Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Feeding the trolls:
philboy:
An argument has two premises and a conclusion, in its simplest form. These are your argument’s premises:
1 – Senior citizen waves sign saying “No socialized medicine”
2 – Said senior is receiving Medicare (a form of socialized medicine).
And your conclusion:
Therefore, said senior is a hypocrite and a moron.
However, the problem is with your first premise. Said senior may well have children and grand-children. You assume in your first premise that he’s saying “No socialized medicine” for anyone, when he may well in fact be protesting what he foresees to be the imposition of socialized medicine on everyone in general, and his family in particular. You do understand that not very subtle difference, don’t you?
And isn’t that exactly what happened in Canada? I remember when Medicare was introduced in Canada. My dad complained that the government was going to “put it in my pocket with one hand, and take it out with the other”. At the time, doctors could still “opt out”, extra bill, etc. However, over time, these options were all slowly phased out, and now we have the current system where NO health care outside the public system is allowed. The senior citizen you unfairly characterize as a moron could actually be an intelligent, informed person who saw what happened in Canada, and doesn’t want it to happen in the US.
Now go do your homework.
Yes, don’t feed the troll.
My bet is philboy responds with a rhetorical question.
tim:” two or three Woodstocks”.Thanks for the memories! lol
Those are huge crowds. I keep wondering where these people were last year when the Big O was campaigning on his ego and socialism. Were they sleeping? Glad they woke up!
Ah, but you don’t hear any of those moronic teabaggers/townhall screamers demanding Obama do away with medicare, do you?? Just like you don’t hear any whining rural conservative welfare bums calling for the elimination of ag subsidies.
tim:
Only four minutes and you win!
‘Perhaps in Canada we should have protest organozation.
A Maple Syrup Party to highlight the corruption or better yet a Tar and Feathers march. Held for the former Chretien / Martin governing Liberal malfeasants.
Go Glenn Beck and FOX Cable News.’
Thank-you for that Joe Molnar. We should have had that party years ago; but it is not too late; those buzzards still have $$ in secret accounts and Trust Funds.
I just can’t stop cheering for Glen Beck and the Judge in Texas.
Nice catch Canadian Sent – I think Hannity will have sparks in his eyes too!
Gotta ask another question: does any one know welfare bums that claim to be conservative? In my neck of the woods they vote ABC.
Calling them trolls does them too much honor. They are transparent as guppies and twice as predictable. The funny thing is that they don’t know this. We can talk in front of them without worry that they will hear us, because they are so convinced of their intellectual superiority that they *can’t* hear us.
I could waste a lot of Kate’s bandwidth explaining to philboy further arguments as to why his little retort is moronic, what’s lower than a moron? Imbecile? Everybody else here already sees them, and they are wasted on philboy. He couldn’t understand them any more than I understand string theory.
“what’s lower than a moron?”
I’ve always liked the term “demic”. It’s an old English term which ruffly means “village idiot”.
philboy can be our demic here at SDA.
philboy – you are the one who asserts and without any evidence, that the people there are ‘moronic’ and ‘teabaggers’ and ‘screamers’. Since you provide no evidence for such disparaging descriptions, then, your conclusion is false.
Because someone elderly is holding up a sign rejecting socialized health care does not mean that he is a hypocrite. You haven’t provided any proof that he is in favour of Medicare. He could very well be adamantly opposed to it. And, opposed to extending such a socialized system to the rest of the population.
Equally, you are making an illogical statement when you equate a subsidy to welfare. I presume you know that a welfare recipient doesn’t work, while a subsidy, whether it is for farming in the West, or dairy farming in Quebec, or forestry in BC, or tax refunds for purchasing new equipment in other industries, etc..is only for people who WORK.
In your single-minded agenda of denigrating and insulting people, you don’t seem to care about The Truth. Welfare and subsidies are two different government programs. OK? Got it? So, try again.
Oh, and could you also provide some empirical evidence that all workers who receive subsidies are members of the Conservative Party? Thanks in advance.
As for the Tea Parties now taking place all over America and that enormous one in Washington DC – why do you think Obama’s BackRoom Gang sent him to Perform his Schtick in Minnesota today, the same day? To give His MSM something-of-Obama to report on. And also, to divert Obama.
