  1. Polar bears have been sighted as far south as Berlevåg on the Norwegian mainland and the Kuril Islands in the Sea of Okhotsk, about 600 miles northeast of Japan.

  2. and in the same vein of lies, cheats, frauds and eco-grifters . . .
“…an investigation into the professional backgrounds of the scientists finds that many do not work in climate science and some work in fields not even remotely related to it. In fact, among the first 20 listed, none work in climate science.
Pediatric surgeons, an expert in the Maya and the Olmec civilizations, a chemist that studies bacteria, a ‘computer pioneer’ with Microsoft, an electrical engineer, the chairman of a biotechnology firm, and even an expert studying corn are but a few of the 255 ‘experts’ that signed the letter.”

  3. “There is always some uncertainty associated with scientific conclusions.”

WTF? You mean as in “we’re sorry one hundred million people died as a result of our politically tainted agenda driven science.” ??????

  4. “deeply disturbed”indeed.
Now here: Academics urge radical new approach to climate change as though it’s not been radical enough. Quote: “The raising up of human dignity is the central driver of the Hartwell Paper, replacing the preoccupation with human sinfulness that has failed and will continue to fail to deliver progress,” said lead author Prof Gwyn Prins.
So it has been a religion to these ‘academics’ all along and now it’s a new issue. They want to charge for ‘dignity’ instead of gas. Is that by the kilogram too?

  5. Are they actually comparing the hypothesis of AGW with The Big Bang and the Theory of Evolution? It sure would help their credibility if they could explain how this untestable hypothesis could ever be proved wrong. After all:
    Too hot=AGW
    Too cold=AGW
    Drought=AGW
    Floods=AGW
and so forth. In fact, it seems that any deviation from some dubiously contrived average is proof of AGW. If a theory can not be falsified, be definitely linked to actual observations, or correctly predict future events then it is not science, it is philosophy – the equivalent of String (or M)Theory.
It is hard for me to believe there was a time that I enjoyed reading science magazines and watching science documentaries. Now, few can refrain from constant moralizing and lecturing. Even if they can manage to restrain themselves, they inevitably include a horrible human bit that is either in the last couple paragraphs or last 10 minutes of the program. It reminds me of a church revival where the congregation feels compelled to say “Hallelujah” or “Praise the Lord” after the sermon.

  6. LC Bennett, well said. I have railed for years about the unfalsifiability of AGW theory, which fell largely on deaf ears. People simply have faith in, and believe what the warmers tell them. This puts AGW clearly in the camp of religion or its corrolary, as you put it, philosophy. Nothing wrong with either religion or philosophy as far as it goes, but neither is science. And certainly neither should be used as a foundation to restructure the global economy.
Like you, I have long enjoyed reading science magazines, or science shows. Nova has been a particular favorite of mine, but in recent years global warming is constantly injected into its programs, where the link is dubious at best to the subject matter at hand.
This is probably why some of my favorite topic matters are on things extra-terrestrial. It’s pretty hard to inject the political dogma that is AGW into a program about, for example, Mars exploration.

  7. You don’t have to lie when you have an objective piece of truth. Tired of science as the secular answer to infallibility. The Religion of humanist Politics.
Used to rake in Money, fame, power, with unlimited funds for the liar. For a human Marxist racket driven fantasy, to rob citizens of their individuality & freedom.
remember the Politicians creed.: Let no disaster fake or real. Go to waste in being bullies by Law to to control them with a science theory.
    JMO

  8. Revnant Dream
Theory? They even lie about that!
A THEORY must be falsifiable, be definitely linked to actual observations, or correctly predict future events.
AGW is not even a robust hypotisis.

  9. True, Colin. Extra-terrestrial science is still mostly immune to AGW politics, although they still manage to make comparison to the greenhouse effect on Venus. In my province this is included at the grade 3 level while learning about the solar system.
The saddest part is that students and young people are no longer allowed to admire the advances in science and technology. Instead all progress, except ‘green’ progress, is vilified. At the extreme, I read a National Geographic article last year that lamented the move from hunter/gather society to settlement and agriculture. It guess that it wasn’t enough for the educated class to destroy the most interesting bits of History and English by overlaying it with guilt; they now have science in their revisionist cross-hairs.

  10. And LC Bennett, it also appears that not even our conservative politicians are fighting this trend. In fact, some of them, including Prentice, have bought into the fraud.
Photo shopped Polar bears accepted as fact? What is next and cannot the thinking non-Marxist movers and shakers push back?

I read that Deligpole blog late last night.
Jame’s commenters discuss photoshopping landscapes cluttered with wind turbines so that people can get a visual idea of what the AGW cult are attempting to bring about in the world.
I thought it was a great idea.
As always, the big problem is to get such pictures out to the masses who don’t read conservative blogs.

  12. “We are deeply disturbed by the recent escalation of political assaults on scientists in general and on climate scientists in particular. All citizens should understand some basic scientific facts. ”
Ahhh yes the great illuminated elite who fully backed Al Gore’s cartoon apocalypse movie.
Respect is earned and the quackery used to propell the greatest fraud against humanity in living memory puts the science community’s credibility down there with grafting skank ex vice presidents.
Science and politics/crony corporatism don’t mix. Sort it out among yourselves and get back to us. Until that time you all wear the tinfoil hat AFAIC.

  13. About the picture,
As the article spells it out, it was made up. Now, it is clear that the authors of the picture and the Science magazine did this on purpose. Normally, most people will not question it; after all it is in the big Science magazine.
The desired reaction from the audience was to feel sorry for the poor dear polar bears, they are going to drown.
The thing is, most of the audience will not check into the life story of a polar bear.
Wiki, as far as you can trust it says that they can be in an open water as far as 200 miles from land, that does not mean that they have to swim the distance, they take a ride on a sheet of ice take breaks where ever. It also says that it can swim 6 miles an hour and polar bear is a marine mammal.
So the picture is wholly misleading, basically an intentional lie. Even if it was real.

  14. re: “The raising up of human dignity is the central driver of the Hartwell Paper …”
Anything invoking “human dignity” is based on mysticism rather than reason. For starters, the term is never defined.
