  34. Just when you think California couldn’t get any weirder they surprise you. This law is clearly discriminatory against pr0n actors with latex allergies. Also, people who view “adult entertainment” don’t want to see condoms.
    The primary disease that one is seeking to prevent is HIV and this is easily screened for with an HIV viral load blood test (incidentally illegal to do in Canada on someone who is not known to be HIV+ – one of the most absurd medical anomalies I’ve run into). I presume all of the “actors” have been vaccinated against HepB which is highly infectious but only 5% of people who get it become carriers. Any other venereal diseases can be easily treated with a course of doxycycline or cefixime. HSV can be easily suppressed with valcyclovir and HPV can be diagnosed by visual inspection.
    Maybe the HIV-phobia is a left coast phenomenon as in Vancouver people seemed to be terrified at the prospect of having sex given the “risks”. peterj, your low estimate of 84% of HIV cases being homosexual is likely based on US data. Anyone who is black is much more likely to get HIV as there seems to be no innate immunity against HIV. Northern Europeans have a high proportion of people who are unable to become infected by HIV which reaches 15% in some populations. My estimate of homosexual prevalence of HIV in Vancouver was about 95+% homosexual. Most of the female HIV+ patients I saw were iv coke users with a propensity for sharing syringes.
    Where I practice in the interior of BC, condomania seems to be non-existent and chlamydia is very widespread. Haven’t seen a single heterosexual case of HIV here despite a situation that appears to be equivalent to 1970’s levels of promiscuity.
    One option for solving California’s problems would be enacting a zero CO2 emission plan for their politicians and government employees. Unless they would be able to come up immediately with an environmentally acceptable means of sequestering their CO2 emissions, they would be required to hold their breaths until such time that they could do so. If such a proposal was enacted in a referendum, California might suddenly become a desirable location to live again.

  35. I guess all of the good laws have already been passed so to justify their phony baloney jobs politicians continue to look for ways to get their names on something which means enacting crap laws like this and all the other ones that continually erode the rights and freedoms of the citizen.
    The good news it that the porn industry may now move to Canada and that will be good for our economy plus creating job opportunities for “qualified” male actors.