Obama cannot handle dissent or criticism. So, his BRG handlers have to keep him ‘filled up’ and happy with lots of staged performances, where he can do the only thing he is capable of..Perform. He can perform, he can wax magnificent to the crowd, he can campaign. Because..that’s all that Obama can do. Campaign as a Performer.
He has no ability (or desire) to think, examine, analyze policies and programs. No intellectual ability ot curiosity to see exactly what will happen, in real life, not in rhetoric, if these policies are implemented. All Obama can do..is campaign. Has any president in history given so many speeches, so many interviews, so many public appearances? It’s incredible; he’s either campaigning or golfing.
As for Obama and the Tea Parties…he will ignore them. Just as he ignored their original appearance. Because Obama cannot accept dissent and criticism. And he cannot deal with people whom he cannot control, and who do not adore and treat him as the Messiah. He utterly ignores anyone whom he cannot control.

“Welcome to the Rural Revolution”
“About Rural Revolution
Throughout human History there are eras when every society experiences the darkness of injustice and the long shadows of oppression blanket the landscape. During these periods, collective oppression supplants individual liberty; coercion, intimidation, and wrongdoing become the lawful exercise of authority, and the brightness of prosperity and freedom is but a dim reminder to a bountiful past. Collective security and bestowed privileges become the hands that prey upon the unsuspecting common people and enslave them by deceptively removing their freedom to own, use, and enjoy the fruits of their industry: their private property. It is only when common people rise up and shine the light of knowledge into the deep recesses and crevices of unlawful authority does prosperity reign once again.
Rural Ontario is now home to darkness and our voice is silent and muted within the bureaucratic halls of power in Queen’s Park and Parliament Hill. However, our dense urban neighbors voice resonates and echo’s with a majority of ignorance, clamoring to deprive rural Ontario of our natural and historic rights, while the urban environmentalist, politicians, bureaucrats, and academics covet, and thirst after our priceless property. What price shall we place upon our property? The cost is our freedom.” (More)

“Hundreds of Thousand Protest in DC: Legacy Media Silent
Please post any and all coverage or lack of same on the amazing protest today on the mall. At this time C-SPAN is running back “Book Notes”, stangely all of a leftist variety. CNN has an endless show on America’s terrorism alertness and is showing the story about the boat in the Potamac. C-SPAN2 is also showing pre-recorded stuff. Headline News has a personal finance show on. MS-NBC is showing infomericals.
Fox has at least done some coverage but it is minimal, competing with H1N1 vacine stories, and a tabloid murder of a Yale coed.”

I have good idea for American people
Empire building cost 40 million dollar if I made mistake in my figure sorry
For 110 story
These twine tower can go 58000 people work there
Now we can round it to 60,000 people can work in 110 stories similar like Empire or trade center
Now if we can built 100 of those building in Israel for trade and for 100 for living then all Jewish has home to live in state of Israel
Just need professional built big building hire Canadian builder to help you to that project
Then they need at least 8 billion to built 200 big towers to cover Palestinian and Israeli to have place to live if each building cost 40 million to finish structure of it with more strong building materials
Next asked Mayor of New York who has 16 billion wealth to help this matter since he is Jewish and can go back to Israel for better life and more building and trade
next is to have old owner of Trade center give half of those money back to government to build the twine tower owned by city of New York trade commission he got 7 billion from insurance company can return half of them back and they can built more higher building to cover twice level up to 220 level story who knows?
Then every body has house to live and not need to fight over land with anybody
If this keeps up , the dem’s will insist that they they get Fox news off the air. They are killing all the others combined. How long til the Democrats get Fox news right off the air with the Fairness Doctrine??
what is going on . . . battle lines drawn, a nation divided, a national soul up for grabs.

Well, Colin, it’s like our own whining western rural conservative welfare bums bitching about big gov’t while they swill in the public trough….moronic.
Posted by: philboy at September 12, 2009 3:07 PM
Typical slippery leftist. Sidesteps the point, brings up an entirely unrelated matter. Sorry to have fed the troll to begin with. I know better.
Philboy: I will ask you again. Explain to me how they are morons. Not some statement like “How about a senior teabagger on medicare holding up a sign that says “Say No To Socialized Healthcare”
To call that moronic is to insult morons everywhere”. All that tells me is that you are being led by your emotions instead of your head. Do it Without spewing leftist insults . Do it logically and thoughtfully.
