  1. Aaron – “obligation to provide life support” – no. That’s hardly the same thing as banning trade, which is government overreach and usually hurts the poor (think South Africa during Apartheid). The Nomenklatura never suffer.
Aaron, pretty much everyone here excepting the trolls hates Communism with a passion. I say again – and I stole the line from P.J. O’Rourke – Cuba needs more capitalism.
Nor is Cuba a security threat at this point. The Cuban Missile Crisis was way back. There’s no Soviet Union now.
If I were Raoul Castro and his buddies, I’d secure figurhead-change now, during the reign of Chavez’ buddy President One-Term.

  2. So the shortages in Cuba don’t have anything to do with the US imposed embargo? Seriously guys, you can’t endorse a policy such as the embargo, and then point to the problems it causes as being the fault of the leadership of that country. It just doesn’t cut it in the logic department.
As for these photos… give me a camera and a travel budget, and I bet you I can find some stuff just as bad in the US of A.
Just so we’re clear… I think Fidel sucks the bag. I don’t endorse communism, and I think Cuba should hold free elections. Don’t go twisting my words when you get your panties in knots.

sarge here yer right like at a certain washington DC military hospital only 5 short years ago-rats and sh@t on the floor as sarge recalls. our own troops bein taken care of by our own defunded military hospitals our brave boys being forced to pay for thar own food after bein injured in the line of duty…makes sarge sick yet sarge dont remember any of you boys an girls speakin up about that… sarge also notes that this here website has some serious problems with authenticity. dont think cuba is manufacturing Siemans Heart Mate(tm) monitors…fer instance.

  4. defunded military hospitals = government-run health care the world over.
“Siem[e]ns Heart Mate(tm)” monitors = gift from Comrade Chavez!

  5. Food and medicines are exempt from the embargo.
The hospitals for tourists have everything that you can find at an American or Canadian hospital.
Those are the hospitals where they took Michael Moore, but Cuban patients are not allowed to get treatment there.
It is not the embargo, is the apartheid system created by the Castro brothers where foreigners are treated like royalty and Cubans are treated like animals.
