  4. Saw a shorter version of the great “0” non-answer answer on the interview with Fox’s Brett Baier. Baier’s interview was shorter only because the journalist did a fair job of getting his Eloquence back on track several times. Never did give an answer though.

  9. Lincoln was much more concise. There is a story, which may be a myth, that he delivered a very short address because he was ill at the time and couldn’t afford to be long-winded. Nevertheless, he made his point quickly.

  10. I know he wants to compare himself to Lincoln….but the comparison is not flattering to Obama.
    Not only was the gettysburg address concise, so was his second inaugural speech. Both are engraved on the walls at his memorial. They are both inspiring and proof that the english language can be a powerful thing, when spoken with purpose and without articfice.

  11. The Gettysburg Address is 269 words long and took less that three minutes to give. It defines succinct. What Obama delivered was the antithesis to the Gettysburg Address. He defines tedious. BTW, I wonder how O feels about the last line in the Gettysburg “It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us—that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain—that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

    As noted the answer did not address the question…
    Re the Gettysburd address.
    The direct witnesses, who were present were not impressed…..perhaps because they had been harranged for hours by a series of aclaimed orators (windbags).
    It was not until it appeared in print, in the press that it’s import was realized.

  17. Communication is an important part of my job. I have to convey complicated technical matters to employees, management, clients, and government agents.
    And Strunk was right. Simpler is better. There is a limit to what the human mind can absorb in a single go.
    Now Obama is considered a master communicator, so how could he make such a basic mistake?
    The answer is that he didn’t. Not everyone who speaks is trying to communicate. Sometimes they’re trying to overwhelm, browbeat, impress, bully, avoid, delay, confuse, intimidate, or just get the other side to shut up.

  18. The more he and other dems try to explain, the more support they loose. This is always the case when your cause is wrong – the more you explain the more clear it becomes that it is wrong.

    Lincoln believed what he said. Barry is just a product of the machine and regurgitates the talking points.

    Hospitals in the USA are required by Federal law to take care of people wheter they have health insurance or not.
    So Obama is telling a lie by using a fact.
    Millions do not have Health insurance but they do have ACCESS to health care services.
    It is a Federal law in the USA, has been for decades.
    Obama may as well say millions of Canadians do not have Health insurances and he would be right, but still be telling a lie about the availability of health care services to Canadians.
    Do your own research, Hospitals in the USA are required by Federal law to treat people even if they have no insurance.
    Obama is lying.
    But then again that is how he got elected…
