  1. I’m working on a project in Kelowna next to an open grassy field wherein dwell several marmots.
They caused so much havoc chewing on the wiring of the workers vehicles that they moved out of the parking lot and park on the street now.
One fellow heard a strange noise under the hood as he drove home,he opened it and a big marmot shot out and ran away.
Those of us with humbler, older vehicles, like my old Astro van, were never bothered by the rodents,I saw one climb up under my hood, then come back down a minute later, nothing there to eat,I guess.

  2. Hilarious. At no point does the reporter question the car manufacturer. It’s all about the airport, and how the poor shmuck is a victim.
A perfect example of Thomas Sowell’s “stage one thinking”.

  3. I agree Norman, can’t really blame the airport here. What are they really supposed to do? Shoot all rabbits within a 200 foot range of the parking lot?
Imagine that, “green” wiring causing a slaughter of wabbits. Elmer Fudd would be proud.

  4. Bunny slaughter because of soy wiring.
Falcon,Hawk, Condor slaughter in the windmills.
Sea Turtles, Marlin, millions of pounds of other sea species(many endangered) slaughtered to keep the dolphins safe.
    Anyone see a pattern here?

  5. My daughter and son in law just went through a similar thing. The problem was rats. Yes, rats.
The dealer found three rat’s nests under the hood. The wiring was changed. Insurance paid for all but the deductable.
Yesterday my daughter phoned to tell me that she found rat droppings again, three days after the wiring was replaced.
Cuddly little rabbits or squirrels are one thing. Rats are a different matter. My guess is the soy attracts them.
Toyota and other manufacturesrs may have a bigger problem than they realize.
I googled rabbits squirrels and car wiring and the problem has been going on since 2008. URL below. There are other sites as well.
Getting rid of the car may be easier than getting rid of the rats. Old fashioned wiring would work.
They have had four or five vehicles over the years and this is the first time for rats under the hood.
I hope Toyota appreciate the problem and can help.
    Better yet will help.

  6. I wonder if rats eating the wiring is covered under warranty? Not an idle question around here, if you leave burger wrappers in the car you find mouse/rat poo the next morning.
On the plus side, we have lots of hawks around here to eat the little b@st@rds.

  7. Perhaps a nice paste of high-octane capsicum will help. Hey, it keeps zebra mussels off you boat, maybe it’ll keep the rodents from eating your car.
Growing Scotch Bonnets next year for sure.

  8. Solution seems relatively simple…

Stuff works like a hot damn with domestic animals chewing on stuff they aren’t supposed to; supposedly works a treat on garden plants you don’t want munched on as well.
For some reason, not easy to find at retail(?).

  9. one Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch would clear that parking lot of wabbits for an eternity….
and i sure am glad they didn’t use hemp for them car parts or you’d find half of skid row chewing on battery terminals and electrocuting themselves…
    hey wait a minute….

  10. It’s okay. They’ll just cry and eat some chocolate and complain about how they’re fat and that no man will love them instead of fixing it.
I hate my gender so much sometimes. I understand completely why we’re never taken seriously.

  11. like soy and Hemp, to revolutionize the production of Ford vehicles.
Makes the phrase:” Its smokin”. A whole new twist.
Will it come with anti-hippie wards?
In case they want to smoke your Hemp car.

  12. Why should I spend all day stitching n bitching when I can get big bucks designing edible cars!

  13. For the record, rabbits are lagomorphs, NOT rodents. Among other major differences, rodents are largely carnivorous and have fewer incisors, which is why it’s mainly rabbits who you have to watch out for here.

  14. “rodents are largely carnivorous”
Yeah sure. Why just last week I saw three cows killed by a hungry beaver. What’s more there were reports of six sheep killed by famished gophers. Well there is some debate about the gophers as someone is sure they found porcupine quills at the scene of the massacre.
Meanwhile Farmer John has a steady job just keeping the coyotes out of his granaries. Not only do those pests eat the grain they crap all over the inside of the bins and ruin the rest of the crop.

  15. Outside built up GTA areas, sunny days can bring out ground hogs and if their teeth are getting a bit long and your nearby parked car has a light coating of tasty salt spray on the ignition wires, oh Mama, it’s done for in just a few minutes. Stop your crying, ignore the mechanic on the shop floor doing a two handed wire grab and gnawing reenactment demo for his peers, and pay the nice woman behind the counter.
Then there was the nice Chinese lady a few years ago whose brand new Jag’s $$$ ignition system was vandalized twice at her expense at her downtown TO home within one week before surveillance of some furry gray nut collectors caught them red pawed.

  16. Soon PETA will demand that car wires come with a nutritional daily value label…
and that the nutritional content be adjusted to rabbit’s needs.
Sounds like a joke today, will be reality in a few years.

  17. Hey, while we lived in Colorado insurance reimbursed me $5000. for all the damage mice did to my Town and Country mini van that was parked in my garage for a few weeks while we were away visiting back home in Canada.
My husband blamed me and the kids for eating in the van and leaving crumbs etc. HA! I can’t wait to show him this!!
