Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Seems to me the “professional” “journalists” out there are content with the status quo. What’s your point, Kate?
We’re spending it for the children.
Let me guess, his name was Ted Morton and his wife is named Alison and the daughters name is Alberta.
Well done. Sometimes it’s necessary to point out absurdities that involve numbers of a magnitude that an increasingly innumerate population can’t understand in terms that they can. Looks like most US politicians are also innumerate or hoping for astronomical rates of inflation to wipe out the national debt. Ron Paul seems to be the only politician who’s set up his financial portfolio to deal with the fallout.
Simple, effective, and probably still to complex for most socialists to grasp. Bravo!
That video is both funny & frightening. I don’t believe any reasonable person could argue about the absurdity of such an individual in that situation. But yet, more than a few of these so-called “reasonable” people take an entirely different view when they view such a situation on a national level and are told that the solution is to dramatically cut frivolous public sector spending. Strange, no?
Simple, effective and hard for socialists to grasp is right.
Robert, frightening is so true. We can only imagine the pain that Joe and May Six-pack will experience when the financial chickens come home to roost. This entitlement overspending can only be passed on to so many generations.
Loki has it right, astronomical rates of inflation will be needed to wipe out the debt in Europe and in the US.
The cleanup will not be pretty.
Then there are those idiots who think that because the country is deep in debt and still rolling along that they can do the same with their family finances, until their mortgage defaults and their home is foreclosed.
The Chinese have the advantage because their system isn’t hobbled by a 4-year-term political circus. First they drove American manufacturing
overseas by flooding the market with cheap disposable crap that Americans sucked up like candy. This created massive unemployment that drove down real estate value as houses were foreclosed. Now the Chinese are buying up American property at 10 cents on the dollar with all those greenbacks Americans gave them at MalWart. Americans still can’t see they did it to themselves. It’s always easier to blame the current POTUS and believe that the next one of different political stripe will save them. Such fools.
Those who fail to learn from the lessons of history are doomed to repeat the mistakes, including those Canadians who are just as much over their heads in debt as the Americans they emulate.
That greedy banker is one of the 1% of zionist wealth controllers who can’t help the oppressed 99% of poor Americans like that guy who needs the increase!
Are we supposed to be disgusted with the guy in debt, or the banker who gave in, and loaned him the money? I think there’s some shared responsibility here.
Nice video. Could be a Ron Paul campaign ad.
The borrower would have been more honest, and up front …. if he’d have simply shot the kid.
Tough to take, but that’s just what he’s doing.
Its like watching government in action.
I’ve seen it explained in numbers. This is even better. I love that the acting wasn’t overdone. The basic facts tell a dramatic enough story.
You could sub in a CBC exec, and the min of heritage and it wouldn’t change a thing.
We have a considerable number of people in Canada, a majority no doubt, who think along the lines of this video. Even those who run conservative family finances have no problem with governments behaving exactly as the individual in the video. A significant number of citizens have swallowed the koolaid that government does not have to operate to balanced budgets. Until this changes there is no hope. Until there is an equivalent to the Tea Party in Canada there is no hope.
I am sure we all know or have been told stories of the criminal waste of taxpayers money through the bureacracy that consumes it and continues to grow. Instead of the class struggle of rich vs poor the MSM should attack the group that really consumes the countries wealth. The latest classic example is Indian Affairs and the + $10 billion they consume to what purpose.
A friend who’s daughter works for the feds in Ottawa tells him about her 4 hour days at her + $175,000 a year job(?). There is absolutely no accountability because the people who administer the money have no idea of the scope of work or how to measure effectiveness.
Or another story about a federal supervisor in Yellowknife who could bring contractors in from Edmonton and have projects completed at less than half the money. The existing contractors in Yellowknife had established relationships with previous fed administrators that went back over 30 years! How much wasted money?
As Canadians we like to think this is wasted money or inefficient government flukies. The reality is more likely graft and corruption. No accountability and no end of money always breeds a uglier side of the human condition. This process continues as many citizens suffer from lack of health care etc.
I do not blame the politicans anymore. I blame those who sit back and accept the status quo. The real scary aspect of this reality is that the younger people don’t even question the process anymore.
The genius of Obama is that he has purged any mention of controlling spending from his vocabulary, leaving all discussion involving adult behavior and related discomfort to the Republicans. He is therefore portrayed by his palace guard media as defender of the nice against the nasty. The flock of Obama worshipers, happy in the group think cocoon of the institutional left, follow his lead continuing their adolescent existence oblivious to the consequences (and voting accordingly). This is no different than the union leaders who advised their rank and file to never believe anything that management said until the day they arrive at the plant to discover a locked gate.
