  5. All you have to know about the US economy and Obama’s contribution to this decades long disaster.
    The funded debt of the US government rose by a total of $US 50 Billion over the TWO
    DECADES between 1946 and 1965. Over the next two decades – 1966-1985 – the funded debt rose by $US 1.6 TRILLION. In the two decades after that – 1986-2005 – it rose just under $US 6 TRILLION. And in the SIX years between the end of 2005 and the end of 2011, it rose
    another 8.1 TRILLION. By the end of January, 2012 this will be increased by $US 2.1 TRILLION over just 5 months. Obama has increased America’s debt more than all the Presidents before him added together. Even those on the left might notice a trend here and it will not end well for all of us.
    To illustrate how hard it is to create private sector jobs Steve Jobs met with Obama and told him how easy it was to build a factory in China but impossible in America because of regulations and unnecessary costs. Jobs also attacked America’s education system as hopelessly antiquated and crippled by union work rules (sounds like Ontario). Until the teacher’s unions were broken there was no hope for educational reform. Zero chance of this happening as unions are the Democrats bully boys.
    All Obama’s talk about taxing the rich is just Marxist class warfare as Obama’s mentors like Ayers, Van Jones and Dornn taught him. Take every nickel the rich have, their homes, businesses and investment and it would not keep the US economy going for 1 year as the spending, spending just continues to increase.

  11. I did not listen to the SOTU speech last night. Frankly, I could not bear to watch the polarizing class warfare rhetoric that this failed president engages in to facilitate his re-election. Make no mistake, if the citizens of the US re-elect this man they are doomed, economically, socially and culturally. It is the end of the greatest experiment in individual liberty in the history of mankind. I know that sounds ominous and grandiose but that is the future under his leadership.
    I read a book many years ago, The Road Less Travelled by Scott Peck. The opening sentence, “Life is difficult”, is prescient of the conundrum facing the American voter today. It is easier to believe today’s difficulties can be resolved by big government solutions rather than through individual initiative. That is the easy road. It is much more difficult to acknowledge that the resolutions to today’s difficulties are my problem and can only be addressed and resolved by me. That requires characteristics like humility, honesty, individual responsibility and integrity. Those things are hard. It’s easier to point the finger of blame at others than it is to suck it up and get to work improving your own circumstances. By the way, there is an old saying, when you point your finger at someone else there are three pointing right back at you.
    It speaks to Barrack Obama’s character, or perhaps lack of character, that he would choose to engage in such shallow class warfare by pitting one American against another on the basis of level of achievement. The Declaration of Independence states clearly that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. It does not say that everyone is entitled to equal results regardless of effort or input. It does not say that everyone is entitled to share in other’s success by confiscation through big government. The opening statement is one of the most powerful affirmations of individual liberty ever uttered. When Obama threatens the liberty of one class in favor of another he undermines everyone’s liberty. Gerald Ford said, “If the government is big enough to give you everything you want, it is big enough to take away everything you have.”
    Every morning when I get up I reflect on this affirmation, “grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.” I suppose this makes me an outlier. On reflection, I have enjoyed a greater degree of success than many in society. This has come about through a combination of luck, foresight and hard work. It has not come about at the expense of any other person. I am proud of that. I wonder if Obama and those that support his strategies for re-election can make the same statement.

  14. I watched it at CBC, the interesting thing was the reaction of our Canadian “journalists” at that proud Network.
    From their enthusiastic remarks,you’d think they’d just witnessed the Sermon on the Mount, instead of the same old platitudes and class warfare.
    The expression on the faces of so many Democrats was beautiful to behold,especially Hilary Clinton.
    Joe Biden deserves an Oscar for maintaining his wooden face throughout,maybe he uses some sort of anesthetic.
    But the Canadian journalists were all tingly, smitten by Obama’s brilliant rhetoric,maybe they don’t realise he uses a teleprompter.
    Obama should move to Canada and head up the NDP,he’d probably win in a landslide.

  18. I haven’t been able to stomach a state of the union speech since (and including) Clinton.
    It’s difficult for a looter and thug to come up with new innocuous sounding jargon while successfully hiding his intentions from only the minimally sentient. America’s only salvation will come from a form of (hopefully non-violent) civil war between the producers and parasites, middle class and elites, Tea Parties and progressives. The fictitious notion of common ground between the two rather than eternal vigilance is what got us here.

