rabbit’s recollection of his chilly “first year college” reminds me of the general practice re heating in the UK.
That Headmaster’s shutting down the heating is not quite so insane when placed in context….recall his comment about the “children falling asleep from the heat”….
Due to the reality that during Elizabethan times, the Brit’s had an enrgy crisis….they ran out of fuel wood and a scotsman became wealthy by introducing coal mining on an industrial basis.
The result was an (to our viewpoint) extreme control of tree cutting and an insane conservation of fuel (cool cold homes) because coal cost money.
The Brits seem always bundled up in woolly pulleys, and their notion of central heating is a small heater in the centre of the house.
During WW2 the Brit’s were appalled with the Yank/Canuck practice of “running the central heating full out” in their barracks….which the Brits viewed as a scandolous waste and the colonials regarded as chilly.
This cultural thing is what makes the Brits such fertile ground for this AGW scam….that and a de facto Bolshevik infiltration.
I recall a few years back, a couple…recent Brit immigrants….the gal was soooo homesick and couldn’t wait to “go home for Christmas”….they were back before New Years….the gal declared….the first time I felt warm was when I got back on the #$%^& plane. Assimilated!

If the CO2 level in the atmosphere is doubled it would still be a trace gas. But the benefits to the biosphere in terms of increased foliage would be great.
In grade 2, my sons learned about photosynthesis and how important carbon dioxide (CO2)was for the process of making food for the plant. So, these young, Canadian idiots don’t really have an excuse for not knowing that simple little fact. Furthermore, when the oil sands are reclaimed into normal soil and plants can actually grow…an abundance of CO2 actually helps them grow bigger much faster.
As of this post, I see many (not all) have have made it past the moderator. This must have been something new for them and they were not sure how to handle it. Opposing views ? What a concept !
What a bunch of naive fools. Think of the infrastructure these people used just to get to South Africa, the oil, food, electricity and the myriads of others who ensured they arrived safely and unfortunately their return.
Oh, by the way Brigette stop in to Egypt on your way home and check out how the “Arab Spring” is working out. Be sure to wear your hajib as things could get a little dicey if you don’t.
I say leave this young idiots in Durban and let them find their own (environmentally friendly) way back to Canada. Hiking, camel caravans, rafts etc — shouldn’t take them more than a year or two to get home…