I’d gladly go to the Hill and hold a sign saying “No to socialized medicine” but call it what it really is “Rationed healtcare” and if you live long enough you might get treatment. Might.
Phildouche….Medicare is MANDATORY for seniors.

Read it and weep philboy.
Because someone elderly is holding up a sign rejecting socialized health care does not mean that he is a hypocrite. You haven’t provided any proof that he is in favour of Medicare. He could very well be adamantly opposed to it. And, opposed to extending such a socialized system to the rest of the population.
No, ET, this is the egregious hypocrisy of the angry right fringe…the small dead mind…the rural conservative welfare bum…they LIKE socialism… as long as it benefits them… they (you) only oppose it when it benefits groups and programs they don’t like. When have you ever heard Sarah Palin or a teabagger/townhall screamer call for the elimination of medicare??? Ya got some evidence to back THAT up??
And farm subsidies and welfare ARE the same damn thing. They’re both sucking from the same public teat.
Dear Warren Z
A senior citizen on Medicare holding up a sign which says “Say no to Socialized Health Care” is (for sentient observers) a self-evident absurdity, since Medicare is, by definition, socialized health care.
Somewhat similar to the person who held up a sign at a Town Hall Meeting saying “Keep government out of Medicare.” It’s nonsensical.
Philboy chose to deem such actions ‘moronic’ andthe people who carry them out ‘morons’. And moronic indeed they are, if in fact they are fully cognizant of the signs they are holding.
I rather think they are calculatedly misinformed and stirred-up by insurance companies who stand to lose billions of dollars should health care go through.
It’s all been orchestrated for one reason: to try to save the profits of the blood-sucking insurance companies. All the “death panel” “Nazi” “communist” “socialist” crap is too on-message to be anything else than a ruse invented by big business to profit at the expense of human lives.
And the dupes holding these signs emblazoned with phrases which are self-evident absurdities are testament to that.
Update on CNN coverage:
it is no longer on it’s news page – a memorial for some firefighters is the hed.
On the politics page it is the second item behind some local issue in Maine and it still numbers the crowd in the tens of thousands.
If the actual count is indeed a million plus this is clearly an example of bias. I expect they will blame it on understaffing during a weekend.
Not a word about this major American event on either CTV.CA or Globe.com as of 5 PM EST Sept. 12.
This must be another one of Kate’s ‘not waiting for the asteroid’, but then, this theme could easily be set on auto stun and run a new MSM lunacy every day and twice on some days.
If nothing else, this event will let the other side know that there is a serious opposition and ain’t pissin’ around. Could be construed as a show of force. These are mostly the armed right wing traditional Americans.
Maybe some honesty in Washington is a good idea at this time … before the shooting starts.
Philboy you are presumably a resident in Canada. Canada currently has a conservative prime minister. By your logic that makes you a conservative and thus a hypocrite should you protest or criticise conservatives or PMSH.
Great little time lapse of the march forming up and heading up to the House.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sjvc6baor8
And this one from CNN is just prefect, chanting Glenn Beck during the reporter’s bit!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1Ntu7Aapys
If these numbers hold up, it will be the biggest demonstration that I know of on the national mall. It has been paved with Astroturf(TM). Tee hee.
Whelp, all I can say is that unlike the “Million Man March” (TM), there’s a fair chance there may actually be a million people at this Tea Party.
My favorite bit from this whole thing is here:
http://www.breitbart.tv/go-home-dc-crowd-drowns-out-cnn-reporter-during-live-report/
The headline on this says that the crowd drowned out a CNN infobabe doing one of their patented live “reports” on Joe Wilson (who incidentally made a million bucks in donations the last two days, way to go Joe!). But they aren’t saying “Go home”, they are saying “tell the truth!”
Saying it loud enough to make infobabe yell into her mic and look really torqued off. Just as well, from what I could tell she was talking total poopoo and they saved her from some embarasment.
CNN management would do well to pay attention to that, their reporterettes show up and people yell at them. I know they won’t, but they should.
bleet: “Philboy chose to deem such actions ‘moronic’ andthe people who carry them out ‘morons’.”
