1. Here is some irony. The bulk of members at my gun range are current or retired CAW folks. They all religiously hate their union leadership and we worked hard to elect the 3 Conservative MP’s who represent our area. Many members own Norincos including me.

3. Phil, the money that went to GM and Chrysler will be ‘paid’ back at the rate of fifty cents on a dollar, if the taxpayers are lucky. Let’s do some math here using the figures in the Globe&Mail. Note that the article does not mention how much interest the taxpayer is paying on the money we borrowed to lend to the automakers.
   Total loans $13,300,000,000 divide by 52,000 jobs ‘saved’ equals $255,769,000 per job saved. Assuming a 50% repayment the number drops to $127,884,000/job. Does the average CAW member contribute $127 million dollars of wealth to the economy in his lifetime? Don’t think so.
   As for myself, I will never buy a CAW/UAW built product – when you discover parasites you don’t feed them more, you starve them. My ’86 BMW 535i is a better car than the ’04 Chevy Malibu and ’07 Ford Fusion I have rented for work related trips despite having been designed in 1981! Toyota builds exceptional pickups, in Tennessee I believe, that hold their own with the F150.
   To give you an example of GMC stupidity, my neighbour has a 2002 Sierra 1/2 ton. It would not start one day, I discovered there was no fuel pressure and we could not hear the pump. So voltmeter in hand we went looking for an electrical fault. Turns out that GMC decided that instead of a fuse that costs $2.49 and takes two minutes to replace they were going to use a fusible link, a piece of smaller gauge wire soldered in the middle of the wiring harness somewhere under the truck, the wiring harness securely wrapped and covered with undercoating. Replacing the fuel pump was three hours shop labour, finding and replacing the fusible link was four hours at $75/hour. The mechanic told him this is a common problem.
   By comparison every BMW or Japanese car I have ever worked on has fuses or fusible links that are readily accessible under the hood and a small panel in the trunk above the fuel pump so the tank remains in situ when the pump needs replacement.

7. CAT offered a 50% pay cut to unskilled workers, and a 16% to 17% pay cut to skilled workers, while everyone retained their generous benefits.
   The CAW gave them a 100% pay cut with no benefits.

    them to advantage the detested Quebec, ethanol not because of the ag subsidy aspect, but because of the detested GWA (a case of even a broken clock being correct on occasion)
    But in the case of marketing board products, the consumer/taxpayer has a choice in whether to pay that subsidy.
    The taxpayer has no choice whatever to subsidize the welfare bum farmers like kulak and bartinsky etc., and for that hypocritical obscenity SDA has shown nothing but hypocritical support.

25. Union big talk at Caterpillar how they are going to get a big severance package. No, the idiots are going to do the same fine job they did on contract negotiations. People who are bargaining for severance packages should be physically disciplined by their members. Instead they blame Cat for having to compete. They should have just let GM and Chrysler go Ts up. The Auto Workers would be begging for jobs at any price.

26. There was not just one loan made to Chrysler. There was an initial one of $1.7 billion that was given to Chrysler then they changed the company format and that loan will never be paid back as all additional loans were made to the new entity.
    Here is the contract for the Caterpillar plant in London that was refused by the CAW leadership. I don’t believe the members even saw this proposed contract.

28. I wrote a letter to the CAW a few years ago to tell them that I, as a responsible gun owner, will never again buy a car made by any of the workers from their corrupt union. They never replied. I guess they are so certain they can keep on supporting unethical gun control measures aimed at citizens instead of criminals that it won’t hurt them. I beg to differ.
    Besides foreign cars are a lot better than the $hit they manufacture.
