Agreed. I was watching that on CTV Newsnet and it is surreal. “Hospital Row” is on lockdown. I am very glad I live nowhere near Toronto and me and my 3 month old are safe and sound. I cannot imagine being a hospital employee there or having an issue that required a trip to the hospital.

But the ones who set fire to the police cars are already govt paid; either via student loans, or welfare, or even, govt jobs. Many came in to Toronto from outside just for this weekend and for one purpose only: the delirious fun of violence.
They have nothing, absolutely nothing, to say about any issues; they have no comments or thoughts on any global or national or any issues. They have one and only one agenda: a weekend of violence under the protection of ‘freedom of speech to protest’.
Miller, a hard left type, like these criminal vandals, is also against government and industry. He’s handed the city of Toronto over to the Unions. The union workers, the key work force in Toronto, operate as an elite, with salary increases two to three times that of the private sector, huge pensions and bonuses, jobs-for-life. That’s Miller’s base. To fund this elite, he’s had to extort more and more money from the federal and provincial govts; ie. to broaden his tax base. And he’s increased city taxes, imposed new taxes on anything he can, such as doubling the cost of car registration, doubling taxes on house sales, ticketing any and every parking spot he can. Miller, bound to that greedy union, only thinks about money.
As for hospital row – these vandals, these thugs, think nothing of the harm they are doing with their riots and shouts. These are hospitals; patients need quiet and peace not fear.
These people are criminals and they have come in to Toronto (as I said, many are from outside the province) for one thing only; that weekend of ‘free violence’.

A few years ago the B.C. Teachers’ Federation paid to send one or more busloads of protesters from the Lower Mainland down to what became known as the “Battle of Seattle.”
Surprisingly little coverage of that at the time as I recall but great times for militant trade unionists.

Well, my blood is boiling at an even higher temperature now that the thugs — “protesters,” my foot — have torched police cars, broken windows, thrown tear gas, and vandalized Toronto streets.
The police, now that dusk is upon us here in Hogtown, are starting to move in on the violent thugs in Queen’s Park. They’ve got “snatch” squads, which are moving in to apprehend specific perpetrators of violence, and they’ve activated the mounted units to disperse the crowd.
What’s just as disturbing as the violence is the people standing on the sidelines of the thuggery and vandalism TAKING PHOTOS, for crying out loud. A very few tried to take the vandals on and stop them, but most of the idiot spectators were just sauntering around, with kids and dogs, not lifting a finger to stop the criminal activity. No outrage.
I’m OUTRAGED.
What entitled, lazy, moral pygmies we’ve become. If you’re not part of the solution, you’re a BIG part of the problem. Imagine the police having to work around these disengaged spectators, who merely want to be “entertained,” as they try to control the crowds.
The police restraint has been disturbing, but one thing it has allowed, is for the public to see what these **it disturbers are capable of. I’m expecting a lot more arrests now that the police have violent protesters on camera and have been able to follow the worst of the offenders for a few hours.
(Earlier today, reporters witnessed members of the Black Bloc, some of the most militant protesters, removing their black clothing so that they could blend in with the crowd. Hopefully, some undercover cops were observing the same thing, taking note, and tracking these jerks.)

If the Toronto police hadn’t yet moved against the protesters despite their organizational advantages, weapons, shields, radios, etc., it is batshit crazy for you to expect bystanders to do more than take photos.
Some of those “bystandars” probably supported the protests. Others don’t. And they’re doing the smart thing by taking pictures which can be used later as evidence.

The only high point about any of this is that the CBC’s Susan Ormiston, reporting on Queen Street where another police cruiser is on fire and one of the Susan Harridans of the Media, is looking like she’s about to burst into tears. She’s looking mighty scared.

What the Hell are these bystanders doing in the area anyway? I sure as Hell am nowhere near what’s going on downtown and I live just a few blocks away. Hundreds of spectators snapping photos are part of the problem.
There was footage of lone vandals breaking shop windows. All it would have taken is a few strong spectators to tackle one vandal in order to disarm them or stop them. What’s the syndrome called where 30 bystanders refuse to lift a finger while one thug perpetrates a crime? Anyway, it’s arrived in Toronto.

That would solve it pretty quick, just like mandatory 10 years for committing a crime with a gun, again no judicial discretion on sentencing.
I read a report of a business owner asking permission to go to his store with a bat. The answer of course was no. The same report also said they saw a store owner chase loonies out with a broom. Maybe forget the armour boys and give the cops some brooms. If you don’t have all the crap on you will feel the rocks and maybe do something to make it stop.
