Here’s the speech John Stossel wishes would have been given last night.
Related: A State of Denial (or simply a speech given by a huckster who has zero respect for those he’s speaking to?)

While Maobama’s speech was judged to be at 8th grade level…composition, vocabulary is a trivial consideration…..when the content is bordering on NIL.
Winston Churchill’s famous BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS speech was a masterpiece of content but simple english…..the word “endeaver” being the exception. Corad Black probably discourages a lot of readers with the use of a vocabulary that sends any serious reader scrambling for a dictionary…..but Maobama’s speech was an insult to the listener.
Excellent, Robert; thanks for the link. It’s a great read. John Stossel is a right-wing freedom-loving small-government libertarian who also loves Ron Paul! Actually, Ron Paul could have written that segment, for he preaches exactly what Stossel is preaching. Here’s a great John Stossel video from his show on Sunday:

Good that I can read 1200 wpm just like JFK.
” part of presenting an image of intellectualism, and Sidey gave the president a reading test. It was 700 words a minute, which is about what most intelligent college-educated people read, somewhere around that rate. Then they went into a negotiation with Kennedy saying, “We can’t say it; that’s low.” They finally compromised on, as I recall, 1,200 words a minute, which was what was printed. Again, it was like the London School of Economics. Kennedy had said he had taken a speed reading course, and in fact, he signed up for it but never went.”
From Richard Reeves: President Kennedy: Profile of Power
From the ‘a state of denial’ link;
” What’s happening in Detroit can happen in other industries.”
Uh,I don’t think ‘Detroit’ was the proper word to use there ,if you want to lift people’s spirits.
I wanted his speech to be 2 words.
“I quit”
very astute Terry, I’m impressed.
The further he tries to spread it …. the thinner it gets.
Like I said in 2008 … this man is a phony.
I’ll wait for a transcript of the SOTU speech as I can’t stand to listen to Obozo. At least now the choices in the US election are quite clear: more statist interference with the economy and ones freedoms or free enterprise. John Stossel made a number of good points but I think that:
All destructive laws must go. I endorse the Stossel Rule: For every new law passed, we must repeal two old ones.
is something we should implement immediately in Canada as well. I do however, think that repealing only 2 laws for every new one passed is a bit conservative and would propose that me instead repeal 6 or more existing laws for each new one passed. Idiotic regulations by bureaucratic agencies could be repealed also under the modified Stossel rule.
I liked John Stossels ‘speech’; a lot. I am on the same page as John S. and Judge Napolitano re: Ron Paul.
The ‘present’ President is very successful and clever – his agenda is to bring America to it’s knees; he is succeeding beyond his wildest ‘Dreams from his (Bolshevic) Dad’.
Ron Paul is the only hope for Americans who value their freedom; they are on the edge of state slave misery beyond their worst nightmares (see posts by Ken(kulak) for a glimpse into that black world.
The ‘present’ President will turn into a blood thirsty thug and all will be lost. The clever ‘present’ President will bellow and laugh with glee as he realizes the ‘dreams from his Dad’.
