Don’t trust anyone over thirty.”
It took 50 years for that (/sarc) wisdom (\sarc) to be verified and contradicted by the same elements/individuals.
I wonder if Sandra Fluke supports “slut walk”?
Hey, Sandra! Fluke you — and don’t ask me to pay for it!

“Here’s what a smart person has to say about this:
Did read the whole thing and unable to find the smart person you referred to. Just the same idiotic babble from the lefty fruits.
Limbaugh never should have called Fluke a prostitute. That’s defamation.
Prostitutes work for a living.
bib – do you really think that you are behaving ethically and intelligently, when you refuse to stop insulting people, using as your only excuse that ‘others insult people, so I will do the same’. Is that ‘adult’ behaviour?
Now, how about answering some of my questions and concerns.
Is it really the case, as you have said, that the only source of money for the Student Insurance Plan at Georgetown comes from the students? Does the university contribute nothing?
Do state university medical insurance plans cover the cost of contraception? The university medical services will write out a prescription, but, does the insurance pay for it?
To my knowledge, medical insurance plans are meant to cover risk, ie, accident and sickness. They are not set up, financially, to cover CHOICE. Birth control is a choice. Most universities provide free condoms.
Could you, bib, also comment on whether you think it economically feasible for a student insurance plan to cover the cost of a choice – that is, birth control.
There’s no such thing as ‘free goods’. That’s living in a fictional world. Some workers have to mix up those chemicals, churn out the packages, drive the delivery trucks – they have to be paid, even if you think they should provide those goods for free!
For example, Penn State U charges 1,593 for annual insurance. You, the student, pay this. [Remember, in Canada, we the taxpayer pay for it; it’s not free].
That’s 132.75 a month. Birth control prescriptions are covered at 100% for the first $200.00 and then, 80% up to a $500 maximum for the year. That’s more than any birth control cost. Remember, you the student are paying for it.
Now, shouldn’t health care insurance be confined to risk, ie, genuine non-choice illness and accident? That’s what you are paying into the Collective Pool for – not for your body-care choices – such as birth control, toothpaste and soap.
Of course you can set up a health care plan to cover these choices as well – but, you, and others, will have to pay for it. Nothing, remember, can be free.
So- how about answering my questions?
Like I said this is shaping up to be like our last election. The left will focus on things and comfort themselves with issues that people don’t care about. Notice how Romney didn’t get dragged down into this garbage and instead stayed on message? That’s why he will win. They’ll keep trying with these kinds of “issues” that most people don’t care about at all and Romney will hammer home his message of turning the country around.
The Democrats are turning this into a political issue. Someone calling themselves ‘The Women of the 99%’ are making illegal robocalls:
“The automated calls are illegal because they do not state who they are from (there is no known group called The Women of the 99 Percent) or provide a callback number, as required under the US Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991.” [Daily Mail].
“A call left on the answering machine of Paula Bolyard of Doylestown, Ohio yesterday stated: “Hello, this is a message from Women of the 99 percent. Congressman Jim Renacci is condoning the war on women led by Rush Limbaugh, who has become the de facto leader of the Republican party.
“Call Congressman Renacci at 330-489-4414 and ask him why he remains silent while Republican spokesman Rush Limbaugh insults, degrades, and verbally abuses women. Tell Congressman Renacci that it’s just plain shameful that he allows Rush Limbaugh’s behaviour to continue. We are the Women of the 99 percent and we won’t be silent anymore.”
There are similar calls elsewhere. But, is it the case, that unless you publicly denounce Rush that you are active in or condoning a ‘war on women’? Oh, and where were these Democrats and their agner at a ‘war on women’ when Maher, Schultz, and etc…were insulting Laura Ingrahm, Sarah Palin, Michlle Malkin etc?
@ He won’t run his whole campaign on it. This is just another brick in the wall.
Posted by: Banned in Boston at March 10, 2012 10:55 AM
When the past becomes the present. The leftist mental process was made clear more than 2 decades ago. Just another brick in the wall.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YR5ApYxkU-U&feature=related
“I was just informed that using the word “slut” to describe a girl who uses so much birth control that she went broke is frowned upon.”
Me too. Just last week I was informed of this by EBD.
Great to have you back Kate.
BIB, like all leftists, cannot read and assimilate what’s actually written. Steyn didn’t say she was asking for gov’t money. Steyn said she was asking the gov’t to mandate somebody else pay for her $3000/yr birth control.
A gallery of the left loving conservative women:
http://dailycaller.com/2012/03/05/the-lefts-respect-for-women-a-look-back/
Maybe someone should supply Obama with a phone list.
