How’s That Hopey-Changey Thing Working Out For Ya?

Via Drudge;

After trailing Obama by more than 20 percentage points in polls all year, the new national survey, taken Sept. 13-14, found Palin trailing the president by just 5 points, 49-44 percent. The key reason: She now leads Obama among independents, a sharp turnaround.

  1. Polls show that a majority of Tea Partiers and Republicans want her to stay out of it. For good reason.

  2. Anyone who takes the bimbette Palin seriously is clearly delusional. However, the more she is involved the better off the democrats will be, so go Sarah go, show your true colors.

  3. At this point Dan Qualle should be ahead of Chairman O – actually anybody with a pulse should be able to beat him.

  4. Seriously … Palin? Ok, granted, she’s a bit more sane than Bachmann, but that’s like saying a triangle is a bit more round than a square. And look at the rest of the lineup … I-take-orders-from-god-Perry, magic-underpants-Romney, and crazy uncle Paul?
    I miss Bush 🙁

  5. Perhaps the following explains closing poll numbers gap.
    [Crony Capitalism on Steroids from GE to Solyndra]
    A dyed-in-the-wool liberal friend of mine emphatically agreed with that statement until he found out is was Palin’s.

    When I showed him what Obama said/does at the same time, my fiend was absolutely speechless. (An unaware, MSNBC viewer)

  6. Judging from the swift appearance of the trolls here…..Palin continues to scare the bejeebus out of them…as she has from the very get-go.
    Say watcha like the US Democrats are the most skillful, adept but corrupt politicians….their denunciation is objectively the highest commendation….read them in reverse….they are doing the old “don’t throw me in that thar briar patch”.
    The beltway politicos from boths sides fear her, karl Rove especially….The Republican establishment is going the way of the Whigs….
    Perhaps American politics has degenerated into air-headed nonsense….Obama’s election proved that….however Palin can generate more enthusiasm than any other political figure in recent history….and the LSM is powerless to stop it…..because unwittingly they have vetted Palin, and gave Palin the best name/face recognition them democrats could buy…..
    Unintended consequences……

  7. So, a troll is anyone who doesn’t suck up to your personal opinion?
    Wake up and realize that a troll is anyone who can’t rationally discuss the issues, so they spend their time personally attacking people they don’t like. Denigrating politicians or other forum members, it’s all the same for people who live in a shallow “he said”, “she said” world.
    Most individuals can only talk about people, some can talk about things, but only a few can discuss concepts and ideas.

  8. “Judging from the swift appearance of the trolls here…..Palin continues to scare the bejeebus out of them…as she has from the very get-go.”
    ‘s true. Ayatollah Palin has no business running any country, let alone one with nuclear weapons. If you’re not scared of having a lunatic with her finger on the button, you’re a fraking moron.

  9. I was a huge Sarah Palin fan, but the fact is that the media has demolished any credibility she had. She has not helped by her indecisiveness on running. Facebook postings hardly compare to policy speeches. She has only appeared on “friendly” media and appears weak when she will not go on “hostile to conservative” shows. We know we get the shaft on these shows, but the reality is that many people do not watch FOX and this is their only exposure. Like it or not it is necessary to do. She did not do her homework and improve her credentials. Even if she had, can you imagine her demolishing Obama in a debate. The only clip you’d see in the lamestream media is her winking and saying you betcha. She will never win. If she’s lost me as a staunch conservative (fiscal and social) there is no way she will win independents. The only thing she will do is split the conservative vote in the primary and hand Romney the nomination. Hopefully she will keep her pundit job at Fox and stay out of this race. I agree with others that Palin’s primary concern over the last year appears to be the Palin brand, and not the good of the country.

  10. Palin’s real power lies in the fact that if she stays out of the leadershipe race, she will be the kingmaker. Her endorsement of one of the candidates may also garner her the Vice President’s position too.
    To Nicole…..the only reason Palin had to prove her credentials was the fact the mainstream media only ever asked Obama soft ball questions and never properly vetted him. They were star struck with their new golden calf, Obama. By contrast Palin had a full scale colonoscopy.

