  1. MY LETTER TO CTV.
    My husband and I have been wintering in Florida.
    We have been watching CTV’s accounts regarding the election in Canada.
    I can only say in the strongest terms possible.
    CTV is absolutely the worst along with CBC in fair and balanced reporting.
    The liberals are getting away with murder.
    While here in Florida we have made a decision.
    When we get back home at the end of April we will be getting the new Sun TV channel.
    You and the rest of your cronies have no one to blame but yourselves…we are fed up!

    Here, I’ll throw you a bone. I don’t want “objective” news reporting, because such a thing is a childish fantasy. I just want news outlets to be honest about who they’re in the tank for.

    15 is a good number – glad we didn’t get booted to the channel 95 stratosphere like some of the specialty spots.

  12. Abe, Shaw – on Vancouver Island – will carry SUN TV News free for one month, on Vancouver Island….channel 177
    Then, they said that after May 17th, it may move to another channel. but there will be notice.
    Hopefully, it will actually work closer to the start time of 4:30 PM Eastern

  13. I suspect that the Libs and NDP will use Sun as bogyman of USA style conservative thought ala Fox News. The content and how it is presented will have a big impact on this election. I will be watching on Shaw Direct #517 with some concern but mostly anticipation.

    We got a call from Telus a few weeks back flogging their TV service. I told them that if they announced they were carrying Sun before today, we’d move from Shaw. They didn’t so we didn’t.

    I hesitate to cast you as a “troll”, since there is a certain quality and rationality to many of your posts. However..
    Do you deny that CBC/CTV/Global (the “LSM”) have a small-l liberal bias? Are you incapable of understanding how this infuriates any person who’s even slightly right of centre? Here’s just a single example – time and again (and decades after the fact), the LSM refer to Mike Harris’s “slashing of health care funding”. Anyone with a modicum of computer skill can look it up – health care spending rose every single year under the Harris government. How is that slashing? Yet this is repeated over and over, and no one ever thinks to question it. So, yes, I would think there’s a large segment of Canadians who would appreciate some unbiased reporting.
    Now, I have recently taken a new job that has had me spending 3 of every 4 weeks in the US. I have had the opportunity to watch Fox News/Business News, and I have to say, with the exception of Neil Cavuto, I’m not impressed. They seem to bleat one side of the story just as much as MSNBC or CNBC bleats the other. But that is Fox in the US of A.
    Sun Media has yet to do a single broadcast, and you are already dismissing them as simply a Fox clone. Don’t you believe in at least giving them a single day to substantiate your theory before you paint Sun Media and all those who are interested in it as delivering “biased” news? Or are you in the “my mind’s made up, don’t confuse me with the facts” camp?
    Personally, I think Ezra Levant is a much more intelligent and thoughtful person than, say, Glenn Beck (ya, he’s leaving but he was big on Fox for a while). Who does Fox have to match up against a Neelam Verma? I think Pat Bolland is a bit of blowhard, but he’s not a complete idiot, and doesn’t seem to have an ideological axe to grind.
    So, let me suggest you actually watch Sun News for a week before leaping to conclusions. While you do, you might want to refer to this month’s Atlantic, where James Fallows has a thoughtful article on social media, the splintering of national news, and how he’s come to appreciate them.

    One of your buddies here at SDA this AM thought he was smart by pointing out that Warren K had a nasty editorial in today’s SUN paper in which I replied: “It’s called balancing editorial comment”…
    I bet you SUN NEWS will be more balanced than any of the others: CBC, CTV or Global.
    For those in Ontario that already had a station called SUN TV, check it out, it might be your temporary station like here in London on cable 59.
    All they have right now is a countdown clock on the screen till 5 pm.

    Specifically, SUN NEWS needs lots of viewers before may 2nd. So I count on Peter Mansbridge and Loyd Robertson to both hiss and piss about it tonight…If they are smart, they won’t.

    It is about time a TV station catered to the politically incorrect crowd. I am tired of listening to endless lessons on the joys of sustainability, white guilt, multiculturalism, social responsibility, etc.
    Progressives should remember the advice they gave social conservatives who complained about “immoral” TV programming – if you don’t like it, don’t watch it.

    Glenn Beck himself has probably run his course. His schtick was fine at the time, but really…he’s not that great and there’s not much left for him to do with it.

  26. Bah. Telus Optik TV doesn’t have it available in my area – Telus Satellite TV does, however. Not like I really want to change over (switched from Shaw in October of last year).
    No word (at least from the CSR) when they’ll be carrying it, either. Guess I’ll have to content myself with streaming (if any).

I am looking forward to hearing what Sun has to offer because I am tired of a media biased towards the left.

    He had freedom at FOX but it was limited…you might be right but I suspect it might be because he has no more room to move; explaining his wish for an independent network of his own.
    FOX has it’s limitations. Bill O’Reilley is a prime example:
    He answered an emailer that asked why Obama was using a Connecticut SS number when he never lived there and that the number was issued when he was still in Hawaii: O’reilley falsely said that it’s because his father lived in Connecticut and that sometimes their kids get numbers that way…Totally untrue that the dad lived in CT.
    FOX has scrubbed all their site about that exchange the next day.
    FOX news is part of the ‘establishment’.

    The Sun channel is a good old-fashioned FREE over the air channel broadcasting from Toronto. UHF channel 45. No need to submit to the cable monopolies.

    I don’t have a Facebook account, and don’t want one. Yet Sun seems to be tied at the navel with that stupid service for the only commenting “id”.
    if someone with a Facebook account would like to add Eastlink=610 at the Sun website link given in this post, I’d appreciate it. Thanks.
    And, if you want to add the Sun should consider expanding available logins to e-mail address, or Google, etc., it would also be appreciated.

  38. bb gun: If you bothered to do some research, you would know that Beck’s TV contract with Fox expires in December of this year. Instead of continuing with the TV Show, his company Mercury Radio Arts will be developing television projects for Fox News and content for Fox News’ other platforms. Sounds like a win win to me as he’ll now get complete creative control over his content.
    Davenport: I have no problems if Sun News has a conservative bias. I’m tired of being personally insulted for my political views and treated like a child by the other News Networks and their “reporters”. And if Sun News does have a conservative bias, at least it will balance out all of the liberal spun news fed to us by the other networks.

    Davenport why is it that you object to people presenting their views such as Sun News Network.
    Does it fundamentally bother you that people don’t always share your deeply held views?
    Now we can’t have the “Ezralites” from the Levant actually having their say because certain quarters prefer censorship as opposed to the Charter guarantee of freedom of speech unfettered by spin controllers.

    You are probably too young and/or ignorant to know of “RADIO FREE EUROPE”….
    The Bolsheviks just hated that too. Behind the Iron Curtain it was illegal to have a radio receiver with a tuner. Radios could only receive on station. Some hotel rooms featured 2 or more radios(the better ones) one for each approved station.