I love watching ET take the new troll to school.
Dear Banned in Trollston, I also love the way you are (dare I say?) skirting the actual issue here. Sandra Fluke deliberately chose a -Catholic- university to pull this crap on. They don’t cover contraception because its a Catholic school. They call this “freedom of religion” in case you hadn’t heard the term before.
Regardless of that, the amount of money Fluke testified to is $3K over three years, so what kind of person burns through a thousand bucks worth of contraceptives in a year? The kind who have sex three times a day every day or twenty times on the weekend, every weekend. Slut is the least of that, I’d say.
Or she perjured herself in front of the Senate, also a possibility. Then she’s not a slut, just a perjurious liar and DemocRat apparatchik.
I look forward to seeing you at a Tea Party affair sometime soon. I’ll be the one laughing in your face because your man Barry got beat like a three dollar ho.
bib
U just don’t understand wot socialism is all about, now do U
Fluke, has the rite to freedom of speech, testifing before congress is not freedom of speech, it is political manuvering, and a waste of governce time, thus tax payers money, trty grasping that. With all the problems facing the USA, why the h3ll are these people p!ssing around on a non-issue?
spending $3K/year on birth control only tells me that she is the university bicycle, everyone gets a ride. the mere documented fact that she chose to go to this university because it was Catholic to prove a point tells me everything I need to know. This 30 year old slut is giving sluts a bad name. Apologies to batb for the bad language.
bib – I’m not trying to be witty; I’m involved in an argument, ie, a discussion about issues. So- what does brevity have to do with it?
And don’t move into red herrings, in this case, ad hominem, in your attempt to denigrate my argument. Stick to the issues and deal with them.
Now, the fact that your insurance plan covers Viagra is irrelevant, for this is a medical condition and not a matter of choice. Therefore, what’s your point?
Equally, those ‘massages’ (or chiropractor treatment or acupuncture) would be strictly therapeutic, given by a registered physiotherapy facility – and, equally, with a fiscal cap on how much you could spend per year. So, don’t try slithering into yet another false argument.
And, most insurance plans will cover birth control prescriptions (but not condoms)under the term of ‘prescription’. In the example of Penn State, you are allowed up to $500 worth of prescriptions a year – and what these include is up to you, whether it’s for your asthma, diabetes, pneumonia or..birth control.
Now, how about dealing with some facts. Steyn didn’t say that Fluke wanted the govt (taxpayer) to pay; he said: ‘state-enforced funding’. Kindly THINK about the difference, and THINK about what it means to have the State make a private company and a religious institution act in any way that is against their principles.
Oh, speaking of ‘fair’ – are you going to challenge and chastize those people who have made derogatory insults against Palin, Michelle Malkin, Laura Ingrahm, Condi Rice, etc? Hmmm? Remember, you’re the one talking about ‘fairness’. Are you going to say even one small word?
And you are back, wallowing in insults – with your assertion of my being associated with ‘misogynists’, liars, and ‘double standards’. Heh.
YOU are the one with double standards, bib. It doesn’t bother you – all those derogatory insults against Palin, Malkin, Rice etc!
Misogyny? What and Who? How is my critique of your argument, and of Ms Fluke’s demands, an act of misogyny? Don’t trip off the cliff and move into personal insults. These insults are not an argument. They are just fallacies. Stick to the issues.
Ms Fluke’s claim of the cost of birth control as $1,000 a year is utterly invalid. Do you have any comment?
And, why should an insurance policy cover it? You don’t explain this. Remember, nothing is or should be, free. It can’t be free; someone made it, packaged it, shipped it – these workers have to be paid.
So, tell me.. Why do you advocate a situation where SOME people want the collective to pay for the goods they CHOOSE to use (these are not for accident or sickness requirements)? Well?
Why not keep your insurance premiums low, to pay only for accident and sickness, and pay for the goods you CHOOSE, on your own? Can you answer this, bib?
And, as for your argument that ‘all Ms Fluke wants is for this Catholic university to be like state universities’ – that’s quite an outrageous demand. The definition of this university, its very nature, is tied to its religious identity. For one individual to demand that it drop this identity – is an act of extreme arrogance.
Ugly, hateful fascism? I do get fed up with the ever-ready reaction of so many on the left, when they are losing an argument, to resort to name-calling. One of their favourite insults is: fascist! [Which shows they haven’t a clue what that term means.].
Nope, bibs, my critique of you and Ms Fluke has nothing fascist about it (collectivist eugenic nationalism). It’s straight out of reason, logic and empirical evidence. I suggest you stop with the insults and stick to the issues. Use some reasoning, some logic, and some facts. Try it.
