League of concerned bystanders

Last week Århus-based Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten ran a series of articles dealing with immigration issues. One particular story in the Ghetto Land series focused on the experiences of a kind-hearted Danish woman who had been strongly committed to the notion of integration, and who put her money where her mouth is by creating a project designed to bring immigrants and native Danes together over dinner, but who over time began to experience, erm, life-altering difficulties in her area of Copenhagen, including chaos and unpleasantness at her 3-year old daughter’s kindergarten, and a certain level of menace in her neighbourhood – people standing in the middle of the road blocking her car and refusing to get out of the way, that sort of thing.
Recently, her 12-year old son was attacked for a third time:

He and a friend were on their way home from school and were walking up Nørrebrogade [major thoroughfare] when 12-14 immigrant boys began circling them. Benjamin had seen a couple of the boys previously at a Tae Kwon Do club. The group of immigrant boys managed to separate Benjamin and his friend so that each boy was surrounded by 6-7 immigrants. They started pushing the two Danish boys between them as if they were balls in a game. Slowly the boys were forced out onto the street. The traffic stopped and Benjamin made eye contact with some of the cyclists and drivers, silently pleading for help while being pushed around. No one came to his aid.

His friend was hit and kicked so severely that he ended up at the hospital emergency room. Benjamin escaped onto a bus, but his assailants followed. He had to jump off the bus and seek refuge in a shop before anyone helped him. (emph.mine)

Poor kid obviously needed more bystanders:

Socialists presented a series of proposals Friday to resolve the ghetto problems, including relocation of university students, entrepreneurs and public activities to the areas…

  1. Should read:
Socialists presented a series of retreats by the natives Friday to ignore the ghetto problems, including moving the sheep pen of university students from savages bent on killing them, entrepreneurs and public activities to the areas will like wise flee… In order to surrender & appease even more.

  2. Here’s another strong argument for concealed carry.

Eventually, when it becomes apparent that the government will not, and cannot, protect the citizenry, and in fact is passing and enforcing regulations that protect criminals and terrorists, the citizenry will have to act for themselves.
That column by George Jonas last week was one of the finest things I have read on these issues in living memory.

  3. Loki: “A strong argument for concealed carry of firearms, IMHO.”
Guess why the Left wants the gun registry? As Mark Stein points out in America Alone, many of the antics and attacks would be met with a stern response in Texas.

  4. Time to send Rorschach over to Denmark to take care of matters.
“This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood…and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout ‘Save us!’… and I’ll whisper ‘no.’
Now the whole world stands on the brink staring down into bloody hell. All those liberals, and intellectuals, and smooth-talkers; and all of a sudden no one can think of anything to say. Beneath me, this awful city, it screams like an abattoir full of retarded children. And the night reeks of fornication and bad consciences.”

  5. The thing about Michelle is that even though she and her kids have been constantly harassed, she still wants to hang in there:
“I love my apartment and my neighbours on the same stairway. Six or seven couples who are our very best friends live on our stairway, and we often eat together. We have our own successful “collective” surrounded by the ghetto. I also really love my 180 sq.m. apartment which I have decorated myself. It has three balconies and a roof terrace. It’s also not a good time to sell; we would lose a lot of money if we sold right now,” she says.
I’ve got news for Michelle – the value of her apartment is only going to head one way, and that’s straight down. But that should be the least of her concerns.

  6. Who cares if my son risks being assaulted when he leaves the apartment, I have three balconies and a roof terrace.

  7. If I didn’t know better, I might think that liberals wanted to create resentment among the masses. The more liberals cower to bullies, the more ordinary people will take matters into their own hands. Maybe liberalism is the best motivator of them all. Liberals won’t fix one’s problems. In fact, they will definitely make them worse. Fix your own problems or there goes the neighbourhood.

  8. POWinCA, you want to be real careful invoking the Watchmen in any positive way. Alan Moore is a hard-left raving moonbat anti-Thatcher loon. Rorschach is what he thinks Freepers are really like.

