  1. Are we to be so moved by Ignatieff’s immigrant family non-story that we forget REAL immigrants working three jobs just to get ahead and wouldn’t vote for the Liberals? I suppose the little people just aren’t little enough when compared to a count.

  2. He thinks they where only poor because he can’t “Count”.
    (25,000 pounds = $2,000,000 in today’s dollars)

  3. Maybe Iggy had a ghost writer author his books, since the Iggster is having such a hard time remembering what was in his books, and how he grew up, how wealthy papa was when he left the old country, you know, minor details like that…

  4. The issue is not that Michael Ignatieff’s family are aristocrats; that’s not his fault.
The issue is Michael Ignatieff’s pretense/lie that his family members are not aristocratic, that they came to Canada with nothing, when in fact, they had today’s equivalent of $2,000,000 in the bank — not your typical immigrant experience, which he’s trying to claim.
The other issue is his attempt to make the CPC out to be mean, cruel, and unprincipled for “attacking” his family. Were they supposed to remain silent and acquiesce to Count Michael’s mendacity?
He brought it up — and, now, he doth protest too much when he’s called on his phony story.

  5. I read about this before from other sources but I never heard it articulated in such a blunt fashion on television via (in this case) Michael Coren. You can Count on me to spread the good news!

  6. the poor immigrant count didn’t even have a knife and fork to eat his hot dogs with
have to wonder how much Iggster charges to help Harper by telling these lies

  7. This whole thing on Iggy gets funnier by the minute. I’m told we can now buy stick on Iggy eyebrows.
I’m thinking about morphing Count Dracula teeth
to go with them. One batty Count is as good as another!

  8. Brian M,
Michael Coren comes from the same part of London as I do (don’t Count that, my familly did) we have the same charmfull bluntness. And we support The Spurs!!

  9. Reason #12 why party politics are a problem. Decent people will not be voted in as a result of this guy.

  10. A problem I have with the Ignatief history is how a railroad track layer married into the Massey family. I’m pretty sure that a railroad man, unless he was the railroad owner, wouldn’t be in the same social circle as the Masseys and Grants. It would be interesting to read George’s biography to see how he met his wife.

  11. “Ignatieffs,The Two Million Dollar Boat People”, a work of fiction by the most recent delusional.

  12. Fer cryin’ out loud.. it’s Cound IGGULA ok? The best political nickname to emerge in decades!

  13. For at least 2 days CTV has scrolled at the bottom of the sceen:
“Ignatief is proud of his family ties to Russian aristocracy, why is this being used against him?”
Michael Coren answered that, but I doubt CTV was really looking for the answer.

  14. batb nails it @ 8:16. Mr. Iffy got caught in his own fabrication. At least they had shoes, not like some I know.

  15. Last week Ezra Levant easily pointed out that all of the facts the refute Mr. Ignatieff’s penniless immigrant story can be found in a book on his family that Mr. Ignatieff wrote.
    Michael Ignatieff has Swift-boated Himself.

  16. Well, nice to know I was wrong about Iggy looking like an undertaker…. much better to be a Count..with cape and all… surely the conservatives can make hay with THAT. … but they won’t..they are too nice.
If this was Sarah Palin can you imagine what the loony left in the states would DO with this kind of information?!

  17. Okay, I’m an immigrant and my family came to Canada, five of us, with 300 pounds sterling. It took four years for my parents to buy their first house and nine for my father to own the first brand new car he ever bought. All three of we offspring have been successful are financially comfortable and voting Conservative.
We do not share Ignatieff’s “immigrant experience” – oh yes, his Daddy laying tracks was a summer job! Mine was pruning Christmas trees but I don’t put that on my resume.

