This Was The Moment When The Rise Of The Oceans Began To Slow

…and a nation began to emerge from stupor.

More Americans – 69 per cent – are unhappy about the U.S. president’s administration’s response to the BP disaster than disapproved of George Bush’s botched handling of Hurricane Katrina five years ago, according to a poll.

1. I miss Bush. I knew, ages ago, Obama would be a disaster…but not this bad.
By the way, he’s never letting a crisis go to waste. Kerry/Lieberman are introducing a national energy tax to address this issue.
All hail hope, change, and perpetual poverty!

2. Many have mused as to if the BP disaster will be Obama’s Katrina. I think it will be his Chappaquiddick because Obama, like Kennedy, will get a free pass simply because he is a Democrat. Only the GOP face real criticism. The poll will prove to mean nothing in the end.

3. Check out that Alien in the White House piece. The writer perfectly captures that creepy sense of detachment exhibited by obozo.

4. I think Obama exhibits this detachment for two reasons.
First, he most definitely was not raised as an American; his mother was a socialist anti-American; his father not merely absent but from another country, Kenya; his stepfather from Indonesia. Obama has no relation to the USA.
Second, he’s a clinical narcissist and is unable to feel empathy with anyone because his psychological need is to control and dominate people, not collaborate and share with them.
Most people aren’t aware of exactly how deeply psychologically damaged Obama is, and are trying to excuse his lack of empathy by defining him as a ‘cerebral intellectual’. But Obama isn’t an intellectual; there’s no evidence ever of him being a researcher, analyst, debater, author, of anything theoretical or intellectual. He’s written nothing, he’s unable to explain even the policies and programs put forward for him to sell by the radical socialists who run him.
Then, people try to excuse him by defining themselves as ‘the problem’; and Obama is always ready to define the American people as guilty of something, whether it be racism, ignorance, bias, greed. He’s accused Americans of these characteristics repeatedly already – and it’s a neat tactic of causal offloading.
The real problem is Obama. I suspect that Obama will retreat more and more into his virtual world, attend more and more parties, play more golf, and appear ‘in anger’ at various events..while the Democratic Party splits in two. There’ll be the normal ‘social justice’ Democrats who are fleeing Obama, and the hardline radicals who run Obama..who are trying to get their statist structure in as fast as they can before they lose control of Congress.

5. Right on ET.
That’s what we are observing in the media right now. Far Left “social justice” peacenik types are now slagging Obama in public and “throwing stuff” as they protest Nancy Pelosi according to Drudge. They are in fact becoming much more raucous and violent as time goes on and oil keeps bubbling up out of the Gulf.
I heard John F-in’ Kerry on Bloomberg briefly last night, selling Global Warming to that IDIOT Charlie Rose. Briefly because listening to him lie like a Persian carpet exhausted my last frayed nerve in about two minutes. So the O-bots are forging ahead with their carbon tax, their MSM bailout and their FTC shut-uppery of the Internet, aka the Drudge Tax.
Going to be interesting to see how much they can Rahm through before November, and how much is allowed to stand post-November.
Also going to be interesting to see if Barry lets the Mediterranean erupt into a war to take the pressure off him. Given his mental malfunction, that would probably look like a great idea to him.

6. That WSJ column expresses exactly my unease with Obama. As I said to my wife recently, I simply do not believe he has the best interests of the United States at heart. He sees himself as an outsider in our country and identifies primarily with the third world.
How could my countrymen have been so FRIGGIN STUPID!!!

7. So how is it that On a CBC TV news item last night Neal Mcdonald can claim that dispite his performance of late Obama remains (paraphrase)”largely popular in the US” . Apparantly an approval rating under 50% qualifies as a high level of popularity in the eyes of the CBC.

8. The big “0” said in a TV interview that he hasn’t spoken with the CEO of BP because the CEO would give him all the “right” answers or some such crap. From the dude who wants to sit down and have tea with the “telly-ban”. The man is unreal. I’m almost wishing Shrillary had gotten in. I said almost.

“Is Obama at a Tipping Point?
Hurricane Katrina. Hostage crisis. Tet Offensive.
Is Barack Obama’s presidency at a similar tipping point?
The relevance of the question exemplifies the gravity of Obama’s crisis. Obama is learning the lesson of presidents before him. ”Poor Ike,” Harry Truman said of the incoming president, “it won’t be a bit like the Army. He’ll sit here and he’ll say, ‘Do this, do that,’ and nothing will happen.”
Presidents are hostage to events, goes the old political axiom. But that’s a half-truth. Presidencies rise and fall far more by their response to great events than to the event itself.”