  9. They are called personal protection dogs. It’s amazing how a dozen scum will move on rather than face one that is well trained.

    Prime Minister comments.
A 37-year-old Iraqi Kurd has confessed that he and others had plans to bomb the Danish Jyllands-Posten newspaper, according to Norway’s VG newspaper quoting the Norwegian Security and Intelligence Service.
“I can confirm that one of those charged in the terrorist case has confessed to planning a terrorist attack,” Police Intelligence Service Head of Communications Trond Hugubakken tells VG, adding that Jyllands-Posten appeared to be the target.
“From what he has explained, it seems the newspaper was their target,” Hugubakken adds.”

“The Parliamentary Foreign Policy Committee has been called in to an extraordinary meeting.”
“Foreign Minister Lene Espersen has called an extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Relations Committee, which according to Berlingske Tidende has one issue on the agenda – the fifth anniversary of the publication by Jyllands-Posten of 12 caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed.
The report adds, however, that it is unclear why Espersen has found it necessary to call an urgent meeting of the committee.
The Foreign Ministry and Denmark’s embassies in Muslim countries have been particularly vigilant in recent weeks.
Berlingske Tidende writes that vigilance has been increased in connection with the upcoming fifth anniversary, which in turn comes in the wake of controversy surrounding threats to burn Korans in the United States and the publication this week of a book by Jyllands-Posten’s Culture Editor Flemming Rose.
Rose’s book, which deals with freedom of speech, is reported to be reprinting the caricatures.”

  12. At the end of it all, European nations will either whiplash into mass deportation or die under the weight of Muslim immigration. In this age of neo-liberalism and political correctness both plights seem unthinkable, particularly to ardent multiculturalists. Yet it is the price to be paid for abysmal birth rates, lax immigration standards and socialist domestic policies, not the least of which is generous state welfare.
France’s recent deportation of Gypsies is a portentous precedent. I suspect the Dutch and Germans are not far behind.
The truly tragic thing is the ends and means described above could have been prevented had Europe seized control of its immigration, reigned-in state benefits and abandoned its ostensibly doomed policy of multiculturalism.

  13. gee.
all this talk about multiculturalism reminds me of the poll somewhere about misserr toodoh and the direction his historical legacy will go in light of the multiculturalism he brought to the Canuckistan landscape.
    this from a ‘lefty’.

  14. Obviously those capitalist pig shopkeepers are horrible bigots to take sides against the immigrants!!!

  16. Two years ago in this city, a kid from Iran bought a machete and went looking for some guys who had insulted him at a party. When he couldn’t find them, he began threatening other people he ran into at random, including terrorizing two women locked in their car. When the police arrived, he charged them and was shot and killed.
The result? The policeman who did the shooting was suspended (of course) and placed under investigation, and the family of the young man with the machete hired a lawyer who announced he was planning to sue the city and/or the police officer – whose family began receiving death threats over the phone.
The barbarians are not at the gates: they are among us and we have welcomed them with open arms so that they can do things like this.

  17. Michael H Anderson – this tragedy could have been prevented if only we had a machete registry (yellow ribbon with pink dots would be nice).
Q: How would a registry have made any difference?
    A: Shut up, that’s how.

  18. Heading of the article: “You can’t integrate people who don’t want to be integrated.”
Sure you can. America -and- Canada have been doing it for a hundred years. You just have to make the social penalty for not integrating larger than the comfort/lazyness pay-off of not integrating.
Example, the problem of Gang punks beating up your kids. If the penalty was a $800 fine for the parents of every punk in the gang, every time, I suspect gang assaults would stop PDQ.
Example, intimidating people by blocking their car in the street. If the penalty for that was getting RUN OVER, I suspect there’d be a lot less blocking of streets.
What do the socialists propose? “…relocation of university students, entrepreneurs and public activities to the areas…”
Obviously their intent is not to solve the problem, but to make it worse. Probably more jobs for social workers and public sector union flunkies if there’s more social unrest.