  18. like Aviator, my family immigrated to Canada shortly after the second world war.
We landed by boat in New York (Cunard ship Georgic) and flew to Toronto in what was those days Malton Ont.
My parents had four kids all aged six and under (me,I was the youngest)and less than Two Hundred dollars with which to start a new life.
Yes my dad had a trade and yes we stayed with immigrant friends for a few days, who came over the year before us.
The early years were hard(no welfare nor gov’t aid in those days)…my dad was proud and never would have gone there anyways.
We lived in a succesion of flats over storefronts for some years in Toronto West End,(I can still smell Canada Packers to this day) and my parents saved, saved, saved while my dad went to night school; until my folks had that downpayment for a house in Richmond Hill(the sticks back then)
Hey my folks did well even if they did live on onions for awhile…and we grew up as responsible people with a good value system.
    End of happy story.
    NOW
How dare you Mr Ignatieff for foisting your f##king b#llsh@t hard luck story on people about the hard life your family persevered.
    Your book,your lie,your feigned indignation.
You sir are nothing more than a vaccous pr#ck and the sooner you are gone the better for all of us.
Go on micheal p#ss-off.You bother me.

  19. this is the Count’s retirement plan. Cause an election , take the pension and retire to Harvard. he probably already has arrangements.
at a half a billion dollar cost to the Canadian taxpayer

  20. Can you imagine the MSM outrage if the CPC placed a candidate for PM before the Canadian electorate with a similar CV to that of Mr. Ignatieff. He would have been booed off the stage long ago.

  21. The Liberals, lie, cheat and steal as a matter of course. What does Iggy need to fear?
Most of Canada has forgotten why they tarred and feathered them in the last election already. His votes are secured by the “not so minorities” and free handout vote in this country.
Like Bagdad Bob his overt BS is seen as a strategic masterpiece by the left.
Just ask Alex, BJT, new, davenport…….they’ll not tell you it’s true.

  22. batb hits the ball out of the park. This is what Coren is saying.
Why is it nobody in the major media will call Iggy on these facts? Coren is great but his audience is hardly national, which is too bad.

  23. “Maybe Iggy had a ghost writer author his books…”
    DanBC
You mean just like his Harvard friend Barry Soetoro for who now there is now solid evidence that both his books were written by no other than Bill Ayers; the still unrepentant 60’s terrorist.
The Count is a plant sent by the globalists…I don’t trust him with our sovereignty at all.
Iggy would be our Barry Soetoro if elected;IMO.
BTW: Donald Trump has taken on the mission that could finally expose the poser in chief…First the birth certificate then maybe to finish him off, the fake social security numbers…Very interesting times ahead.

  24. What I find troubling about this is the accusations that the Count’s familly is getting trashed.
Perhaps, but it is the Count himself, who has disgraced his own family. By all reports, his parents/grandparents were well respected….would they be proud of this?…I sincerely doubt it.
Yeah, he is in the process of getting “swift-boated” but like John Kerry, he is the instigator.
We had a saying back in the day:
IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHOSE OX IS GETTING GORED.
The Counts’ supporters, like Kerry’s, consider the “swift-boating” as the offence…not the lies etc their little god. Note the open hostility by the dweb in the white shirt, in the clip.
In the case of the LIBRANOs….remember they were the promoters of the baseless, “hidden agenda” ploy…as well as ADSCAM.
It is ironic that the LIBRANOs are those with the hidden agenda…now exposed…THE COALITION.

  25. “BTW: Donald Trump has taken on the mission that could finally expose the poser in chief…First the birth certificate then maybe to finish him off, the fake social security numbers…Very interesting times ahead.
Posted by: Right Honourable Terry Tory at March 29, 2011 8:05 AM”
I credit Donald Trump for having the GUTS to question and demand proof. Most politicians, including McCain, pussyfoot around, lest anything controversial stick to them.

  26. “BTW, is “laying track in British Columbia” a sexual euphemism?”
    Yes.
I used to hear CN track maintenance workers use the reference after a night with a hottie they’d picked up at a bar.
In Manitoba, we sometimes called it “laying pipe”,from back in the 60’s.
