“My name is Paige Kezima…“
“The Voice of Students” is comprised of intelligent and eager students committed to advocating for the needs and wants of our students. Our platform is as follows:
– Lobby for a tuition freeze
– Increase funding to student groups and societies
– Review the locker tax
– Make more money available to student groups and societies
“My name is Paige Kezima… “
Consider yourself “juxtaposed”.
h/t M. Couros

Of course she’s a social work student, sheesh.
what an entitled little twit.
99% of older readers say, thank God we couldn’t tweet in the 1970s (60s, 80s) … I shall no doubt reveal my old-fogeyness here, but why must everyone under thirty be constantly broadcasting updates of their banal lives to the uncaring world on a half-hourly time scale?
World to tweeters — there is a 99.9999996% chance that nobody cares about your tweet. So keep it to yourself.
I love the Rainbow and Unicorn in the background. One is an optical illusion, the other doesn’t exist. Make what you will of that.
So if you’ve got money to get drunk at a bar, why exactly should I fork out more?
I saw her on Evan’s show a few days ago, she must be related to our senate twit.
#terminally_stupid
I remember when I was a student, drinking in a bar was an inconceivable luxury. I went in a bar once – to steal the toilet paper for my ‘home’. Two guys in my class had cars, old beaters, only because they were mechanically inclined and could keep them running. I guess cars and bars are basic student necessities/entitlements now.
From child to graduate in social work to senior citizen, Paige will be firmly attached to the taxpayers’ teat.
Literally millions of dollars will be transferred from wealth producers to Paige Kezima during her lifetime … yet you can bet she will never stop complaining that life is so darned unfair.
Because, you know, students have never been known to get drunk.
I used to eat pizza out of garbage bins when I was a starving student, and yet I still managed to find beer money on occasion. And yes, I receive not only student loans, but grants. And now, I pay a poopload in taxes, so guess what? It was a good investment by the government, EVEN if I blew some of my dough on beer.
Relax and remember, you’re a bunch of rightwing freakazoids, so whatever it is you’re mad at, is probably something you are over reacting too.
It’s not the getting drunk bit you dolt. It’s the incessant pissing and moaning for more money to meet her wants/needs while getting drunk. Got it?
John,
So you did take loans and clearly got an education, good for you. I did the same.
Students today can do the same thing as you and I did. Or do what a number of my friends did, and one family member, take a year off and work at some job and save your money to pay for school. Or take a job while at school, or dont they do that anymore. I worked while at University part time as a bank teller. Or is that too demeaning today?
Yes education is a great investment. But your missing the point if you see someone saying that the subsidies must get ever larger for them while the student is apparently not making a sacrifice or exhausting all reasonable alternatives.
As for the societal benefit…well heck why doesnt the government say that all iPads sold in Canada must be bought from me. I would make tons of money and pay lots of taxes, ignore the personal benefit to me its immaterial.
Surprised this has to be explained to you. You sure you went to university?
John >
“I used to eat pizza out of garbage bins when I was a starving student, and yet I still managed to find beer money on occasion.”
LOL – and obviously unbeknown to you some starving people actually not only put their found beer money into real food, they later in life pay even bigger “pooploads” of money to the government to help support those not intelligent enough to feed themselves properly.
Do they realize that they listed funding to student societies twice in their platform?
Do they also realize that Quebec’s participation rate in University is 2nd lowest in Canada despite having the lowest tuition fees in the country?
http://www4.hrsdc.gc.ca/.3ndic.1t.4r@-eng.jsp?iid=56
Perhaps they should be made to understand that all they have to do is graduate and stay in the province and they get refunded up to $20,000 of their tuition over 7 years (more if they are nurses or doctors).
Perhaps all of these self-described “intelligent” students should learn about the world before they try to change it.
I am with Peter O’Donnell on this. I really do not “get” Twitter or Facebook. Practically no one’s life is that important or interesting that anyone needs random updates or to hear their uninteresting thoughts. There is a lot of mindless narcissism out there.
Money to get drunk is one thing, she’s a student and has the money to operate a car…
Can’t afford tuition though!
Simple. Raise the drinking age to 25.And add to the criteria at least 3 FULL TIME working years before you can be accepted to collage/unihillbilly artsy fartsy courses.
Naw.Wouldn’t work.Leftards like John and this twit would fight some way to fudge the system with the help of their comrade brethern.
Best. Juxtaposition. Ever.
Ouch.
