  1. Wow, we’re starting to see some real competition for World’s Greatest Wildlife-Related Headline, held unchallengeably for many years by the Brandon Sun from 1985:
“Sonic Booms Ruled Out In 156 Goose Deaths”

  2. A message to Syncrude and other oil sands producers,”SHUT DOWN AND SHUT DOWN NOW!” Maybe that will get the slimball environmentalists out of the “save the earth” business. They will get back into their lairs and be afraid to raise their heads again after the unemployed oil workers are done with them.

  3. That’s from the school of journalism where you immediately go to the extreme, rule it out, but make the issue seem more dramatic.
    Why, I will give it a try…
Squirrel found dead on road. Police rule out use of nuclear device.

  4. That is a stupid headline.
As a bit of folklore trivia, the Elmworth area has had a huge man-made problem with grizzly bears for years and years. Word is over the last several years there are plantings of oats which are never harvested with the direct intent of attracting the bears to the area. And it worked. Now they’ve just been deemed protected so even if a grizzly was gnawing on your first born you’d still be penalized if you shot it.
F & W, concerned about this unnatural congregation of grizzlies, does nothing.
My guess is that the grizzlies are deemed protected because all of them are at Elmworth and they are counting noses elsewhere.

  5. Bad news/Good news
The bad news, a lot of ducks died. The good news, they were just f*ing ducks.
Don’t get me started on building bird strikes/kills in major urban areas.

  6. Can’t blame the bear.
I have eaten pit BQ donkey and it is delicious!
Better than beef by a long shot.

  7. Once read a local news story about a beekeeper near Beaverlodge who had a bear problem. He explained that “his bear” was dominant in the area and if he was killed all the younger bears hanging around the edge of this bear’s range would make a run for it and he would have a half dozen competing bears on his hands instead. The answer was constant vigilance and making the honey seeking bear very unwelcome by the use of “big firecrackers” and other tricks every time it showed up until it got the message.

  8. Notice to progressives: All bears aren’t named Whinny.
btw No-one, I was thinking you were talking of a different kind of cougar attack!

  9. O’dead duck.
Socialism/envroism is a cannibal. The ‘isms are eating their own + crOw.
    … caw caw caw …
    But, don’t fret/sweat: it’s B’s fault.

“Angered by BP Gulf Oil Spill, Environmentalists Call on Obama to Fire Salazar
A coalition of environmental groups and scientists is calling on President Obama to fire Interior Secretary Ken Salazar for his “failed policies” that it says led to the Deepwater Horizon rig explosion in April that killed 11 workers and set off the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico that BP and the government is struggling to contain.
The conservation group, WildEarth Guardians, has mobilized 100 other environmental groups and scientists to sign a letter to the president, saying Salazar, “like his predecessors in the George W. Bush administration, has failed to place science above politics and prioritize federal environmental protections above accommodations for ecologically harmful industries.”
The letter noted that some of the groups opposed Salazar’s nomination last year because of his “flawed record on natural resource issues.”
“The intervening 16 months, unfortunately, have confirmed that Mr. Salazar will not fulfill your administration’s promises to safeguard the environment in this country or globally,” the letter reads. “Rather, Mr. Salazar has either embraced or failed to reform many of the destructive policies of the previous administration.””

  10. The silly cow who would pic GP to breed Donls hasn’t the common knowledge needed to run live stock in an area edging real wilderness.
She should have stuck to making baskets and pottery in the ‘snoid zone’ 100 km north of GTA

  11. She said the officers told her they had been near Olesen’s home the day before the attack looking for the bear.
What is the point of a tracking collar if if doesn’t actually help you locate a bear?
“In bear habitat, there’s potentially a number of bears in the area,” Whiteside said.
    Yup.
But how many of them having tracking collars.
Grizzlies have a 70 square mile territory.
I think this woman could sue the government and win.
The tracking collar means the bear is registered with the authorities and is potentially “their bear” in the same legal sense that my dog, who has a registered tag, is my dog and my responsibility.

  12. Hey Texas you can name a bear anything you want, you just can’t create a new disposition.
The grizzly bear situation is tragic, well tragic in the sense that if a grizz isn’t the “traditional” range it’s not counted as part of the “official” population. The “official” popuation does not extend east of Hiway 22. A couple of years ago a hunter was killed north east of Sundre by a non-population grizzly. Although it wasn’t counted as part of the population, it was removed from it. That’s lefty environmentalists with an agenda for ya though.

  13. Billie Older
I raise cattle about five miles from the farm where the donkeys were killed. Does this mean I’m a silly bovine as well or is the silly cow label reserved for those who raise donkeys? Have a nice day Billie.

  14. This weekend, about 500,000 chickens will be fried in oil in fast food restaurants all ovewr North America, and the tree huggers are worried about 1600 ducks! Or was it 1605?
Just remember, “It’s the Oily Boyd that gets the warm!”