10. Texas Canuck, yes I saw that interview. Absolutely appalling that Bam Bam hasn’t called the BP CEO. Just goes to show his lack of executive experience in……er, anything.
Bam Bam is the head of America Inc. Hayward is the head of BP. Both men sit atop massive organizations with the personnel, technology, resources, and knowledge available to deal with the oil spill. HOW THE F*CK HAVE THESE MEN NOT SPOKEN DIRECTLY TO CO-ORDINATE EFFORTS?
Obama — one big ass mistake America.

11.
Most people aren’t aware of exactly how deeply psychologically damaged Obama is, and are trying to excuse his lack of empathy by defining him as a ‘cerebral intellectual’.
ET
ET,
Obama has spent all his live denying the race of his mother (see his book)… The only connection to America comes from the Teleprompter……He fakes his Americanism (so said George Soros)… He took advantage of this mother’s country & heritage when his Communist teachers recognized the possible political connection………. He is an Unkown!
he hasn’t spoken with the CEO of BP because the CEO would give him all the “right” answers or some such crap
Texas Canuck
This is a most telling act of incompetent leadership…He is simply afraid to engage in a dialogue which requires him to articulate an understanding of the problems, & possible acceptable solutions… He is a useless turd, comparable to Jimmy Carter’s Iran Hostage policy..X number of days & counting….

12. If 9-11 had happened on Obama’s watch, he would have told Americans that is was all their fault – after a faux expression of sympathy.

13. This is Obama’s Katrina and Watergate and Waterloo all at once . Jon Stewart is ripping THE WON, not just a little either. THE ROLLING STONE has a lengthy piece on THE WON’s performance in regards to MMS, spill containment, etc. 8 pages, no pictures. the rest of the lamestream is going to have to follow suit, and Palin slapped him upside the head again on Facebook. I suspect a lot more people are going to shortly KICK his ASS.

14. Excellent comments. Obamugabe won’t speak to BP’s CEO because he can’t lord over him as he has no knowledge nor interest of anything practical / technical. At least Jimmy Carter had some useful life-skills.
As to Phantom’s comment, a ME war breaking out would definitely be a distraction but my fear would be that he wouldn’t know which side to take nor how to response.

15. O: If you can’t see ‘whose ass to kick’, odds are you’re standing in front of it.

16. When Obama talks about “kicking ass” and “putting a boot to BP’s neck”, he alienates the only people who can actually help him. In so doing, he shows himself to be a demagogue who has no concept of his proper role in this affair and who places popular perception above the long-term interests of the nation. He should be bringing the entire oil industry together, encouraging their cooperation and finding out how the resources of the federal government can assist in fixing the problem. Inquiries can come latter. Instead, he lunges for the only response that a lifetime of “community organizing” has encouraged in him: a reflexive casting of blame and righteous “indignation”. He imagines (mistakenly, I believe) that this will increase his popularity. It may, momentarily, among those who nurse poorly understood resentments against others (see Maureen Dowd, the elderly schoolgirl who “writes” for the New York Times), but there are signs that many Americans are getting sick of it.

17. “America and China, in the same boat on human rights,”
I’ve witnessed this putting of China on a pedestal in my own life. While taking the mandatory Sustainability training at my work, China and it’s “One Child” policy is touted as a trailblazer and a fine example for environmentalism. Crazy times.

‘Obama Deceives the Public'”
“Daniel Ellsberg, legendary leaker of the “Pentagon Papers” in 1971, still has a bone to pick with the White House. In an interview with SPIEGEL ONLINE, the 79-year-old peace activist accuses President Obama of betraying his election promises — in Iraq, in Afghanistan and on civil liberties.
SPIEGEL ONLINE: Mr. Ellsberg, you’re a hero and an icon of the left. But we hear you’re not too happy with President Obama anymore.
Daniel Ellsberg: I voted for him and I will probably vote for him again, as opposed to the Republicans. But I believe his administration in some key aspects is nothing other than the third term of the Bush administration.
SPIEGEL ONLINE: How so?
Ellsberg: I think Obama is continuing the worst of the Bush administration in terms of civil liberties, violations of the constitution and the wars in the Middle East.
SPIEGEL ONLINE: For example?”

19. The wooden man. Obama Pinocchio, the anti-American post American.
This guy is about as American as Osama.

20. Great article, “Alien in the White House” (that’s for sure), by Dorothy Rabinowitz. A must read.
Really, Obama’s looking increasingly otherworldly with every public appearance. He sort of glides slightly above the surface, like the Martians in Mars Attacks just before they go for the jugular.
‘Wonder what OB’s next move will be?

