Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Yup, rate the comments, and report abuse.
On the CBC anyone who disagrees with me is reported for vulgarity!
Ahhh, them moderators/censors need something to do…
Ready Aim FIRE!!
Haven’t had so much fun since exploding water filled oil tins…

So simple. Everything rated negative gets reported as hate speech/vulgarity and thumbed down some more.
Apparently the poll has gone so far awry that it’s your fault Kate!
Ah it always warms my heart to screw with their world view. They just have no idea what the ROC thinks.
Not the result the CBC wanted. Buy a bumper sticker:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Privatize-the-Left-Wing-Biased-CBC-Bumper-Sticker-10-Defund-stocking-stuffers-/170739819739
Makes a great stocking stuffer!
Would it be appropriate to call those poll results and comment scores a “shitkicking”? anyone..? anyone..?..Rae..?..Trudeau..?…
“Information Commissioner Suzanne Legault says destroying the data would violate the letter and spirit of the Library and Archives of Canada Act.
Privacy Commissioner Jennifer Stoddart has urged caution in destroying the data and said there is nothing in federal law that prevents the government from sharing it with provincial counterparts….”
And Billy Kaputnik, Commissioner of Sore Arses from Pumphandle Ontario, says ‘f*** ’em’….
Well synchro, since you mentioned it:
On the same page is a silly question about the Turd-drop in the HoC. Since we all like messing CBC polls might as well make it a two-fer. Bad case of Trudeau mania there right now.
Rick: “They just have no idea what the ROC thinks.”
They do now.
On a not so distant topic… I support a Quebec long gun registry because it sets a provincial precedent for firearms laws. Quebec and GTA get total firearm bans and Alberta gets concealed carry and castle doctrine. Everyone is happy. I don’t see the problem.
“Everyone is happy. I don’t see the problem.”
The problem is you’re then at the mercy of the Provincial government, and if you live in a Province like B.C.,which flirts with the NDP on occasion, you could have your guns outlawed by your Province, one Province at a time until we’re ALL disarmed.
If firearms were Provincial jurisdiction, it’s likely Quebec,Saskatchewan,Manitoba,B.C.,Ontario would have seized ’em all during their Dipper periods.
Batb
done, although we have some ground to make!
All this will do is convince the CBC that the internet is the worst place to do a poll. We all go there and pull the results our way.
You want to show your support, make a donation to the party. Tell them why you’re donating.
*Then* go and vote on the poll.
Norman
We’re just tugging the chain a bit…
Somewhere on the campus of Uni of Ottawa there is heard wailing and bawling from a limpie called Allan Rock, it seemed so easy to follow the UN/Turdough order to disarm Canadians, it was pre-ordained by the CBC god himself Peeair that we would conform, well who is the POS now Justin, all the pillars of your communist father are being blown away by common sense, oh the humanity, people turning their backs on your bi-daddys despicable laws. Honesty will always win out, may take a while but it will always win, suck it up liberals it is over.
What are the odds the CBC reports these poll numbers tomorrow?
@ marco: the Alberta PCs under Red would probably ban firearms if she could.
@ dmorris: there was nothing stopping the Federal Liberals and prior to them the Federal Progressive Conservatives from incrementally working towards banning all firearms.
Its only a matter of time until the next left wing government. I expect we’ll see handgun bans and semi auto bans at that time.
The collection of data has some troubling aspects, some in the scientific community think that vast data Banks can replicate and replace human intelligence…That it is not necessary to understand the laws of Science if you just glob data to data (Scientific America dec2011) “The Machine that would predict the Future” David Weinberger
I think we already have enough of those bad model theories like AGW being forced on humanity…Good for Economists, good for wealth redistribution, good for the gangsters…What could go wrong!
Quebec will sell the Data to the bastards.
Wow, that really is incredible. The CBC pre-moderated comment moderator must have fallen asleep at the switch.
Just got this in an email. Dont have a source yet.
“Ed Burlew LL.B announces he has assembled a team of five lawyers, specialists in
Firearms Law, Constitutional Law and Class Actions to counter any law suits of
Quebec or any other Province or entity regarding the destruction of
Non-Restricted Records.
Mr. Burlew said today ” We firearms owners are two million strong, law abiding
individuals with rights that will not be impeded by the selfish political moves
of any Province. We are proud Canadians and we will not tolerate being databased
like criminals any longer. We welcome the quick passage of Bill C-19 into law
this winter or spring and I know from talking to thousands of gun owners that
they are fed up with the shenanigans and posturing of anti gun groups be they
Individuals or Governments. ”
”
This is an excerpt from the letter I sent to my MP:
I recently received another request for donation from the Conservative Party. While I’ve contributed in the past I won’t be donating in the future until the Long Gun Registry is gone and the Charter of Rights violations are removed from the Firearms Act. Specifically the sections in the Act which criminalize firearms owners by allowing unreasonable search and seizure, and being considered guilty until proven innocent. The Charter is supposed to protect the rights of all Canadians.
As an owner of registered firearms, the law says that the police can come to my home and search it without a warrant. I would have to help them or face charges, and they can seize anything they find. This is unreasonable because for anyone else, they need a warrant, one doesn’t have to help, and if they don’t have a warrant for what they find, then they have to leave it until they get a new warrant. All because I’m obeying the law. Why should I face that when the government thoroughly vetted me when I applied for and received my license to own firearms?
When I’m no longer treated as a criminal by the Firearms Act, then I will contribute once again the the Conservative Party. This Government has a majority to get it right and decriminalize firearms ownership in Canada. If they can’t do that within this mandate then they will be going into the next election without my support.
How about outlawing all guns for anyone living in Quebec and leaving the rest of us alone with our lawful long guns?
That should keep nos amis happy in their socialist la-la land, since they never gave a fig what went on in the ROC anyway.
It’s an incremental thing. First the Registry, then the Charter of Rights violations in the Firearms Act. Then Castle Doctrine and then Concealed Carry Permits. It’s do-able.
The amazing Quebec logic – “We have already paid for it; you must give it to us”.
First – The Liberals lied and then stole the money from taxpayers through deceit to build the LGR.
Second – Quebec only uses money from western equalization welfare to afford its wasteful indulgences.
NO, although the LGR is flawed and unusable, you freaky little morons cannot have the information regarding my personal property. So f*ck off already.

