If a caribou needs to be sacrificed for the sake of energy independence, I say, “Mr. Caribou, maybe you need to take one for the team.”
If a caribou needs to be sacrificed for the sake of energy independence, I say, “Mr. Caribou, maybe you need to take one for the team.”
That was good strategy on Palin’s part. When I watched the “Alaska” series, one of the first things that occurred to me was how barren and desolate that country is,and I thought,”why is anybody so concerned about drilling for oil in this bloody wilderness”, just as Palin had intended.
Yeah,Palin’s stupid all right.
If a wolf takes down a caribou, is it a part of Gaia’s mystical plan?
Not that any leftist urbanites could stomach that but still…
Attacking a Panasonic with a butter knife…tee!
The media will ignore her for the month of February?
This is gonna be good.
Does that mean they will actually report, and we decide?
As Monty Burns of the Simpsons said: “Oooh, so Mother Nature needs a favour now? Well maybe she should have thought of that when she was besetting us with droughts and floods and poison monkeys! Nature started the fight for survival, and now she wants to quit because she’s losing? Well I say, hard cheese.”
It is a wonder why we miss the good stories of responsible people who carry Guns…. The guy who was buying smokes in the drug store when the Tucson Gunman opened Fire WAS ARMED.. He did not use his weapon in physically subduing the Crazy.. That is how a responsible person is expected to behave, but the MSM ignores that fact
http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/node/7598
This is why we need the NRA to teach & train all Gun owners the responsibility of proper firearms ownership… The Scary PLL are the progressives/ Marxists who Know nothing of any responsibility, much less Guns…
Palin’s right about drilling, but ‘energy independence’ is stupid. The futile pursuit of this goal has cost a whole lot of money for America with no benefit.
My favourite tactic when I encounter a “gun-grabber” (usually a woman thanks to that spinning of Canada’s first jihad attack into a gender issue)….
I simply ask their opinion….quietly and respectfully….
“How is a woman raped and murdered, morally superior to the gal standing over a dead rapist with a smoking gun?”
Even though they instantly express their opinions on my sanity, intelligence, edujamacashon or lack thereof, chauvanism, racism…to continue into sexual preferences, dress, personal hygene….using unladylike words………they (and everyone in earshot) know I have made my point.
Don’t expect to influence these individuals with logic, statistics, or facts…..they are either psychotic or have a leftist political vested interest to maintain.
They are fence-post LIBERALs—-they would vote for a fence post if it had a Liberal bumper sticker on it.
I really feel sorry for the Gifford gal….consider the amount of anti-gun, anti-TEA party, anti-Palin psychological programming/conditioning/torture we know she is already being programmed with.
libertariansaresmarter, we’ll have to debate that sometime. There is no shortage of energy for N. America or for the world in general. The problems are entirely political. N. America, both on land and offshore, is awash in energy. Oil, natural gas, coal. (BTW, have you heard of the Bakken Formation?) We could be energy-independent but for two things:
1. the machinations of the extreme left eco-warriors and the Democratic Party, to whom they are an important source of money and votes;
2. the machinations of the Saudis and their very powerful bought-and-paid-for lobby in Washington.
The goal of the first is the de-industrialization of North America, leaving us with solar panels, wind towers and unicorn farts to run what’s left of our society. The goal of the second group is to keep the US and the West in general hooked on Middle East oil.
Energy independence is not a stupid idea.
What IS a stupid idea is the thought line that it can be achieved via pie in the sky tech that is “just around the corner”. Solar, wind geothermal etc are just ways for the eco freaks to justify their existance.
Given the huge tracts off of both ocean coasts in the US that have never been properly explored, plus all the land closed off from exploration, there is a real possibilty of approaching energy independence in the US.
The McKenzie Valley pipeline was delayed almost 35 years because of the ill-considered Berger inquiry. Millions & millions of dollars income that could have flowed to the native populations along the route were sacrificed because some people said they were worried that caribou herds wouldn’t cross or go under a pipeline.
Now the pipeline has the go – ahead but no government funding & recent changes to technology have opened up vast natural gas fields all over North America. An opportunity for wealth creation particularly in the North has probably been lost. Good work tree huggers!
Even if America were to open up its energy resources as it should, ‘energy independence’ still wouldn’t make sense. It would massively upend US energy infrastructure at government behest so that other oil consumers (ex China) would get oil for less money. There is nothing wrong with America importing ‘energy’. It’s called trade.
Who says that it has to be at the government’s behest?
All the government has to do is take the shackles off the industry. I have zero doubt that given the option the multi-nationals would willing pick the coast off of North Carolina over Sudan, North Dakota over Iraq.
And you are right, there is nothing wrong with importing oil, but why on earth would you if you did not have to? It would be like Canada importing lumber.
I believe the words ‘none in the United States.’ appears.

What Alaska needs is their very own October Crisis. Then while everyone is distracted, start laying pipe.
That’s how Bourassa did it. Mr. Caribou took one for the team then, he’ll do it again.
Energy independence is a worthwhile goal and should be attempted. Sarah Palin is utterly correct in demanding it. If the leftists enjoy taking “dirty oil” from some of the world’s most corrupt nations, they are hardly in any position to criticise her. Now if only they had the smarts to see that…
Sarah Palin, as usual, knocked the ball out of the park. The leftist comments under the article were absolutely disgusting; no substance, just bitter personal attacks. They want to preach civility – maybe there should be a civility test before being allowed to vote. That, at least, would remove their ilk from the corridors of power. No doubt our resident trolls will claim that I am being offensive to their thin skins. Tough, they can hand out vicious slander but can’t take criticism.
So true Aviator. Sarah Palin signed the pipeline deal with Foothills Pipeline (owners of the corridor) before she ran for VP. It is obambi and his pals who are stopping the drilling.
Caribou love pipelines – they hang around them for shelter from the wind. Hunters, who have the right to hunt via hunting and gathering rights are very greedy. Driving up the Dempster in Sept, a person will see dead caribou up and down the road, most of them without heads but not always. A terrible waste, since Caribou is very good eating.
The writer of this spiel is very nasty, I could feel my blood beginning to boil – does that idiot wear shoes, eat steak, hamburgers?
Dear pretend libertarian, has it not occurred to you that the middle east may soon refuse to ship oil to the States? Like, this year?
The USA could end up in a brand new Egyptian/Israeli war if certain factions win this revolution down there. Wouldn’t it be nice to have some oil close to coming on line if that happened?
Do you goofs not think ahead, or WTF?
