Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert
"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
BAHAHAHAHAHA
You’re not one of those right-wing Philistines who don’t believe in continental drift, are you?
Idiots can’t tell the difference between Tyre and Tripoli.
So much for relying on those with university degrees they should have stuck with google earth.
From the Halls of Montezuma,
To the shores of Tripoli;
There is also a Tripoli in Lebanon. They didn’t double check which one when using Google maps for the graphic.
“If Mohamad won’t come to the mountain”
uhm
“We’ve got journalists”?
Ah! I know what they did here. They typed “Tripoli,LB” into google, not “Tripoli, LY” .
ChrisinMB = smart
“Ah! I know what they did here. They typed “Tripoli,LB” into google, not “Tripoli, LY”
This that make them less stupid?
How about “DOES that make them less stupid?”
Previewing is always a good idea.
Maybe CNN is on a budget crunch and they just put new labels over the map cel from the Gaza floatilla story to run a map on the Lebanon story – one map two stories OOPs!
Naaaaa what am I thinking, They really are that ignorant.
I suspect the reason for this is that these “jornolists”, in awe of OBOZO, reside in his 57th state…and can speak Austrian.
No wonder they can’t find Gadhafi.
Did a double take on this one. Even if there is another Tripoli, the mistake should have been spotted immediately.
I blame GWB and/or Global Warming.
Funny and it looks good on them.
Since childhood I’ve been able to pick out Libya on a world map. Jeez, what kind of education do these bozos have?
It could be worse; there is a Tripoli in Greece.
They asked steve, who has a university education, where Tripoli is.
Lebanon also has a dictator called Gadhafi? Small world.
I remember watching CNN after the Queen Mother died. The feed at the bottom kept running “Queen Elizabeth I had died”.
Well, it makes sense, doesn’t it? Since her daughter was Queen Elizabeth II…
Nobody in these newsrooms seems to know basic stuff. Really basic stuff. Okay, we all have our idiot-spots; but the newsrooms never seem to run anything past anybody. It’s scarily incompetent.
(I also remember the Globe or the Post – not sure, sorry – running a piece in the weekend Deep Cultural Reflection Section in which a well known journalist referred to Neanderthal cave paintings, and mused on the significance thereof. As a failed Archaeologist, I can assure you…)
LOL
Tripoli Wisconsin is a much smaller town than wherever it is that CNN is currently looking, they should go there, it would be easier to find him in a small town no?
I can hardly wait to see where they place Syracuse, Athens, Troy or Memphis.
Well, at least they have libya on their map, not the part with tripoli, but still, it’s Libya.
Send in the marines!
Hey, at least it’s a Tripoli on the Mediterranean.
Okay, you’re right. This ranks up there on the stupidity scale. For god’s sake, it’s not like this Libya business is exactly breaking news anymore.
CNN and the rest would spend a week on this mistake if-(fill in the blank)-said it.
Watching CNN as the major news source is effective in reducing a persons I.Q. .
Just glad when the US Marines went from the Halls of Montezuma to the Shores of Tripoli they got the right friggin’ country!
CNN has become nothing but a joke for years.
Peter Arnett seen to that.
My ’77 Canadian Oxford School Atlas 4th Edition lists Tripoli as “Tarabulus”. Now just imagine when CBC privatizes and all those laid off join CNN…
I remember one of the CBC people said Istanbul was the capital of Turkey. That made me laugh. She was probably thinking, well it’s big, it’s the only city in Turkey I’ve heard of, so it must be the capital!
They say Gaddhaffi’s wife wears a Tripoli bra…
What if Fox did it…
I do recall about twenty years ago a map of Ukraine was shown (CTV I think), and they had teh Ukraine flag upside down. This one is much worse!
mediterranean sea, is that one of the GREAT lakes????
ROTFL
ON AIR CBC GOOFS
The Local CBC are alerting those in SASK about the Digital TV conversion Sept 1.. The young lady, twice today, said that it only affects the City residents and does not affect those in the Rural Areas (country). That is one tricky transmission pattern that ranks right up there with AGW….
Mike Harris’ fault, clearly.
Wow, but have no fear.
We have some very smart people, that are never more than 30 feet off target.
The old saying “can’t find her ass with both hands” kind of applies here.
“What if Fox did it”???
Well, This is not Fox, is it??
no wonder the colonel is AWOL, they’re 1,000 miles off target.
I noticed that Israel is not named on the map… What’s up with that?
Yeah, “What if Fox did it…” in the same vein as “What if Bush said it?”. ie: “57 States”, “corpse-man”, “if you can’t afford gas buy a new car”, etc
Let me fix that headline for you:
“Libya’s Wherabouts Unknown”
“I remember one of the CBC people said Istanbul was the capital of Turkey. That made me laugh. She was probably thinking, well it’s big, it’s the only city in Turkey I’ve heard of, so it must be the capital!”

Ha! The capital of Turkey is Ankara. I totally knew that two minutes ago.
From what I hear, the average Mercan isn’t very knowlegeable on world geography.
