  1. That was fabulous Kate. Merry Christmas to you and yours and to all SDA readers and commentators. God Bless you one and all.

  2. Wonderful find Kate. Thanks
A very merry Christmas to you and a heartfelt thank you for all you work on the blog this year.
Special accolades to the guest elves posters and commentator’s too.
    Take care,all of you.

  3. Thank you Kate. My wife and I actually attended one of TSO’s concerts at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa this past Wednesday. They played this piece only it was a lot more dramatic with huge screen visuals and laser lights. Other numbers included pyrotechnics. What a high energy show! TSO delivers enormous entertainment value.

  4. Merry Christmas Kate, Христос Народився. To all the folks at SDA, my heartiest wishes for and memories of Good Tidings of Comfort and Joy to you & yours. A quick reminder, should you find it useful for your caroling: here’s a link to my collection of lyrics for 16 Christmas Carols (sacred & secular), formatted for printing. And while I’m here, should you be looking for some easy viewing over the holidays, I have added to The Sagacious Iconoclast‘s Sherlock Holmes page 21 episodes from the delightful Sheldon Reynolds productions starring Ronald Howard as Mr. Holmes and H. Marion Crawford as Dr. Watson, ca.1955.

  5. A Blessed and Joyful Christmas-tide to Kate, Lance, EBD, Vitruvius, all the guest bloggers, and everyone here at SDA!! (‘Good to see you back, Vit!)
For unto us a child is born
    To save the world …
    To save me.

  6. speaking of things christmasy, from the today in history file:
    Dec 25 272
First official public celebration of Dies Natalis Invicti Solis, a pagan Roman holiday that was later co-opted by Christians to celebrate the birth of their favorite Jew. Turning the holiday into “Christmas” (in 336 AD) was part of a pattern of the church celebrating various pagan festivals and feast days.

  7. Merry Christmas, Kate, and everyone here at SDA. Thanks so much for the hard work you put into this blog to keep us informed and amused.
Wishing you all the best for 2011 too!

  8. I’ll join in on the well wishing with a heart felt thanks for the TSO piece and a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year to all who make up SDA. It rocks!!!

  9. Merry Christmas Kate and all the helper elves at this site. May this holiday season bring you peace and joy.

  10. The Queen gave her Christmas message 2010 – I was about to turn the TV off, but thought I would listen. It was brilliant, and you didn’t have to look to hard through the subtexts to see what she was really saying, and the issues to which she was speaking.
    Can’t find a video to post of it, sorry . . . . .

  11. Yes, Eric, I agree. I was very proud of “our gracious queen” for standing up boldly for Christianity. (If the West completely turns its back on the very bedrock of who we are, there are others who are more than willing to fill the gap. Then, “woe are we, for we’ll be undone”.)

  12. Merry Christmas, Kate, contributors, ilk and trolls!
Jesus is the reason for the season!!!
We celebrate Him born a babe, crucified and raised from the dead, seated at the right hand with the Father interceding for us!
Bless His holy Name, King of kings and Lord of lords!!!

  13. Thanks Vit, sorry for my sloth – I should have thought BBC.
Merry Christmas all, or, as I accidentally said to a pastor last year on one of my (too infrequent) church visitations, “Happy Holidays”.
    Sheesh, I’ve been brainwashed!

  14. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Kate and to all posting here, especially to those helping Kate when she takes a break and EBD and Vitruvius for their music and words of wisdom.

  15. Jesus is the reason for the season!!!
The only reason. What better way to make believers of pagans than to coincide with their high days? Just as Jonah did when he arrived in a fish to a people who worshipped a fish god.
We celebrate Him born a babe, crucified and raised from the dead, seated at the right hand with the Father interceding for us!
Actually, this is when He was conceived, when He truely began to dwell with man. All proven in scripture… The Course of Abia

  16. Merry Christmas Kate, and to the posters at SDA. May the new year bring Free Speech back to the unwashed masses, oh world peace of course.

  17. Thanks for the video as I now try to get into a Christmas mood. Kind of hard when it’s sunny and warm outside and almost all the snow has melted. One good thing about Christmas is that there’s lots of food everywhere around the hospital and can just graze as go from ward to ward.
Christmas actually occurs on 7-January and a true conservative would celebrate it then instead of using this new-fangled calendar;-)
So have a great Christmas whenever you chose to celebrate it.

  18. I guess it’s the season….
Got a surprise Christmas Eve, an e-mail from an absent comrade …..who had got my e-mail from the extended “old-boy” net.
He reminded me of a christmas we shared a long time ago and far far away…..
At that time we could only celebrate that at least we were not cold like our forebears at Bastogne.
We had had a fairly quiet day, only a coupla of mortars, no patrols, a dry bunker, C-rats, and smokes…..life was good……
