46 Replies to “The Hunt For Julian Assange Is In The Very Best Of Hands”

  1. I must admit that just at this moment I cannot decide for certain whether I am positive or negative on this Assange fellow.
To some degree the leaks reveal that the elites in government are in fact pretty incompetent. This is a good thing to reveal. He also said Hillary Clinton should resign – well what’s not to like about that.
On the other hand, he chose some of the worst news outlets to deliver the goods.
So I’m just not sure what to think.

  2. The revelations about the Saudis and Bahrain are worth knowing, too. Israel has been blamed for pressuring the USA to go after Iran, yet according to what we’ve heard so far, the impetus has been coming from the Arab states.

  3. “And somehow Interpol does not have access to the Internet and is unable to pull an image of the wanted criminal.”
There were two images of Bill Clinton on that website, though. Will they do?

  4. All this is really no surprise….
Some of us considered the US foolish by not understanding the situation….now we now they do know the situation but their actions are foolish.
Assange has gone to ground but if he or his goes online the hounds are out.
Iran has made so many declarations which point everywhere….the Isreali’s and Saudi’s could clandestinely unite and bomb Iran back to the Old Stone Age.
The Iranians have not yet figured out that threatening invites attack….despite having a front row seat while a text-book example was made of Sadam…..
Obama and his surrender monkeys have little influence on these 2 players.

  5. The real shocker in all this…
Thousands of wikileaks so far and NOT one tidbit for the 9/11 truthers to sink their teeth into.!
    Hmmm.

  6. Rumour has it he’s gone to ground in the safest place in the world: a United Church basement in Taliban Jack’s riding.

  7. I like others am having a quandry on whether this sissy is such a threat for releasing info that is common dog knowledge akin to the metaphor of a 900 lbs gorilla in the corner?
Yes the info was leaked, yes it was kept confidential, but like the line out of “A Few Good Men” there are somethings people like ot live in denial about. Like for example that the left is tolerant, or that if we just leave those terrorists alone they will leave us alone, or that all the worlds problems can be blamed on western culture and the Judeo-Christian religions, and that the main stream media always gets the story right by golly.
The biggest laugh about this story of a non-story is that the nancy-boy that released this is obviously doing so without consideration about what it is he actually releasing, and he is only doing it to get attention (a kindred spirit of Jack Layton or Mark Holland perhaps?).
Its all about him after all.
In the end the only achievement he will obtain is a 1 minute blurb on the year end media review, and incarceration in some hell hole that should be reserved for such notaries as Omar Khadr.

  8. Interpol does not have access to the internet? You’re kidding, right?
All they have to do is contact Duhwayne Dinked-and-felt-her. He can show them how to get on the interweb.

  9. Rumour has it he’s gone to ground in the safest place in the world: a United Church basement in Taliban Jack’s riding.
Caledonia would be pretty safe if Six Nations were to give Assange sanctuary.

  10. So how exactly does Mr. Assange manage to move around the world in this post 911 DHS guaranteed security screening?
Does he show up at various airports in disguise worthy of the cloak and dagger crowd and present what must be one of twenty or so passports? Is he a sort of Jason Bourne for the squishy left?

  11. I am glad Assange is pursued for his rape case in Sweden. But I am not convinced he is guilty, so we’ll have to wait and see.
That Interpol does not have access to a photo of Assange (if accurate) is really not that surprising. UN, big government, power hungry politicians… the all seem to be totally incompetent and deserve to be exposed.
    (Hence my defense of Wikileaks.)

  12. He’s hiding out with Bin laden. Or where ever it is Ex-CIA assets who were made patsies go when they are expended for political gain.

  13. A hacker named “Jester” did a DoS attack on the Wikileaks servers the day the leak was to occur taking out the server (sadly, it was just released on a different server).
Next time you hear someone say that illegals are doing the jobs Americans won’t do you can put it into perspective… At least in terms of the American government. “Jester” is most likely American. He is certainly illegal from a certain point of view!
    http://news.discovery.com/tech/hacker-claims-credit-for-wikileaks-takedown.html
ps as for interpol, it’s run by the eurotrash. They only catch people trying to express their opinions in ways the elites disagree with or people avoiding high taxes.