  11. I think what’s interesting here is
    A) A woman who has been subjected to the biggest maximum disruption media assault -ever- is looking like an easy walk in a contest against Obama for President. A woman who is not even a candidate, let us recall.
    B) The trolls all show up freaking out whenever Sara Palin is mentioned. You little boys hate and fear a -girl-. bwaha!
    Your man-child Leader has feet of clay, trolls. Sarah Palin’s dog could beat Obama.

  12. You know Ken, Maxine Waters probably wouldn’t be worse than Barry. That’s the really frightening thing. She just doesn’t talk as smooth, is all.

  13. Eskimo – Yes I totally agree. They refused to look at Ayers, Wright, Rezko…….Not to mention the hit jobs they have done on her children while ignoring the antics of say Joe Biden’s daughter with regards to her cocaine usage – not to mention Obama’s own admission of doing “blow”. But be that as it may the damage is done. My own American in laws automatically think of Tina Fey instead of the reality of who and what Sarah Palin has accomplished. Even conservatives call her a quitter after being disabled from doing her job and wasting valuable resources from frivolous lawsuits without end. Because she is not a candidate and does not have to bow to the altar of political correctness she is free to call a spade and spade. She has invaluable fund raising abilities as well. Her endorsement is a valuable asset. I have no doubt that she would make an outstanding President. However, we can wishcast all we want. She will never get elected.

  14. In my opinion, Independents realized their mistake with their vote for Obama and they’re not going to want four more years of this. The majority of them will vote for whoever the Republicans nominate, regardless of who it is.
    I can see where you’re coming from Nicole, but like Eskimo mentioned, Palin has been the most vetted candidate due to the MSM’s obsession with her for four years. I believe most people are starting to recognize this and the MSM’s deplorable behavior. This is why I don’t buy into your claim that the “media has demolished any credibility she had”. People are starting to realize that the media had no credibility to begin with and cannot be trusted.

  15. I remember the insults heaped on Pres Reagan. I remember one of my university profs making fun of him by calling him Pres RAYGUN (as per the SDI). However, it turns out that “hick”, “B” movie actor, “imbecile” turned president pretty much accomplished what all the Ivy League intellectuals thought impossible at the time–defeated the USSR without firing a shot and his economic policies brought the US two economically profitable decades. Gee, I wonder what Sarah Palin will bring about when she’s elected as president. She is actually making sure that the congress she gets is made up of Tea Party congressmen/women vice the Democrat-heavy congress Pres Reagan was saddled with during his tenure. Yup, she certainly isn’t very smart–setting herself up for future success as the pres of the US.

  16. When it was Bush vs. Kerry I couldn’t beleive how the left and thier media lapdogs portryed Bush 43 as the coke head delinquent fly boy and Kerry was somehow the real hero because he was on the ground in Viet Nam. Thankfully the Swiftboaters were there to scrutinize Kerry’s lies and set the record straight.
    Suddenly military service wasn’t a big deal when Obama ran against McCain. During their 20’s McCain was getting his limbs broken by his captors in the Hanoi Hilton and Obama was snorting coke and earning mediocre grades at college. And Obama’s past is under lock and key.
    During the campaign the GOP second runner was under more scrutiny than the Democrat’s front runner. It boggles the mind this blatent double standard.
    Troubling that in telling Obama supporters “we told you so” their once great country will soon be laying in ruin. But the left doesn’t care. It’s all about power and the end always justifies the means. They are content in wrecking the country if that’s what it takes to remain in the White House.
    Think about our recent brush with death with the Lib/Dip/Bloc coalition and thank your lucky stars.

