Best Canadian Blog
2004 - 2007
Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Daniel Hannan (British MP) was calling for something very similiar too:

Don’t you mean Margaret Thatcher?
Those days are long gone….
The real question is now, who will emerge as leaders and how will the sides fall out at the time of total economic Armageddon? In other words, who will militarily attack whom when Europe has no one left to tax, the United States can no longer borrow from China and China has no market to sell their goods. I suspect the Chinese will make the first move.
Better brush up on Mandarin. You’ll be seeing those Chinese aircraft carriers not too far from Vancouver and if you look closely, Obama is bowing to them.
The current generation in Eu doesn’t need a Sarah Palin. I couldn’t figure out why until I read it in an article – forget where. The author said that all of Europe was a great, beautiful museum, built by previous generations through a combination of hard work and imperial and colonial plunder.
This means that a very beautiful museum has been built, which is a nice place to inhabit for the locals, and is partly supported through tourist dollars.
The author mentioned the corollary – in other words New Jersey strip malls and suburbs aren’t such a beautiful museum to inhabit for generations – so the US situation may not turn out so well if something isn’t done.
Sure. Eurowennies need to find their inner tea party.
Just so long as they take after the original one in Boston.
In their effort to emulate the United States of America, but becoming the European Union, they failed to realize that the American states ..
– have common language and culture
– have never slaughtered each other
– have not become lazy socialist sloths at the trough (yet)
– have not imported too many Muslim whack jobs (also yet)
– united at a time when it made sense as they were still in the nation building phase
– had some very enlightened men early on who laid down some very intelligent rules that they called the constitution.
Soooooo what did they expect? They were doomed from the beginning. They will be slaughtering each other again within the next couple of decades or so.
Abe- Actually, they have slaughtered each other. That’s one of the things that made them stronger.
Never slaughtered each other unless you count the American Revolution and the American Civil war.
Never mind europe, where’s Canada’s?
You’re visiting her site Joe.
“Leaders quietly remind one another that the union has kept all of its 27 member countries democratic and at peace with each other.”
Yes, good logic here. Brian Burke should also congratulate the Toronto Maple Leafs as, though they haven’t won the Stanley Cup in 42 years, they are known as GOOD SPORTS!
The trouble with the EU is there’s no Opposition, just a series of socialists in each Country trying to bribe their way into office, unfortunately they’ve been quite successful.
The EU is a hopeless mess, needs to disband, fire the whole lot of EU MP’s, and get on with life in a competitive world.
The reason Sarah Palin is popular is because Americans are generally centre right – it’s in their constitution. Europeans and Canadians are generally centre-left. The best we can hope for is Preston Manning.
And our tea party movement?
Fritz
[……Europeans and Canadians are generally centre-left.]
I will quibble.
Following Diefenbaker the Canadian centre-right was fractured and the Trudeaupenians united more or less—-had control of the media and academia.
Prior to Trudeau, the Liberals were centre-right…Mitch Hepburn and Mackenzie King didn’t play well together.
Conservative split and voter apathy disguised a majority centre-right mentality. Trudeaumania was an anomolly much like Obamamania—temperary insanity.
RESIST THE NEW WORLD ORDER
a quibble:
Europe needs a tea party movement, not a Palin.
Palin is not the leader of the Tea partiers. They don’t have one. Big personalities are OK but some say the Tea Party movement will be less if it ever gets a leader. Palin is one of them.
sasquatch
I agree historically Canada was centre-right but 20 years of Trudeauphia, bad immigration policies and increased urbanization has changed this. Most Canadians now expect the government to solve their problems and meet their needs from cradle to grave. Its not what you can do for your country but what your country can do for you.
Perhaps if lefty over spending jurisdictions like Greece, Spain, Japan, California and New York go bankrupt Canadians will again see the limits of government. It will take a major scare for things to change.
Indiana Homez @ 1:09, but that would mean trading in a schnauzer for a podium.
Europe doesn’t need a Sarah Palin, Europe needs an Oliver Cromwell.