Don’t know how they did it,bluetech, but just went in to the Turdeau-pukes offsprings, and you can’t use the report function any more…oh…and comments on the main are now shut down.I am a registered user, and can’t post, although it doesn’t say that….ummmmmmmm
Leftards, evil or stupid? That would make a great essay if I was at university, but since I’m not I would like to muse on the subject here. What possible good is a database that is not maintained? If they get rid of the registry, but keep the database I will sell all my guns and buy other ones. Then the data will be completely wrong. Practically, If I am a licensed owner and they don’t get rid of the illegal search and seizure provisions the cops can still kick in my door in the middle of the night and drag away my gun safe assuming there are guns in it by virtue of the fact that I am a registered owner. That should keep the lefties happy and is something that the conservatives must work on changing next.
Since they still have kick in the door powers getting rid of the registry means nothing. It never did. As an example, I used to own a rifle that had a four digit serial number in a model that was manufactured in the millions. So, if I took my antique four foot long bolt action rifle with a five round mag, robbed a bank while armed with it, and for the convenience of the police left it at the crime scene they couldn’t definitively trace it back to me anyway.
We have to conclude that lefties are evil, and conduct our business accordingly. We have plenty of history to show that this is correct. In a civilized free country, some issues are beyond the realm of politics. That includes the right to security of the person and the right to bare arms. These are inalienable rights which we wrestled from kings 1000 years ago. The Trudeau charter did not abolish them. In fact no government has the right to abolish them, but we do have to fight to maintain them.

And that’s why the RCMP local looked the other way when the cretin registry sucked 5 billion out of us.
They already knew about my arsenal, and knew I only will shoot varmits and chretien sycophants with them.
I wish the would have saved me the trouble by shooting a certain french man…..

Justin, Justin, Justin. Tsk.
Apparently the evidence of CRU emails etc, falsifying data, concealing datasets, the movement to transfer wealth from “have” countries to “not have” countries dictators has not yet reached your idealist brain cell.

Musleteer. More like Puss in Boots, I’d say. Good name for the little tit.
Not only destroyed, but specific penalties established for keeping it after a certain grace period…so we don’t find out 5 years from now that someone kept a copy and no one goes to jail.

“Leftards, evil or stupid?”
Some are stupid, some are evil and some are both. The common ground between the varying factions of leftist fanaticism is mental illness.
They all have it to one degree or another.
Some are Hippies looking for John Lennon’s strawberry fields, while others are totalitarians looking for Vladimir Lennon’s killing fields, yet they share similar fantastical realms of societal control, depravity, and self indulgence.
What are the odds that the GTA’s Blair has not long past directed his staff to compile a de facto registry using data from the CFR….
This could possibly explain all those alleged thousands of daily requests to the CFR….
I never had experienced a home-invasion prior to the recent armed robbery by brigands equiped with detailed knowledge of my property. IMHO the registry is a clear and present danger to public safety…
“@ dmorris: there was nothing stopping the Federal Liberals and prior to them the Federal Progressive Conservatives from incrementally working towards banning all firearms.”
Langman, They tried, and were working in that direction when Paul Martin somehow screwed up and lost the reins, but both those Parties still had rural MP’s that depended on the votes of gun owners, and that slowed the process a bit.
My point is,at the Provincial level, such as here in B.C.,the Parties are much more able to force their agendas on us as the Lower Mainland and Victoria have so many legislature seats, and the two big cities don’t have much problem with banning anything that doesn’t directly affect them on a daily basis.
The two biggest cities here are hotbeds of radical activism, where every group we blog about comes from and where their support lies. Whether it’s bears, marijuana, save the environment,anti-forestry,anti-mining, anti-fish farms, anti-guns,global warming,anti-business,the activism starts in the big cities. There is little doubt a ban-the-guns movement Provincially would have a lot more influence in Victoria than in Ottawa.
Our current desperate Premier would probably take a serious look at that legislation if they had the power.
Our Provincial NDP,when they were in government, given the powers to enact gun control legislation would have undoubtedly banned most firearms, possibly ALL firearms,as in the 90’s they had many MLA’s that were utterly opposed to firearms ownership by the peasants.
So, for those reasons, imho,it’s better that firearms legislation is the responsibility of the Federal Government than the individual Provinces.
The only real answer is the repeal of all gun laws.
as I have said before they can register and license my weapons when they pry them from my cold dead hands.
When you have to ask someone else for permission where is the freedom?