  14. I kind of think like TJ. The earlier Wikileaks exposed many agents in Pakistan and Afghanistan working with NATO to physical harm. The current leaks, to this point anyhow, just seem to be causing a few diplomatic embarrassments.
Assange’s choice of media such as the NYT to publish the leaks gives this affair a distinct leftist flavour. Remember, the NYT did not publish the Climate-gate emails because they were “stolen”. Double standard here?

  15. Perhaps we should consider that the true culprit(s) in this are those that leaked the sensitive information to Wiki. This doesn’t absolve Assange for his recklessness, and it likely makes him an enemy of the USA and it’s allies. As far as motive goes, this guy is clearly a ‘me’ type of guy. Releasing these documents hurts the Progressive narrative, so this whole ordeal is clearly about ‘me'(Assange). Unless of course, he is so anti-American that he truly believes that whatever is in those documents, good or bad, it must be bad.

  16. So how exactly does Mr. Assange manage to move around the world in this post 911 DHS guaranteed security screening?
    Private transport.
    Not everybody flys commercial.

  17. I would not want to be this middle aged kid. The next target is supposed to be a major US bank and then Russia. Now that his sense of security is high because the US did not respond he is going to try harder to attain annihilation.

  18. No one seems to know where Assange is? Maybe he has already pissed off the wrong people. That would not be Obama.

  19. “Caledonia would be pretty safe if Six Nations were to give Assange sanctuary.”
Oz, that is definitely more true than funny!

  20. I don’t think it’s about the messages and what they contain, as much as it is about what is stamped “FOR YOUR EYES ONLY.”
Do you flash your P.I.N. or you S.I.N. number over the net??
It’s about following rules and regulations. If government officials are releasing this material, it proves they are most likley releasing a lot more sensitive docs that could lead to disaster!
And I do hope heads roll for this.

  21. Damn it all, Joe beat me to it. If you steal documents and publish them without the originator’/owners’ consent then that is theft. To steal and publish documents that a country has classified for security reasons then that gets into the treason category. It matters not if you think it is worthy of a security classification, it is a crime none the less. Kind of like getting caught ripping off a music CD, it doesn’t matter to the RIAA if the music sucked or was worth it. There is a legal case for international warrant and extradition of said accused to stand trial and face the music.
Try to imagine if some federal flunky decided to pass your income tax information to say, Warren Kancellia who publishes them.
And to add to the conspiracy meme, I also don’t think hundreds of thousands of documents were stolen by one self-righteous army private. There is more to it than that. Back in the day when I had a top secret security clearance, it meant that the info/equipment I handled was classified top secret, not that I could read just any old top secret stuff. The need to know, you know.

  22. …somehow Interpol does not have access to the Internet and is unable to pull an image of the wanted criminal.
LOL, I guess they were worried about copyright laws.
Texas Canuck: Treason doesn’t apply to non-Americans. He would have to be classified a spy, an enemy of the state or something like that. Treason would apply to whomever leaked the documents to Assange. Some US officials wanted to classify him as a terrorist, but I’m not in favour of twisting the meaning of “terrorist” to mean something else like “enemy” or “spy”.

  23. well, now Hillary’s name is mud after these releases
so, maybe Obama orchestrated this just to make sure Hillary does try for the 2012 nomination
or did some GOP’r orchestrate this so that there is a greater chance that Obama will be the DEM opponent in 2012, as he would be easier to beat than Hillary
as to ASSange, looks more like lefty spun dimwitt being used as a usefull fool tool

  24. “To steal and publish documents that a country has classified for security reasons then that gets into the treason category.”
As “scf” pointed out, it’s only treason if you are a citizen of that country.
Assange is an Australian national residing outside the US. He is beyond the writ of US espionage laws.
Of course, nothing prevents the US from considering him an enemy and acting unilaterally against him!

  25. Yeah, the dude is a criminal for exposing the sleazy, unproductive behavior of governments around the world.
Why do you guys hate freedom and democracy so much? Or right… you’re a bunch of delusional rightwingers who are barely even conscious. I forgot.

  26. Assuming that Assange is a hunted individual at this point, whether by lawful authorities or the voracious British press, one could feel sorry for him.

I understand from a Mr Toobin on CNN, that the international warrant does not mean Assange can be seized and held by another country. My interpretation could be wrong, but it would then be communicated to the Swedish authorities and then they would have to go through procedures for extradition.

Now those who support Assange in Britain likely have a series of “safe houses”. One can imagine his plight. For knowing people who have not much to lose if Assange is surrounded, there is one problem.

