    Whoa. If you’re a fat, rich, straight conservative, you get it in the jugular, whereas if you’re a fat or rich leftard lesbian/gay (or any other gender configuration other than heterosexual) you’re A-OK.
    I’m really getting tired of this pile on of Rob Ford, and I figure in the long run it’s going to work in his favour.

    The point here is that Rona Ambrose hair or Rob Ford’s girth is news-worthy but Lizzie May and the other SOWs(Single Over-weight Women eg Cukier/Fry) lefty women get a pass.
    This is to a great extent why Sarah Pallin ( the polar opposite)threw the left wing into panic mode.

  7. yes, paul in calgary, Rob Ford is running for mayor and for much of the past few months has been the runaway favourite much to the chagrin of the chattering classes in TO who are doing every dirty thing in the book to try to discredit him.
    He’s owned up to some of the more unsavoury aspects of his past, but the pile on keeps getting nastier. He’s suggesting ridding Toronto Council of half of it’s 44 councillors, most of whom spend the whole amount of a whopping possible budget of $400,000/year. He and another councillor, Doug Holyday, have consistently underspent by a significant amount every year. Rob Ford’s the “ordinary, everyday” person’s candidate, whereas Slitherman, his closest rival, is the guy the Toronto leftard elite want as their mayor.

    Wente’s article about Palin a couple of weeks ago was similar. Although, Wente preferred to use terms like “wacko” and “beauty queen teeth” instead of “fat”. Normally, I like her writing but her jealousy of Palin never fails to manifest itself as a badly written, poorly reasoned, superficial article.

    To me that says “quit your whining, get off your butt and do something with your lives.” That’s exactly what the Centre of the Universe types need to hear.

Looks of average weight when you see him from the neck up but when you see him in full view you see what a pear-shaped loser he is. Again, it’s so creepy. And he has a big rear end.   33. I saw the article before it was purged. The Globe, the editor and the author were getting killed in the comments. Imagine that is why they decided to remove it.
    What really bugs me about media outlets that do this sort of thing is that they don’t even have the guts to post an apology. Instead they put up a 404 page.
    They’re like one of my dogs. When she did something wrong, she’d hide behind our living room window sheers thinking we couldn’t see her. With my dog, it was funny. The Globe. Pathetic.

    A few years back, after a reconciliation with an old “friend” over dinner, we began an e-mail exchange triggered by his radical global warming view and his insistence that I (if you’ll excuse the pun, which will soon become apparent) weigh in.
    The exchange eventually led to a heated debate about my libertarianism, which philosophy made him apoplectic. He argued against libertarianism ‘cos he himself couldn’t “self direct” his own life (true!). His cinching argument was, “Ok, Me No Dhimmi, take off 20 lbs and keep it off”, this presumably to make the case for the joys of state central planning.
    At my age, this stuff rolls like the proverbial water off a duck’s back, but nevertheless I was amazed that he would resort to insulting me due to my appearance.
    About 20 years earlier he took great delight in instructing me about the contrasting body types: endomorph and ectomorph, me of course being in the former category. Yuk, yuk, yuk.
    All that said, FAT and character are often related. But of course the point of the thread is that only Conservative FAT is ridiculed in MSM.

  37. Rob Ford is fat, and I think his fatness was enough to show the globe and mail’s hate hat. How dare they discriminate against the fatty’s, those hate mongers.Looks so good on them. How are they going to explain that in front of a human rights commission? We didn’t mean to say Mayor Ford was fat, we meant he is a healthy looking big-boned man, we meant to say he is a solid looking person. We’re not humans here at the globe and mail, we don’t see that fatness stuff, being fat is fine, and we will be donating quarter pounders to every fat person who we have offended.
    Libby Davis is fat, and a dyke to boot. I have never seen the g&m refer to her as a fat dyke. Why is that?

    The dyke part is quite obvious, why she’s never been referred to as ‘fat’ has nothing to do with her political stance, but rather her gender. It seems to be much more socially acceptable to ridicule the fatness of men, but not of women…likely because there is already enough body image related pressures as it is.
    Either way, if you’re fat, and you eat crap…you’re gross and need to re-evaluate your life’s priorities.

IF they are ruinous to all that we hold dear regarding social mores in the name of ‘fairness’ ( only if they agree with you) they consider that they are successful ‘journalists’ ‘columnists’ etc while uplifting the worst of the worst. Since the group of articles have disappared, it seems that outrage has had an effect. If so , let’s keep it up because somebody somewhere will always be on hand to save a screenshot of their outrageous lies and claims and accusations. As for not attacking NDP Libby Davies, it is obvious..
    Just as in the NOW issue in California. They do not stand to support Meg Whitman, NO , they support and endorse Jerry Brown. At all costs and in the most convoluted twists of logic.
    We need to end the influence of fools. ASAP!

  47. Mr. Ford is not being attacked because he packs around a few extra pounds. The human haters could care less about the weight or looks of individuals. Human haters are afraid of people who like themselves, life, God and their fellow man. Human haters were summed up very nicely by a gentleman on Glen Beck; the human hater is willing to jail a human for smashing an eagle egg (even if it is accidental) but is unwilling to squeak a word for unborn children when they are squished to death, always intentionally.

I merely stated the obvious…eating junk, nasty, crap food to the point of significant fatness is sad and pathetic. Eating is one of the most basic and fundamental aspects of life, it’s hard to respect the decision not to place it where it belongs on one’s list of priorities.
