  1. Dave @ 10:32am – Thank you for sharing that story. Somehow it makes me feel … not completely alone!
I’ve said for some time now that Leftism is fairly similar to a religion in its zealotry. Facts that dispute or even destroy the belief system of Leftism are impervious into the minds of its true believers. Their beliefs get reinvigorated & recharged most every day when they see stories in print or on TV, spun by the high priests & priestesses of the liberal mainstream media. It’s a beautiful con job, if it wasn’t so serious & destructive.

  2. A letter to the Editor from Robert Johnston of Ottawa:
“Mark Bonokoski expresses my sentiments to a ‘T’ and the reason why I quit watching this Liberal talk show many years ago. I was under the impression the CBC was the channel expressing the most bias. Not so, if there were awards for supporting roles for a political party, Craig Oliver, Jane Taber, Jim Travers and Bob Fife would be the runaway winners. I’ve been waiting for a columnist to call CTV out. Well, it’s happened. I’m a happy man and am now patiently waiting for Sun News to come on line so viewers will have a choice.”

Here’s a good question, does anyone have any ideas what the excuse/reason the Canadian MSM will give for the what I predict will be FOXNews like success?
My guess is that it’s because we’re stupid and don’t know any better and thus choose the wrong channel.

  4. the msm tried their damnest to insight a riot or assault against the upcoming SunTV. This with their constant bombardments of propoganda whipping up a firestorm of anger from John Q Public anything they could do to stop the license issuing.
    This all on a assumption,
Kinda like the opposition or more the NDP saying they are going to vote against the budget before reading it, Because its from the Conservative’s.
So the point iam getting to now that this has been granted wait for the furor to continue when the channel goes to air the daily assault will be relentless, See we told you so a Fox News North run by Knuckledragging Neocons.
This has been the MSM in Canada’s worse fear an actual TV channel of a Conservative nature, one with an opinion And not one like the constant Liberal slanted Op/Ed.in the daily rags.
And was there not just a recent article on this all the Hupelaw for nawght.

  5. The only signal going into my TV is from my DVD. I choose what I want on and as a bonus I’m not funding this nonsense with a payment to cable or satellite provider! The “news” on most of these channels are opinion pieces that most definitely have a strong list to port…

  6. When Sun News TV hits the air, no longer will Fife, Taber, Travers, etc. be able to control the message and what are and are not allowed to be the talking points — including when they’re the subject of criticism.
The dilemma they’ll face is to address the criticism, in which case they will have to give context to QP’s viewers as to what they’re under fire for, or they can choose to ignore the commentary from Sun News TV, in which case Canadians will see that they’re, in fact, do engage in selective criticism.
In either event, they lose. One of the reasons they’re so terrified of Sun News TV.
    Can’t wait!

  7. Alfred E. Newman — Oliver etc. would have been talking about the second prorogation (2010), rather than the one in 2008, but the explanation of avoiding “afghan detainee” has never made much sense, as Canadians were not particularly engaged with this issue. My own view is the the excessive anger around this is had mainly to do with a residual anger about the first prorogation. Coalition supporters were still really mad and used this as an opportunity to vent their anger. There just was not that much at stake when Harper prorogued the second time.

  8. Taber and Owliver, often stay awake at night. They wonder when the audience will stop laughing at them.
    Answer? Not in their lifetimes.

  9. My wife stopped her subscription to the G&M two months ago and we haven’t noticed its absence.
It bears repeating about the long census – it is irrelevant. The Federal Gov’t is insatiably curious about us,
and they don’t wait ten years to satisfy their curiosity. They employ market researchers, who know how to conduct surveys; the long-form census is not professional in this regard.
And, yes, the market research firms come in two flavours: those who very quietly tell government what reality is,
so far as they can determine it; and those market research firms who very loudly tell gov’t what gov’t wants us to think is reality.
The media are of course well aware of this; they are the platform for the second kind of market research.