21. “So how is it that On a CBC TV news item last night Neal Mcdonald can claim that dispite his performance of late Obama remains (paraphrase)”largely popular in the US” . Apparantly an approval rating under 50% qualifies as a high level of popularity in the eyes of the CBC.”
It’s the typical trickery the Legacy Media depend upon. I’ve heard the same assertion for the past few months. That figure they quote is his “personal approval rating”, which is quite distinct from his “job approval rating”. The latter is the politically telling poll, the former is just the crowd of dupes who bought into his cult of personality. The Left Wing media trot out that former poll number without explicitly stating to the viewer/listener that it is NOT his job approval number.

The Obama-mania that enthralled most netizens upon the election of the first black American prezzy is on the wane and it has nothing to do with his administration’s recent diatribe, calling our Veep a fiction writer.
As I stated here a year ago, we gave our brother the thumbs up when he in his very first speech as prezzy, made closure of the dreaded Guantanamo bay neti a priority issue for his nascent administration.
Misplaced optimism
How misplaced our optimism was. Guatanamo is not only operational but the brother in his recent State of the Union address raffled feathers here by making it clear that he would be championing gay rights in … wait a minute … in the military!
The greatest army on earth parading sissies on the frontline! I initially thought I was mistaken but when he repeated the sentiments a week later at a prayer breakfast meet, berating Ugandans for taking a hard-line stand on homosexuality, I knew he had lost the conservative block which is the majority here.
I hold back a sigh every moment gay rights are equated with human rights while its proponents well know that homosexuality is a crime in our Penal Code.
Why should Barry upbraid Uganda for seeking a home-grown solution to what they consider to be an affront to their rich cultural heritage? Let’s get it straight. Most laws in the world are borrowed from the Mosaic laws of yore with our Penal Code being an exact replica of the book of Leviticus chapters 18-20. Those who have lavished Njoki Ndungu with praise for the sexual offences Act only need to refer to the good book to realise that most of those accolades were over-rated.”

*O’narcissist:
“The “small people”, the “rank and file”, the “loyal soldiers” of the narcissist – his flock, his nation, his employees – they pay the price. The disillusionment and disenchantment are agonizing. The process of reconstruction, of rising from the ashes, of overcoming the trauma of having been deceived, exploited and manipulated – is drawn-out. It is difficult to trust again, to have faith, to love, to be led, to collaborate. Feelings of shame and guilt engulf the erstwhile followers of the narcissist. This is his sole legacy: a massive post-traumatic stress disorder.”

23. batb – yes, that is a great article. And now notice what Obama is doing. True to form, he’s trotting out ‘racism’ to deflect popular disapproval and criticism of his failure to deal with the BP oil spill.
We’ve got the White House and its minions declaring that Obama is a victim of ‘race’; that he can’t show anger, because that would stereotype him as an ‘angry black man’. Gosh, that would indeed be terrible. Does this mean that a leader with his skin colour cannot show any emotion?
What people are upset about with Obama is not that he’s failing to show anger at the oil spill, but that’s he’s INDIFFERENT to the results of that spill.
Bobby Jindal has a dark skin and he’s furious and no-one is smashing him up for so doing; he’s getting a lot of praise. Because Jindal is asking the federal govt – why aren’t you approving the big equipment we need to clean up, why aren’t you sending the assistance we need to clean up, why haven’t you set up systems and workers to help clean up? Why do you ignore what is going on?
After all, Obama hasn’t, in these 51 days, talked to the CEO of BP. Not once. He’s done nothing about the spill but express phrases such as ‘I’m furious’. Who cares?
What’s needed is the concern for the RESULTS of the oil spill. And Obama hasn’t shown the slightest interest in the devastating results.
He’s had a photo-op of himself peering at the sand. He’s had an interview where he says he must ‘kick ass’…a vulgar expression for a president. And what good would that do? What’s needed is the equipment, the workers, the federal approval for big equipment and methods..to CLEAN UP.
But now, to deflect criticism of his inaction and aloofness, Obama is, sigh..as usual…turning to his second-best excuse. Race. [His first excuse remains: “Bush did it”.]
He, poor thing, can’t express anger because he gets a racist response. Poor guy.
The reality is that Obama cannot express EMOTION because he is a pathological narcissist and is psychologically unable to feel empathy or emotion for anyone. That’s what’s real.

24. Why are we surprised?
Obama was never fit to lead and I don’t think he cared to. He wanted adulation (still wants it) and will do what it takes to get it.

25. Mouth, did you even read any of the posts? Obama is an alien because he has as much to do with the US as Putin does with Georgia. It’s very clear (as he and his loud-mouthed wife have made it so) that he has no good will toward the country he serves. He has mishandled EVERY crisis that came his way and blamed it on his predecessor or the electorate.
Try an informed post next time!

26. Osumashi, bleetymouth can’t read.
That was a cut-and-paste from a rabble or daily kos or something with the word “Kate” typed in one-finger style.