He gave one person as an example of the moron-ness of 1,000,000; he is still short 999,999 explanations. He also hasn’t explained how people exercising their First Amendment rights can be characterized as moronic, particularly as it says nothing about his perceived validity of the speech, the assembly or the grievance.
bleet closes off his insurance company pontification with the following words of wisdom:
“And the dupes holding these signs emblazoned with phrases which are self-evident absurdities are testament to that.”
If these people are being duped, then they are certainly being duped in large numbers. Typical lefty dismissal of the fact that people are able to think for themselves and that, unlike left-wing rallies, all gatherings are not “orchestrated”.
Anyone have figures on largest Washington protest marches…I know the Million Man March wasn’t. I can’t remember the moonbats managing more than a 100K for anti Bush hate ins?
Any info would be useful.
philboy..yoo hoo…philboy..you haven’t provided any evidence. You haven’t answered any of my questions.
First, you haven’t explained how you KNOW that an elderly man is in favour of socialized health care.
Second, you can assert all you want that welfare and subsidies are identical, but they are not. Think. Just think. The first requires no work; the second requires work. Do you understand the difference?
Oh, and again, provide some proof that all farmers are conservatives. Try again, philboy. Assertions aren’t facts. They are just rants.
No, bleet, a senior citizen against medicare is not absurd; you haven’t provided proof that the senior citizen favours medicare. Try again.
And why is it moronic to reject government involvement in health care? Hmmm?
And could you provide some evidence, just a bit, that these Tea Party dissenters are stooges of the Big Insurance Companies? I know you are into conspiracy theories, but, some evidence would help dilute your bias. Thanks in advance.
As for calling these dissenters ‘nazis’, etc, wasn’t it members of the Democratic Party who were doing this? Are you actually suggesting that members of the Democratic Party are in cahoots with Big Insurance? I thought that they were aligned with Big Lawyers, which is why they don’t want Tort Reform, but..bleet..are you also saying that the Democratic Party is aligned with Big Insurance as well? Wow.
Could you explain why a sign that says to Obama and Congress: ‘I’m not your ATM’; and signs that insist that Washington ‘Stop The Spending’; that insist that Washington remember that the People are the Government…could you explain, bleet, why these people are ‘dupes’ and why their signs and words are ‘self-evident absurdities’?
Now, both bleet and philboy – what would be interesting, apart from empirical evidence and reasoning to support your assertions, is for some explanation of why you both reject people opposing Obama.
That’s interesting. After all, that’s exactly how Obama behaves; he rejects criticism, he rejects the right of people to dissent, to debate. That’s why he insists that Congress pass ‘his’ bills without reading them! And Obama sneers at any and all who dissent from him, who criticize him.
In fact, the WH actually has ‘pretended’ that both the original and the current Tea Parties..don’t exist. Can you believe that? A massive demonstration in Washington..and they deny its existence? You are doing the same – you view anyone who disagrees with Obama and his agenda..with contempt.
What is important about these demonstrations is that they are focused around basic problems: the out of control spending of Obama and Congress, the socialist agenda, and the contempt of both Obama and Congress for the Will of the People. As people in the Tea Parties said: this isn’t ‘Against Government’; it’s FOR Government, but government for the people, by the people, of the people. And that basic foundational rule..for sure..is not what Obama and the Democrats are following.
This has got to have the Socialists in Obama’s councils, sweating fear like pigs on a killing floor. Politically that is. I very much doubt it even registers on the would be messiah Narcissists brain. He probably thinks the MSM in his pocket can hide the discontent.
JMO
I rather think they are calculatedly misinformed and stirred-up by insurance companies who stand to lose billions of dollars should health care go through.
I say morons, you say useful idiots… a turd by any other name…
BTW, ET, what subsidy for forestry in BC? And which “people who work” get subsidized??
Rural Canada votes conservative…just look at any electoral map. Most farmers collect welfare. Just look at any provincial or federal budget. Most farmers vote Conservative. Rural conservative welfare bums. It is what it is.
Why are you guys concerned with what bleety weety and pillboy have to say? A million plus peeved Americans show up screaming for the government to spend -less- money, and all these clowns have is “they’re mooooorons!!!”
Dang, that’s some insightful analysis there, pilly and bleety. You guys should work for CNN.
“A senior citizen on Medicare holding up a sign which says “Say no to Socialized Health Care” is (for sentient observers) a self-evident absurdity, since Medicare is, by definition, socialized health care.”
bleet, I know you are not smart enough to understand this argument, which has been repeated multiple times in this thread, but try this one more time.