  17. From a commenter at American Thinker;
    Sarah Palin will immediately electrify, energize and excite the core of the Tea Party movement – the most significant grassroots citizen movement in 30 years. The power that started as the “Santelli Rant” in 2009, moved to sweep up Teddy Kennedy’s seat, New Jersey & Virginia Governorships, the epic 2010 ass-whipping and the even more unbelievable victory represented by NY-9 in NYC last week. 2012 will be an enormous continuation of the anti-Obama, anti-Liberal, anti-RINO movement sweeping America. Neither Perry nor Romney are members of this “Tea Party Movement”, regardless of their efforts to join this club – No matter what the media establishment and GOP ruling class try to do, Gov. Palin will outsmart, outmaneuver & out energize American voters. She will win the primary and start the 2012 general election race with a floor of 47% support, equal to the vote total she collected in 2008. Obama will bleed massive numbers from the unemployed, Jews, Libs, Dems, Indies, Elderly, Blacks and Evangelical voters. His historic turnout among youth and minorities will never be repeated, no matter how much he plays the race card or class envy game.
    and, from a commenter at HotAir;
    Totally true, but why the sudden shift?

    The Indianola speech where she made crony capitalism the central piece of her platform. Following that there was a widely read article by Anand Giridhardas which has been tweeted to millions. The article postulated a new alignment of forces, basically giving many independents the assurance with Palin they won’t be boxed in the old GOP, red state vs blue state cultural wars. Incredibly, the Solyndra controversy broke out at the same time. Cumulatively, this made the independents swing to her en masse.

  18. @the other pete: well “pete” it seems someone is willing to pay you to sit and read what we say…so I guess what we say is important to your paymaster…

  19. Anyone else read Rex Murphy’s comment in the National Post? “The American media; failure’s maidservants”. This columnist is not normally in the exact same place as I am in people evaluating, but this time around his comment is right where I am.
    The name callers and other besmirchers I have met have never read any of Barak Obama’s or Sarah Palin’s writings.
    People who have read Ms. Palin’s books are always impressed with her ability to provide a concise examination of the issue she is discussing.
    My interpretation of the booksby Barack Obama, which apparently were co-authored, had the feel of the professional writer explaining the fine points to the less educated.
    Just quoting my own thoughts, not the pickup thinking frequently reiterated by the unaware and yet still vocal? (is it correct to use vocal in this instance when people are blaring out their ignorance?) Cheers;

  20. Herman cain and palin all the way or even perry and palin all the way , ron paul is very good but he has said some wierd stuff that is to out there for me i think he is a conspiracy theorist myself but i like him talking about retuning to the gold standard!!

  21. American media on candidates, Palin and otherwise:
    As a general rule take anything that is said by the media about a “republican”/”conservative” and discount the negative and inflate the positive about about a factor of 2 or 3. The inverse is true for democrats/liberals.
    It’s doesn’t matter what they are actually reporting on, the scandal du jour, the latest interview f-up and whatever facts you may think you know or not.
    It’s been my experience by applying that simple rule to the general gestalt impression you have of the candidate you have a pretty good measure of them.
    Oh, and any conservative/republican the media likes…ain’t a conservative or republican, or is being used as a battering ram to crash/shade out someone on his right and will soon be discarded.

  22. lib’s are smarter- You say Republicans want Sarah to stay out: So who are all those people in the polls supporting Sarah – Democrats and independents?

  23. I hear that Sarah thinks things go better coke…especially black guys. – Rove
    Rove – Sarah is running against the black guy who used coke. You need to read those news blurbs more carefully.

  24. The only credibility the media has destroyed is their own.
    Mrs. Palin was OVER qualified the minute she accepted the VP call from McCain. She OUT qualifies McCain (Senator) to her Governor. ( Senators talk, Governors DO).
    The vicious attacks are like water on a duck’s back. All conservatives who watched the play out of the 2008 campaign saw it clearly. Obama was protected and never vetted at all. Mrs. Palin’s credentials, admirable to any sane scenario in business or politics were consistently trashed.
    Her whole life and family and professional life was lied about by miscreants who are not worthy to shine her shoes…including the trolls spouting inanities and idiotic lies and personal attacks.
    We are all done with that. It is SO yesterday.
