  10. Say what you will about Prentice, and believe me I am doing back flips over his departure, he did de-fang the environment as a issue to beat up on the Conservative government. What’s more he did it without destroying the Canadian economy or drastically altering the average Canadian’s life style. Now back to doing back flips.

    I really hate to give politicians much credit, given their horrible track record of obfuscation (especially here in BC)…..but maybe Prentice and Harper coyly played this to a T

    I need help guys. One of my friends is furious. Some time ago, only a day or so before the house voted on the (Cdn) long gun registy, he wrote a letter to the editor of a major newspaper stating that approx 66% of the Canadian population were against the registry, and in favour of scraping it.
    I do recall online polls that were conducted by MSN.Com, Yahoo, and the CBC in the days leading to the vote. If my memory serves me right, even the CBC showed that 66 % of Canucks were in favor of scrapping it.
    Of course he’s had rebuttals saying that Ipsos-Reid shows that 66% are in favor of keeping the Liberal gun registry. Question: Who is right?

Understatedly spectacular is the way Eliot’s career strikes one today, at a time when, it is fair to say, poetry, even to bookish people, is of negligible interest and literary criticism chiefly a means to pursue academic tenure. Literary culture itself, if the sad truth be known, seems to be slowly but decisively shutting down.
    The fame Eliot achieved in his lifetime is unfathomable for a poet, or indeed any American or English writer, in our day….

  25. Toronto Star reported yesterday that the Bruce Nuclear is over budget, and to prove their point they show a picture of construction area of the refit in total disaray.
    The only problem with this picture Is that the pic is from 2 yrs ago when the refit started.
    There is no indication in the photo that this is from files or 2yrs ago Nothing, So the impression is given to those either scanning headlines or reading the article that this refit is in a total disaray.

    So now this today from Duncan Hawthorne CEO Bruce Nuclear, who says that it is no secret that they are over budget and he points out that the project is 80% complete. He says the photo is from 2yrs ago & the paper had every opportunity to take a up to date photo of the area that is completed & painted & ready to run.
    This all stems from an Anonymous call after TransCanada Corporation was explaining about the cost
    So there you have it, The Toronto Star looking for dirt once again found their was nothing, But still had to make a article more tantilizing by adding a untrue photo and creating a picture of doom & gloom.

  27. 34 warships sent from US for Obama visit.
    The White House will, of course, stay in Washington but the heart of the famous building will move to India when President Barack Obama lands in Mumbai on Saturday.
    Communications set-up and nuclear button and majority of the White House staff will be in India accompanying the President on this three-day visit that will cover Mumbai and Delhi.
    Also a fleet of 34 warships, including an aircraft carrier, a helicopter — Marine One, two jets, armed with advanced communication and security systems, and a fleet of over 40 cars will be part of Obama’s convoy.
    Air Force One to be kept in all readiness throughout Obama’s stay here from Sunday afternoon to Tuesday morning. Sources said 13 heavy-lift aircraft with high-tech equipment, three helicopters and 500 US security personnel have arrived in India ahead of Obama’s visit.

    1. The Ministry of Environment advised the City of Victoria and the surrounding Capital Region District in 2006 that, for the first time, they would have to develop a plan to treat their sewage. I approved the plan for sewage treatment just two months ago – which is important, when you consider how much crap is generated at the Legislature!