Medicare is NOT VOLUNTARY, therefore, the absurdity is not “self evident”. Think about this for a while and it may come to you what we mean by this. I doubt it though, because you are an imbecile.
Secondly, Medicare free rides off of private care because it does not reimburse enough to pay the full cost of care. So if you replace private care, with Medicare, well, next thing you know, you will be waiting eight weeks to see a witch doctor.
Nobody anywhere in the world has tried to create a system of socialized medicine without at least one major free market to free ride off of. Who develops those cheap Canadian drugs anyway? That is why your retort itself is absurd on its face.
biff jr.:
The march today like the tea party rants was organized by Freedomworks, led by Dick Armey, the same guy who once called Barney Frank “Barney Fag”:
“The main organizer of today’s march is FreedomWorks, a conservative advocacy group led by Armey that was responsible for much of the venting at town halls last month.
“If I hadn’t stood up, Obamacare would be a train running right through this country right now,” Armey said as he ate a cholesterol-stuffed omelet at his favorite Dallas-area coffee shop before flying to Washington.”
-Today’s LA Times
Kind of an “orchestrated” happening, Biff!
Jay Currie:
D.C. Fire Department estimates today’s crowd at between 60,000 and 70,000. Not quite 100K, Jay!
And to you all:
A demonstration where people hold signs saying ‘Bury Obamacare with Ted Kennedy’ or equating Obama with Hitler and Stalin, or Pelosi with Hitler, simply aren’t convincing to the vast majority of Americans, or evidence that their opposition to health care is rational.
So I say: Keep it up!
Charles Johnson at LGF is going after Kathy Shaidle now.

Read philboy’s post right below.
That’s one large piece of astroturf 🙂
I’m glad it had such a turn-out. The Czar of all the Czars (or is that Romm?), in his Congressional speech complained of partisan sniping by vested interests.
I’d say this shows that it is the people rebelling.
One last comment for bleet. that looks like an awful long graveyard you are whistling past.
When will Canadians take to the streets and protest corruption, high taxes and excessive government? When?
Joe Molnar, great idea!
Rather than Tar & Feather, we could dump them in maple syrop and set bees upon them 🙂
What is sadly clear is that I have never seen people so polarized, both right and left-leaning. And the level of acrimony expressed between both ends is far stronger than one would have expected ten years ago.
And honestly, despite Obama portraying himself as a uniter, he is far, far from being one.
People who disagree with whatever position he has are “wrong”, and unwilling to compromise (with his always inherently self-assumed correct position). He is divisive, and again today was pointing back to “erroneous” decisions of previous administrations.
Sigh.
Tim in Vermont:
If the senior on Medicare advising against socialized health care is in any way characteristic of his age group then he is quite satisfied with his socialized health care – since 88% of seniors on Medicare in the US proclaim themselves satisified or quite satisfied with Medicare.
Barring the statistical improbability that he is in the 12% who find socialized health care unsatisfactory we have to conclude that he wants to deny poor kids the same satisfactory health care he receives. So maybe he simply hates the idea that others will receive the same health care as him – or maybe he really doesn’t know Medicare is socialized health care.
In any case the statistical probability is that the sign is exactly what I said it was: a self-evident absurdity.
And Tim, a tip: when you realize you have a weak argument refrain from flinging ad hominems like “imbecile” at your opponent. Like the dudes yelling their absurdities at the Town Halls it only disqualifies you from the ‘adult table’ in terms of whatever point you’re trying to make.
ET: Well said

My Post is accurate regarding his Statement & the Medicare information comes from my Medical File; Publication CMS No 11095. The reality is that more Senior’s are opting thier benefits into private..HMO & PPO’s (Mayo clinic plans) that, if you understand managing a budget, results in real money payout…A lot of social entitlements are not source funded, they draw from the Medicare common pot and leave an IOU..See the problem?
Socialists ! Stop confusing Health insurance that covers someone from birth to 65,
and Medicare 65 -*… They are NOT the same in the USA

Talk about your weak arguments. There is no convincing you bleet. That is not the point of this thread, btw. The point of this thread is to demonstrate the “depth” of your arguments to the readers who don’t comment, and may have an open mind. You are preaching to the choir, that would be philboy and new.