Someone who will, by telling someone else, that they know where he is and will blow his cover. They having said “but keep this a secret” – one can imagine that scene. It would not be long before the British press, many of whom have already sold their souls for a “scoop” will arrive.

In short the leaker will be slain by the leaker/s. Unless mouths are tightly shut.

  27. Indiana Homez “Releasing these documents hurts the Progressive narrative, so this whole ordeal is clearly about ‘me'(Assange).”
Assange is on record as describing himself as a libertarian in outlook. He’s never claimed to be a progressive; and his actions certainly do point to strong libertarian streaks.

  28. “Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an invisible government owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to the people” (Roosevelt, 98 years ago).
    To destroy this invisible government….
“…… the most effective way to attack this kind of organization would be to make “leaks” a fundamental part of the conspiracy’s information environment. Which is why the point is not that particular leaks are specifically effective. Wikileaks does not leak something like the “Collateral Murder” video as a way of putting an end to that particular military tactic; that would be to target a specific leg of the hydra even as it grows two more. Instead, the idea is that increasing the porousness of the conspiracy’s information system will impede its functioning, that the conspiracy will turn against itself in self-defense, clamping down on its own information flows in ways that will then impede its own cognitive function. You destroy the conspiracy, in other words, by making it so paranoid of itself that it can no longer conspire”
Assange creates havoc by leaking anything and everything.

  29. I,m sure the political keystone cops will get their bunny.
The Wests polices forces. All since politicized are useless. How many times have we seen them run, than being the brave lads they are arrest the none violent folks?
    Caledonia should never be forgotten.
We have thought, with hate crime police, with road fining as the hight of policing today. All other crimes mostly not mentioned or degraded into “Mischief”. It might mean work not pay offs.
    JMO

  30. Of course, with the One-Child-that-we-have-been-waiting-for as President, there will be no mysterious car accident. 🙁
    I miss American Competence.

  31. Rudy,
His actions display a cowardly self-agrandizing fool, who is the tool of whoever is paying him AND PROTECTING HIM

  32. Ya think obama is really pissed at this guy? Just askin’?
He had better book himself a spot in the local mortuary-it’s over for him.

  33. The idea that Obama orchestrated this places us in the very dangerous territory of acknowledging that a devious teenager is leader of the free world and sleeps with nuclear launching codes at the ready.
I prefer to think of him as a total incompetent, any indication of devious intelligence just moves forward the inevitable catastrophe that would attend his re-election. Seeing what he does in the foreknowledge of public scrutiny, can you imagine what he might do as a lame duck?
It seems to me that the most logical explanation for wikileaks is the widespread lack of responsibility of the current age, the idea that information has free-floating value out of context with duty or honour. It is more or less the equivalent of the child’s question at the dinner table, “what was that thumping from your bedroom last night?”
Children who are encouraged to ask such questions grow up to be CBC journalists and other such social misfits.

  34. You people who feel he should be arrested are ignorant sheep beyond belief! For one, the guy isn’t wanted for the documents he released! He’s wanted for some BS sexual misconduct charges that have been dropped once already.
Why would you rather be kept in the dark in regards to geopolitical actions of the world? Does it help you to fool yourself into believing your delusional take on reality? Who do you think these documents threaten? It certainly isn’t the average American, or the average citizen of any country…it hurts the corrupt, democracy hating political leaders of the world, it hurts the corrupt, self-serving justice departments of the world, it threatens the fictitious story that the US people, and people around the world, have been fed for decades.
    WAKE UP!

  35. Oh, and Interpol also REFUSED judges orders, for the first time ever, to arrest the commanding soldiers responsible for the killing of two journalists in the Palestine Hotel.
So hey, if you kill innocent people but you’re on the ‘right side’ you’re ok….if you release documents which show the public has been lied to…you should be shot???????
    Give your heads a shake!

  36. “For one, the guy isn’t wanted for the documents he released!”
Although the rest of your two postings was arrant nonsense, you hit the nail on the head here. It seems to have escaped everyone’s attention that:
    1. Assange is not an American citizen;
    2. he does not reside in the US;
    3. he does not appear to have conducted any direct “espionage” against the US to obtain this information (he obtained the material second-hand*); and
    4. these documents have no legal status as classified material outside of US handling and jurisdiction (simply put: their compromise is purely a US problem).
    * Admittedly however, it would be interesting to know the exact method by which they were passed to him and under what conditions.