Just because someone has been lucky (or smart) enough to own a car and feed themselves well, does not mean they are not worthy of loans and subsidies especially when they’re working towards helping all students on campus. If you had to eat out of the garbage and couldn’t afford to drink occasionally in a social environment, clearly means you SUCK at money management. The girl you are criticizing does more work in a week trying to make school a better place to be, than you probably do in a year. She is entitled to a personal life outside of work, and if you have nothing better to do than make jokes about her, get a part time job and stop whining about how unfair your life is. Or better yet, why don’t you volunteer and help with the workload if you are so unhappy with the way things are. Get a life, and quit judging those who actually give a shit enough to try, regardless of how they spend their off time. The funds being requested aren’t going into her pocket alone, they are for a better learning environment.
BURN!
I regret the upcoming increase in retirement age, while at the same time I strongly support it. I also strongly support tuition increases at publicly funded universities. The taxpayer is just not getting value for his or her money from these universities. The worst part about the
self-righteous Paige nitwit is that she probably is an environmentalist and wishes to put many of us out of work.
You all missed the point here. I know she wants something for nothing but she’s in social work. Do you really want her to be looking after our grand kids.
If being concerned about the environment makes you a nitwit, I am sure you will all be laughing when your children’s children can’t breathe the air or drink the water. There are plenty of jobs that don’t involve ruining the world around us.
a@c, no I do not want her looking after my grandkids as she will try to fill them with Marxist crap.
So you’re suggesting that since she is endeavouring to help other students she isn’t allowed to enjoy a night out on the town? I’m sure you crusty, old, phogeys walked ten miles through the snow to class, and never drank during your school years, but maybe you’re generalizing a bit?
We taking bets on “samantha” being Paige’s sock puppet or LUG girlfriend?
samantha t: I farm and will leave my land better than I got it. I also will help those around me who want to help themselves. I’m getting tired of kids who think that they can go to universities on someone else dime and bitch because they have to work for it.
Stop it Samantha! You’re making me hot.
Environment, you mean that garbage that Al Gore has been flogging to make himself a multimillionaire. I would hazard a guess that the vast majority of commenters on this site have done more to improve our environment in practical ways than all the Neo-Luddite fuzzy unicorns hanging on to the fruit fly doctor’s shirt tales.
Furthermore, many here have done many different things voluntarily for their communities for decades and do not any lectures from green behind the ears students.
NDP supporter says it all.
You cynical folks.
Critique for tweeting too much about irrelevance and than make a deal out of her tweets. Hypocritical? Yes.
She has money to have fun every once in a while – shame on her.
She mobilizes 300 students in Regina on relevant issues. What a lazy “twit”.
Make chauvinistic comments referencing she’s a lesbian. Real tolerant.
It is a shame some of you never learned basics of debate and logic.
It is a shame you’ll chastise this comment. Or accuse me of being one of her “sock puppets”. Or share a self-serving anecdote telling us how you’ve got it harder. Or are tired of this.
I ask some sanity enter the conversation of student politics and we all act like adults who don’t tattle-tale on those they disagree with.
Paige Kezima is a student leader. She is 21 years old. She is intelligent, and happens to have some fun. Like most people these days, she documents it on the internet.
Not a big deal. So deal with it.
“The funds being requested aren’t going into her pocket alone, they are for a better learning environment.”
A better learning environment? WTF is exactly wrong with the current environment? No textbooks? No heat? No lights? WiFi deadzones? Crappy cafeteria food? Not enough recognition of the special snowflakes you all are?
WHAT?
david: Please go back and read her tweets. Is that the thoughts of a leader?
Samantha @ 7:58;
Haven’t you been paying attention? Our children’s children are going to have plenty of glacier fresh drinking water. As for the air, “now CO2 free” has a nice ring to it, eh? Those little rascals will be running around with pure oxygen filtering through their lungs…
I hope I’m alive to witness a high school track meet in the oxygen-enhanced future, it should resemble our present day Olympics. Of course, all those olympic caliber athletes will surely get a full scholarship to their University of choice to major in “world fixin”. Voila, problem(s) solved.
Resume crying wolf at your leisure.
a@c — Good for you. I also come from a farming family that has worked hard to preserve our land. And as the child of a farm family, I am more than happy to have someone like Miss Kezima speaking up to help those who are having a hard time helping themselves, despite our efforts.
