It’s crap like this that’s making me lean toward voting Wildrose Alliance next election.
Another thing we need to defund: the Pembina Institute.
The PeeCees are Fat A*sed Liberals. Alberta has 60B in Total Public Debt. Plus since Klein slayed the deficit Alberta has posted around 50B in surplus funds. Old Money All Gone.. They funded this crap because they are LIBERALS….. It is time for Albertans to clean out the barn…..Take the manure out of the barn….
I agree i think it is time to start looking at the wild rose they are further right and do need some tweeking but the peee cee’s are really p!ssing me off right now.
How ever lyndsay did say they were going to look at defunding these types of thing’s.
I caught this segment on Adler and wow did he go after Blackett. Rightly so I might add and it’s nice to see a station actually ask politicians the tough questions and call them on their BS
Looking at defunding? Well, if you see a child choking the goose that lays the golden eggs, I suppose thinking of asking him to stop at some undefined time in the future is a step in the right direction. A better one is to swat the brat on the back of the head, and say in a loud voice “NO, BAD”.
Indians in helicopters and jet boats will save us from ourselves.
Useless politicians wasting our money on their useless processes.
Cut the size and funding of government in half.
Man oh man oh man. Now that’s how you go after pathetic politicians.
You taking notes there, Mr. Hudak?
Best thing is to take governments out of the arts funding altogether. Let the artsy-fartsy types beg for their money from the private sector where public approval or disapproval affects profit margins.
Artists should get no public money, if their art is good, it will sell, if it is bad it will sell only to a liberal using someone elses money. This parisite Suzuki, getting a quarter million to stab Alberta, and the wealth generating Oilsands business in the back should be just enough to stick RedEd back in the pigpen in Andrew where he belongs. This is douwnright embarrassing giving money to parisites to take down the host, are you people in Edmonton really this dumb?
RFB nails it. Go Wildrose.
Charles did an excellent job in exposing Blackett’s lack of competence in controling his department. It sounded like the bureaucrats run the department pretty much as they wish.
Great segment. I love it when something genuinely, eye-crossingly outrageous lights Charles up. He’s an eloquent, gracious, good-natured, and reasonable man, but when a particular story kinda autonomically cocks his brow, and makes him shift around in his chair and move his hands, he’s even better.
This is (slightly) OT, but Sun TV – the evening lineup with Lilley, Charles, Ezra, and now Michael Coren – has not only exceeded my expectations, it’s blown them out of the water. When I first heard about the possibility of Sun TV News airing I was hoping – and it felt like a pipe dream – that their on-air personalities would at least occasionally address the sort of issues — the CBC, free speech, public sector unions, etc., etc. — that Kate and other Canadian bloggers have been focusing on for years, but they’ve exceeded my expectations by many orders of magnitude. They’ve been pounding the ball upfield, night after night after night, and they’re just starting to get into their groove; all of the shows — and they all started strong — have noticeably improved in their very short time on air.
Hopefully everyone in Canada will have the ability – the choice – to get the channel at some point in the near future.
and boy, those eco-fascists/marxists sure know how to suck $$ from the government, don’t they? Money from those oilsands they hate so much, though, right? Hypocrites.
and we shouldn’t be funding “arts”. Period.
In all fairness to Mr. Blackett, he has been the one minister to actually say anything. (great interview though – I would love Charles to go after the premier like this) He’s the one who wanted to change the AHRC but dear leader, Ed, would have nothing to do with that when the election was over.
Mr.Blackett has always spoken his mind. Why he sticks with the PC’s is beyond me. Move to the WildRose – please! This province needs a gov’t willing to listen to ideas like his and then act.
A conservative pol who thinks merely questioning the process is enough. Typical.
He was voted in to -end- that “process” and to stop public funding of watermelon propaganda. Now he’s crying poor because he gets “heat”? Unacceptable.
I would love to hear Adler ask Mc Guinty some very tough questions- tough questions that none of the reporters dare ask.
Adler speaks highly about the oilsands then to have some fool say otherwise. A lot of easterners and central canadians find jobs at the oilsands; cut the oilsand jobs and we have a massive unemployment rate.
A conservative pol who thinks merely questioning the process is enough.

Indeed.
Blackett pretends the Alberta PCs haven’t been in power since 1971 and aren’t therefore the authors of every government process and program in Alberta today.
I’ve been getting e-mails asking for support for all the candidates for PC leadership and I won’t waste my time responding to any of those pols who are so hopeful that they will be the next Captain of the Titanic.
My wife and I are voting Wild Rose next election just as we did last election.
Love how he sloughed off responsibility to “leader and colleges”. Heh heh heh.
So who is responsible?
They better not push this guy to far he’ll rake them over the AHRC coals……….
We will also be voting Wildrose next election -for the first time.
Enough is enough.
Adler is good but in all fairness that clip where Blackett boldly refers to funding this sort of crap…$hit….makes me somewhat sympathetic to Blackett.
At a distance, it suggests that he should shift to the Wild Rose Alliance….he would be an asset.
For some reason, people in Alberta seem to have PC ingrained in them. They’re still thinking of good ole Ralph and whatnot.
Since Ralph left, the PC’s have been imploding in an extraordinarily quick fashion.
Wildrose is the way to go.
I should add to my above fairly harsh comment what I -do- want, not just complain.
It would be nice if the gentleman outlined, even in a general way, who’s @sses he’s kicking to get the situation handled. Its true that a minister can’t break contracts his ministry has made just because he doesn’t like the product. But this blather about blaming “the process”, saying his hands are tied etc, that’s just the same old crap we always get. I do not want to hear from a Conservative politician “my hands are tied”.
I want to hear “this is chair warmer who’s getting the hell fired for green lighting that idiot movie, this is the new rules I’m implementing to make sure it never happens again, and this is the five or six lawsuits my ministry is filing against Dr. Fruitfly for smearing the good name of Alberta.”
I’d settle for “I’m quitting and joining Wild Rose because the peckerheads upstairs from me won’t be serious about doing what’s right.”
I don’t vote conservative for “my hands are tied”. I can get buckets of that from Liberals.
Sometimes you have to stay in the government to make changes. Blackett seems to have adopted that pose. I’m sure he’ll use this fiasoco as an opportunity to readress the issue.
I agree with all here, government should stay out of funding the creative community. This just gives one more reason why.
Lindsay Blackett
flipped on the Alberta HRc’s, now has done the same for doling out money to folks who would blacken Albertas industries with tax payer monies.
This is why ED is dead & Wild Rose will bloom.
What an opportunist. No convictions, just excuses.
No accountability for tax dollars or his own power the he CAN use. The usual political eunech.
Showing his bare bottom to the World for a leader that has betrayed him & his Province . Alberta twice over. That we know about.
Minister Blackett like most of the PC party does the Sargeant Shultz “I know nothing” and the Alfred E Newman “What me worry” These people set rules and then appoint their friends to give our money away and then deny responsability. I wonder if we could trace the connections between politicians and the companies awarded (without tender) the contracts to build $14 billions worth of power lines what we would find??? HMMMM
