Not having been a hockey fan since about 12 (6 teams!), I feel like a new immigrant. Have zero knowledge of Cherry but am fascinated at his cult status.

Like $ FNA gord, I could barely hear either Mayor Ford or Don Cherry. I guess CTV doesn’t want TO residents to hear what our new mayor wants to say. CTV news tonight also forgot to mention that the woman whose 100-year-old tree was felled by city workers against her wishes, and then was charged $5000 by the city and hasn’t been able to get any reaction to her complaints about it under Moro … er, Mayor Miller, was last week sent an apology by Mayor Ford and a cheque for $5000.
Those a**holes sitting beside Don Cherry were talking for the first minute of his speech, and only seemed to pay attention when he said that he was being “ripped to shreds by the left-wing, pinko newspapers out there.” That seemed to get their attention. (Don Cherry also pointed out that the media ridicules him for going to church.)
I would have been at City Hall to welcome Rob Ford in as mayor, except that I was working.

I love Don, it’s just too bad he couldn’t articulate the depth of the issue. The issue being that we had a prejudicial media in GTA that left the responsible bounds of the free press to just report on the election and abused their public privilege to actively take part in the election campaign. Primarily, the Ford bashing and Smitherman pimping we were deluged with for a month.
WE saw something similar in the US during the Obama election. What can we expect from media partisans in the next general election?
Why oh why do these pandering media turds have any street cred at all? They’ll jail me for putting an private ad in the paper expressing my opinion about the candidates but these journos can churn out the worst type of biased garbage with impugnity.
Kate, if the meteor doesn’t hit soon I think we should help the extinction along with citizen lawsuits of partisan media messaging during elections. If it’s off limits for private individuals it’s sure as hell off limits for private sector media.

Just a continuation from yesterday — playing up Fantino’s “Hitler” comment while having whitewashed the stories of 2 Liberal candidates who equated Harper with Hitler in the last election.
I wonder if history was reversed and this were two years ago with Fantino being the Tory candidate for Vaughn in the 2008 election and he had made the remarks then that he did yesterday, if the MSM would take a pass on that story too. Hmmm.
Guess it depends on what party the person’s affiliated with that determines if a report is filed. A Conservative MP should take a trip to Montreal, rent a car, get into an incident where a breath sample is required and refuse to give one…