Daniel – LUG girlfriend – Way to be, not only do you have your head up your butt, but you clearly have no respect for the gay and lesbian community (which I have never been a part of, but I feel terrible for because of jerks like you.) And I am no one’s sock puppet, I just hate people that think they should rip on someone because of their choice of political party, or for doing a GOOD JOB!!!!! AND for working while in school (FOR the school), meaning that most of those students will end up contributing even more money into the school system, because they have to stay an extra year or two to make up for it. If you don’t like how things are being run, do something a little more appropriate than internet bashing.
Ken – If you think that our government is not raping our country of its resources and polluting our earth, you are an idiot. Plain and simple. Just look at a global map of pollution and waste. I bet your house drains more power in a month than a whole village outside of Canada does, and you probably throw away more food than they get the chance to eat too. But that is besides the point.
WAY TO GO DAVID! *applause*
I love the time difference between twits! 19 hours????? Yer car’s STILL at the bar?
It’s probably too obvious to mention, but those “improving the learning environment” are always doing it from some variety of leftest perspective. I suspect it’s because others are just getting it done and moving on – they view university as a passage to something else.
Kezima, on the other hand, is getting her lefty ticket punched as a student activist. This is her proving ground for a lifetime of screaming about alleged unfairness. (I sometimes imagine them rehearsing in front of a mirror, perfecting the facial expression and vocal tone necessary for outrage.)
A student leader? Yeah, but only if you’re a follower.
David >
“Not a big deal. So deal with it.”
It’s being dealt with. Real Adults are waking up to the ignored problem of the entitled youth of our nations and finally getting sick of supporting other people’s spoilt brats.
The money will dry up eventually; you’re not helping anyone prepare for a future of independence. If you really selflessly cared, you would do your best to insure young people have the proper tools for the future, a sense of real independence and responsibility.
Maybe someone with the benefit of a university education can explain the difference between Increase funding to student groups and societies and Make more money available to student groups and societies. They both sound like “We’re special and you owe us for being so darned special” but maybe there’s some nuance I’m missing.
I disagree with much of her platform. She jo be easier for he at my(our)expense.
I do agree with social work,as in someone has to look after the children of the incompetent.
As the entitlement generation procreates, someone has to look after the children of those who do not understand the concept of personal responsibility. I think that social work is a growth industry.
“because they have to stay an extra year or two to make up for it.”
Bingo!
” She jo be easier for he ”
Once I figure out what that was supposed to be,I’ll tweet ya all.
@samantha1 and David:
Please find a couple of spoons and scrape the sand out of your vaginas.
samanth t: I could almost feel sorry for you. Please take a look around at this country. The oil sands is the cleanest oil porducing area in the world, and if you don’t see this please take the time to go look at it. Canada is cleaner to day than it has ever has been. Please take the time to look into this and learn what it is really like.
“It’s not the getting drunk bit you dolt. It’s the incessant pissing and moaning for more money to meet her wants/needs while getting drunk. Got it?”
Next thing you know everyone will be moaning and groaning that all the Indians being interviewed about abject poverty they live in are watching thier monster “big screen tvs”—-oh wait
samantha t, do not lecture me, as I am probably old enough to be your grandfather, have farmed most of my life and left the land better than I found it, served part time in the military for over thirty years and done voluntary community service work for most of them.
I will not relocate to a cave and eat grass to satisfy some utopian dream that has no basis in reality. Most of my family had seventy years of the utopia in the Soviet Union that your ideological soul mates tried to ram down everybody’s throats and some paid the ultimate price for disagreeing.
Bloody professors have filled your heads with nonsense and now you want a free ride.
Oh my…she’s running for office AND she’s a normal twenty something!?! God help us!
And I feel sorry for all of you that are so unhappy in your adult lives, that you could hate someone you don’t even know for trying to improve the quality of life for students. Just because you never got a helping hand, doesn’t mean you didn’t deserve one, just like we do. We are just fortunate enough to have people out there fighting to help us, and sacrificing their time to do so.
And sorry Jeff, there’s no sand in my vag, as I wear a wetsuit when I surf and have saved up long and hard to buy said wetsuit so I could live a happy life on the coast while not in school — So I don’t end up stale and sour like most of the hating nutcases on here! Sorry you can’t go back in time and make your university days peachy keen. and Sorry our youth has more compassion, and cares more about living happily. It seems we have our priorities in order, if all we want is a happy healthy life and earth.
Don’t be to mean to her, at least she left her car at the bar.
samantha t >
“I bet your house drains more power in a month than a whole village outside of Canada does…”
I’ll bet Al Gore and David Suzuki’s houses(s) do as well.
They applaud you in India & China “yaaaaa samantha”, you should go there and take a bow.