    Loved the facial expressions of those present, especially Timothy Geithner’s and Hillary Clinton’s. Priceless. Hillary is such a faker, telling Obama it was “the best speech.”

    Something with an 8th grade recommendation is probably closest to the truth.

  26. Obama has repeated the same lies over and over again so it surprises me that he still relies on his teleprompter so much. That’s like a singer who sings the same tune so many times but still needs to read the song from a cheat sheet.

  27. Why does he yell. I cant get past his behaviiour that he hectors and yells.
    Is it because he is following Rudyard Kiplings suggestion when speaking to people who dont understand you….speak slower and louder then they will get it, even if they dont understand English.
    But I will say that his political startegy is borrowing a page from John Howard, Conservative Australian PM, Cameron conservative Brit PM and Harper. Howard called them “the battlers”, Cameron and Harper referred to them in different language but always the same theme….those who play by the rules shouldnt be punished and should have a fair shot.
    The difference is the other three, largely, were talking about removing barriers from government. Obama tlaks about fair play, equal opportunity but thinks it is government that delivers that and slides in inequality of result as evidence of unequal shot, which is a bastardization of it all.
    Interesting strategy, this is the natural nlanguage of the GOP unless they are going to defend rich guys….Interesting that Obama has adopted the strategy of the conservatives.

    All the BS this guy spins yet still people trust him. He lies like a rug all the time , every time.
    Reminds me of Trudeau, only worse.

  30. It’s a shame there’s no good solid conservative opposition to Obama. The Tea Party did well in 2010, let’s hope they come out again or the US as we know it is finished.

    “The University of Minnesota’s Smart Politics conducted an analysis on the last 70 State of the Union addresses and found that President Obama’s three addresses have the lowest grade average of any modern president. ‘Obama’s average grade-level score of 8.4 is more than two grades lower than the 10.7 grade average for the other 67 addresses written by his 12 predecessors,’ they conclude. . . .”

    As an assessor of English, I’m not the least bit surprised. I’ve been analysing Obama’s altogether substandard spoken and written English from the unfortunate minute I was first aware of it. I literally cannot stand to hear this man speak: the experience is like hearing nails scraped across a blackboard.
    The scariest thing, as others have affirmed, is that the blatancy of this impostor’s incompetence and deviance isn’t apparent to the automatons our secular, progressive educational systems are spewing out. God help us.

  32. Of course lookout the real question is why. Oblamebush most likely doesn’t write his own speeches so why is the English so basic? I suspect that Oblamebush can only read a pair of teleprompters at a grade 8 level so his speeches are written with the reader in mind.

  33. Joe, I suspect you’re right. It’s altogether depressing, and dangerous, that so many really believe that Zer0 isn’t anything other than an affirmative action attendee at Columbia and Harvard (and impostor in the role of POTUS) or that he was actually a law “professor”.
    There’s no record that he’s written anything of substance: his two books were ghost written, “Dreams of My Father”, likely by felon, Bill Ayers. All of Zer0’s academic records are sealed: shouldn’t that have raised the sheeples’ antennae? The fact that a critical mass of “citizens” are sleep walking through life—like Well’s Eloi—is alarming in the extreme.
    Wow . . . I just checked the Wikipedia entry for “Eloi”: H.G. Wells’s “Time Machine” is a little too close for comfort. Here’s part of the entry: “By the year 802,701 AD, humanity has evolved into two separate species: the Eloi and the Morlocks. The Eloi are the child-like, frail group, living a banal life of ease on the surface of the earth, while the Morlocks live underground, tending machinery and providing food, clothing and infrastructure for the Eloi. Each class evolved and degenerated from humans. The novel suggests that the separation of species may have been the result of a widening split between different social classes, a theme that reflects Wells’ sociopolitical opinions.

  34. I loved the bit about stopping expelling bright young people who will staff our researech labs, etc as he discussed immigration. What a hoot. Look at the literacy rates and the high school dropout rates among hispanic children of illegals. They are abysmal.
    The only thing those kids will wind up doing is working in fast food, or joining a gang. Kick em all out.
